Hope you have a great time at the tournament Travis. Your channel is brilliant. Keep up the good work. I hope you will let us all know what you used and how you got on. Like you I think a game should be enjoyable and you all do a great job of that. Thank you very much.
My tactics are to use the sniper immediately to target the enemy sniper/s, then officers. 3 med mortars to gang up on fixed weapons (Anti-Tank first) from hidden positions. All three combining their fire against a single target. Even if I don't get a hit I'm pretty sure that'll scare my opponent into moving the fixed weapon. If he doesn't move, the odds are 100% for a hit on the second turn of firing (50% first turn + 66% second turn). My reg infantry will go tank hunting. Once I've reduced the anti-tanks assets deployed against me, my tanks will move in with their 3 MG each and go after infantry a light vehicles. My green squads will move forward trying to stay behind cover, and cover the regular squads. My mortar officer is going to be transferred to one of the regular sqd trucks, and my replacement platoon officer command team (a vet) will stay with his platoon to keep them moving. My command and forward observer teams (4 teams w/3 vets each & SMGs) will be fighting at the front (contingent on taking out enemy sniper) for their close range capability (24 shots). Since all these teams models are armed "as modeled" all the SMGs are free, gaining48 free points.
Thanks for sharing this! I have my first V3 event on November 3rd, and have been listing in prep. I have the most flexibility with my Americans, as I have quite a few vehicles, 2 medium mortars, an HMG and mmg. So lots of options. The tournament is 1000 points, so I’m hoping 12-13 order dice is adequate….
For the U.S. Army platoon you might want to drop the BAR and SMG from each squad to save 10 points, which will get you one additional man per squad or use the points saved to get an MMG team to help your long range firepower. A jeep with a bazooka in it is also a nice backup anti tank threat. If you are running a Company Commander then you might want to take your Platoon Commanders as a single inexperienced man and put each of them in a jeep with a bazooka team in it. The Inexperienced Platoon Commander can snap-to the jeep and the bazooka team from inside the Jeep, allowing you to drive up, disembark and shoot the bazooka all in one go! This Bazooka-Jeep-Inexperienced Platoon Commander also means it’ll come in from outflanking on anything but double 6’s because of the U.S. special rule and his +2 morale bonus, and with one for each side of the board you can outflank one to each side making enemy armor very vulnerable to a sudden bazooka strike!
I always appreciate your presentations. Thanks for your examples - I'm looking forward to running of few of my own. Do you have any footage of your tournament at VetCon?
I'm getting a German force together. I decided against bringing in med tanks, and am going with Pz III e tanks. Seen too many heavier tanks get destroyed. Kampfgruppe Dave 1943, 1250 pts, 19 Order Dice: 2 x Pz IIIe each w/3 MGs & 1 Lt AT gun 1x Regular Rifle Platoon: Vet Officer w/ 2 men all w/SMGs, 2 x Reg 9 man squads each w/2 x SMGs, 1x Lt MG, 2 Panzerfausts, Vet Sniper, Vet Observer (Arty) w/2 Men all w/SMGs, 2 x Inexp Trucks Replacement Platoon: Vet Officer w/ 2 men all w/SMGs, 2 x Green 10 man squads each w/2 x SMGs, 1x Lt MG Mortar Platoon: Vet Officer w/2 men all w/SMG, 3 x Reg Med Mortars, 3 x spotters
Medium tanks are effectively beyond crap now. Light dakka and autocannon vehicles are now the gold standard. V2 vehicle points system was a mess and V3 just made it worse. Warlord doesn't understand it's own points system or game. Also from a historical perspective, mixing IIIEs and fausts is a no-no. Most IIIEs (and also 37mm gun equipped IIIFs were out of service by 1942 as they were either: a.) destroyed b.) uparmoured and upgunned (IIIF/G/H/J) c.) even converted to StuG Extremely small number survived in training units (we're talking single digits).
The German force with the Wirbelwind is my favourite, but could you not find space for an Artillery Platoon with a Nebelwerfer and get up to 15 order dice.
@@tabletopcp An inexperienced Howling Cow with platoon commander is 57 points, how about removing men from company and platoon commanders and removing assault rifles to make up the 57 points. This keeps all dice and number of men in the infantry squads.
I'd go for the regular US selection with the 2 x Sherman tanks.... it seems to be the most balanced and gives U options on who you face at the tournament. Good Luck. ☺
I think you’re gonna see 20 dice as the norm. The dice average was around 15 at 1250 in second edition. And this version has more for small teams and officers on average. The smaller lists I think will struggle as armor is probably gonna be more prominent. Once an opponent focus fires your Anti tank stuff at range, armor will run rampant killing the infantry. The German list with the Whirblewind is better but I think still light on dice for what I believe the new meta dice counts will be.

good luck and have fun. V3 is more fun to play for me because of the larger sense of scale. proper battles now.

Sounds like a solid plan 💪

Thank you. I don’t have any footage of the tournament. Was pretty hectic. I did come in first place though somehow.

I have a bunch of plastic marines you can have. I’ll need to figure how to get them to you.
I have see lists at 24 and 25 dice.
You need to stock up on more Marines

With the armor platoon and all the infantry I could not fit an artillery platoon. To do that I would have to drop too much infantry

Cool Vid. I have found with the all the snaps the dice count seems a bit less.
I agree. The captain on the table more often helps a lot.
I couldnt find the Wirbelwind at easyarmy. Can you help me?
Try looking under fully tracked AA vehicles in the armor platoon
I’d like to see how you transport your armies
I keep them in plastic containers at home but have a travel case for an army if I need to take it anywhere
Take the Whirbelwind
What's all this V3 business about?isn't it called bolt action 3rd edition?
Yeah that’s what it is called.

I will probably get out diced for sure. I will probably end up having to increase my dice count
