  • This was a kind of long lasting side project which I was working on here and there a little bit. And now it is finished. I'm happy since I finished it to usable stage - ready to have fun with it. I'm sorry for bad video editing. It was not a plan to put it to TH-cam. But I wanted to have the whole story merged in 1 single video. So here it is.

      Thank you.
Well, if you can get Brushless boat motor very cheap and if you are familiar with lithium batteries, speed controlers and can get them cheap or already have any and you are willing to spend a lot of time for this then go for it.
One thing is certain - according to the content of your Channel, you will have A LOT more posibilities for testing and to use it then I do. 😉

I think it definitely needs to be more of a jet and less of a fan. The further you can move that water the better.

Hey, thanks for the comment. Maybe you are right, I'm not sure. I'm not fluid dynamics expert, but I know this isn't a case at propellers in the air. On the other hand, wouldn't boat motor manufacturers make propellers in such manner by default?

    Try this:
Make a cone shape conduction will increasingly the thrust and centrefy the force

Thanks for the comment. I'm wondering how much stress would that put on protecting basket. Besides, I did play with it more with new fresh LiPo pack. It was even better, faster due to less voltage sag and I didn't have to worry to drain battery below storage voltage. What I need to do is to cover interior of the box with some insulation because, water from the outside is cold, ESC and batteries inside are getting warm and this is causing interior to condensate, moisture starts to collect. Not much, but still.

wow! did you try to measure device' speed without any additional weight attached?

No, I really don't know how I would do that. Or maybe I don't understand what exactly you mean. 🤔🤨
I did use 10Ah 4S lipo last summer with sup board and 2 persons onboard. It was pretty fast, but it was also hard to hold it for long time and full power. At the moment I'm looking for new prop since this one is quite chipped due to hitting the bottom few times and propeler sucked few rocks each time this happened. Now it is vibrating quite a bit because of that. 😑🤪

    Great project
is it possible to get more detail on the electronic setup and component.
i wonder what would make it faster, a stronger motor, more rpm speed.
and if you add large wings, it may need less effort holding the scooter and gain efficiency in speed and direction.

      Thanks for comment.
As explained in the video, motor is Torqueedo Base Travel 401.
ESC is Turnigy Plush 60A, rated for 6S LiPo.
Servo tester is Turnigy 11780 760LV-HV Dual Pulse Width.
Batteries I'm using are 2x2S (in serial, so 4S) 5000mAh hardcase RC car LiPos (Zippy 30C series).
It is OK to use it as it is. I still have lined interior of the box with fabric. ESC and batteries gets warm and when you submerge everything in cold water, condensation starts to appear. I hope this solution will solve that problem.
Upgrade would be to use 6S LiPo setup. Maybe I'll do that, but I'll replace ESC before that, this one gets too warm to try that by my opinion, despite heatsink being attached to the inner wall of the box (using heat paste of course) to help with cooling. It probably doesn't do much due to the plastic enclosure, but I think it helps a little bit.
Motor would handle 6S with no problem.
Wings would probably help at steering and less effort would be needed to hold it, you are correct.
But it would make it even more bulky as it is. So I don't know.
Replacing ESC and 6S LiPo will be the upgrades I might try.

Defo once I get back to the Uk . Loved how you used a plastic strainer for the cover of the propeller. Awesome👏

I wonder would it be more efficient in salty water?

    • @mihavuk
      @mihavuk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Probably. I guess I'll find out sooner or later.
It would be faster with lighter person. I'm 97 kg. And better lipos would help. Now I'm using old 4S lipos. But ESC is rated for 6S. 😁

@@mihavuk I was about to comment on the 6s thing but you beat me to it. I weigh 70 and change and am crazy enough to do...most things if you need someone to test it. :P

@@5c1t4l3 Even your weight would make a difference. If you get 2x3S pack, app. 2500-3500mAh, we can try. 👍 I wanted to try a lot of things with it, for instance how fast it would push SUP board, pillow,... But my charger f***ed up everything.
