Michael Ardnt wrote the screenplay for this movie and was nominated for an Oscar. I have the script for Toy Story 3. It is wonderfully written. This the same guy who wrote "Little Miss Sunshine" and won an Oscar for it

Honestly, this scene is the strongest scene in a movie I have ever seen. I didn't expect it at all when I saw it in theaters. Visually stunning, and this music makes the scene even stronger. Pixar will never be able to top this scene, emotionally and visually.
I like the metallic chomping sounds that start at 1:08 to me it’s like the song itself is saying “After countless ordeals we’ve all been through and escaped, this is the end, it’s all over, the only good thing is that everyone here will not die alone, we will all be together in our last moments alive.”
It's also rated U by the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification). That's the British equivalent of the G rating. But I wouldn't show Toy Story 3 to a very young child, either. I think Toy Story 3 was intended for those who saw the first two films in their childhood during the second half of the 1990s decade. That's probably why the film overall has a noticeably darker tone than its two predecessors.
I remember seeing this in theaters. My younger self thought, "They wouldn't die right?" And then the claw saves them. I swear part of me saw it coming, and yet I still get chills to this day.
I was 10 years old when I first saw this in theaters in 3D. When the camera zoomed in to the furnace after Woody said he didn't think it was daylight, I almost jumped out of my seat and had a lot of adrenaline pumping in me! During this scene, I was actually scared big time! I was shaken up after leaving the theater and traumatized! It really scared me and I didn't see it coming and nobody told me about it! This was an amazing film on the other hand, but it was a film I'll never forget! We had a family thing after I watched this film and some of my cousins asked me if I liked it. I didn't know how to tell them, because I was still traumatized, so I said, yeah it was good.
I cried when my Woody did that to me and I hid into him all prepared. This was during a heatwave and I knew it was almost over because I was literally melting

God, I remember when I saw this in theatres not s single tear was dry during the scene. A few people went wild when they were rescuced though lol. It's funny how much you can get into these movies and how valuable these characters start to become. You know their not real and you know it's a Disney movie so they always pull through, but this one was a pretty close one.

I think this is the most dramatic heartfelt and moving music I've ever heard in a animated film. Dare i say any film I've watched ever. *So* amazing. Love Pixar!
While watching this, I was choking back tears. Lotso steps away from the button, as the toys fall into the dump's end. The slow moving trash drags them along to the flames, as they admit death and defeat, hold hands, and wait for their end. I think Lotso should have been left in the garbage, to be ground up.

This scene proves that Lotso is the worst Toy Story villain ever, because he starts out as an annoying jerk and then he ends up a demon-like character when this scene comes up. This scene made him show his true colors!

I cried as I was doing this ending and Woody came alive to join in and we both cried as we accepted that fate but I was glad to still be in my bedroom alive and Woody agreed with me. Really powerful moment it was and my sister saw it happen, she couldn’t believe that Woody was alive

Rewatching this film again and nothing in the Toy Story lore tops this scene. after everything these toys have been through, with formal friends being sold away, with a kid that no longer wanted to play with them for years, having just escaped a literally kindergarten prison, after all the trials and tribulations these toys faces together as a family, it’s the sudden realization that it’s all over now. And all they can do now, is die together as a family. Toy Story 3 was for me, the true ending of Toy Story and this scene confirms that nothing was going to stop them. Love this movie 🍿

I remember seeing this movie in theaters and I couldn't stop crying when they fell in the incinerator... I never thought that my favorite movie characters would die... but then the claw came and I LOST IT
I wonder if they didn't actually die here and the entire claw thing was just a metaphor. I mean, think about it; they were saved by characters they clearly saw die earlier in the film. They were saved by a complete deus ex machina that even emerged from a beam of white light. Once they were rescued, Woody realized that he couldn't stay with Andy anymore and that they had to 'move on', where shortly afterwards they went to a happy place where they were loved and cared for, but not before being eulogized by Andy.
Think about it though. They didn't see the Aliens die. They just saw them get pushed in by the truck. And as soon as that happened, they themselves got pushed into a different pit by a different truck.

I listened to this for the first time in over ten years the other day, and my heart just sank. The scene in the movie was so emotional, and this score contributed greatly to that tone. And best of all, they managed to do this in a G-rated film.
This was my favorite scene in the movie, yes, it was the darkest scene in the franchise, but that's why I love it. The emotional moment came when they all decided to accept their fate, knowing the location was inescapable. The toys stop fighting and take each other's hands. The Gang all hold hands, together as a family, close their eyes , and face their death together. I cry every time they hold hands and accept their death together as a family.
It so did, I’m glad me and my sister grew up with Toy Story 3. This was exactly what the toys done to me and Woody so we died seconds before getting saved by my beloved 1940
This scene scared me to the point where I thought they were gonna die along with the thunderstorm scene from Up, when I first saw both movies in theaters
I realised it was over when my sister sees everyone holding hands and she holds mine. I just accepted it was over but it was a relief when the toys got saved

Me, my 2009 Woody, my sister and Mummy went through the same experience. The only thing I could remember was Mummy accepted my 2009 Woodys hand and she even hugged him. A few seconds later, that same claw from Toy Story 3 came down and picked all 4 of us up from the stairs; my sister looked relieved that it was Woody.EXE
This scene is where shit got real. They barely said any word but we got their feelings immediately; that's the power of animation and music. Even when I know they're not gonna die, I still get goosebumps. When Woody grabbed Buzz's hand, I lost it. This scene lost none of its power after 13 years.

I don’t really think it topped this. This scene here was literally beloved characters that so many people had grown up with, staring death right in the face, and simply embracing it, knowing that, in the end, they’d still be together.
Man, that scene where the toys were going towards the incinerator was tense. I was terrified that the toys might finally perish! Lotso came very close to killing all of them. But nope, the claw save the toys from their doom, and Lotso got his comeuppance in the end.

I think this scene showed Lotso what kind of person he really was! I think out of all the Toy Story villains, he ended up being the worst one. I listened to this for the first time in over ten years the other day, and my heart just sank. The scene in the movie was so emotional, and this score contributed greatly to that tone. And best of all, they managed to do this in a G-rated film.
It was way more emotional when Woody came alive and joined me as I was doing the ending myself
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the obvious borrowing from the Terminator theme.
This was my favorite scene in the movie, yes, it was the darkest scene in the franchise, but that's why I love it. The emotional moment came when they all decided to accept their fate, knowing the location was inescapable. The toys stop fighting and take each other's hands. The Gang all hold hands, together as a family, close their eyes , and face their death together. I cry every time they hold hands and accept their death together as a family.

I realised it was over when my sister sees everyone holding hands and she holds mine. I just accepted it was over but it was a relief when the toys got saved

I appreciate movie and video game soundtracks more because of this, when I was 7 this soundtrack was the icing on the cake for such an emotional scene, and I didn’t even listen to soundtracks at all then.

This scene is where shit got real. They barely said any word but we got their feelings immediately; that's the power of animation and music. Even when I know they're not gonna die, I still get goosebumps. When Woody grabbed Buzz's hand, I lost it. This scene lost none of its power after 13 years.

I don’t really think it topped this. This scene here was literally beloved characters that so many people had grown up with, staring death right in the face, and simply embracing it, knowing that, in the end, they’d still be together.

Man, that scene where the toys were going towards the incinerator was tense. I was terrified that the toys might finally perish! Lotso came very close to killing all of them. But nope, the claw save the toys from their doom, and Lotso got his comeuppance in the end.
I didn't like this movie because of the incinerator. I was tramatized in theaters in 3D. This movie upsets me so much.

I think this scene showed Lotso what kind of person he really was! I think out of all the Toy Story villains, he ended up being the worst one. He started off as a real annoying jerk and now a demon like character when this scene came up. He's the worst Toy Story villain in my opinion, because he almost caused the end to Woody and the gang.
