Trump should have addressed how bad of a play that is and that the Priest should have held the Cleric until it could get value right after being summoned (like playing an Injured Blademaster -> Cleric -> Circle of Healing, or when there is a minion already damaged on the board from a previous turn.

Trump knows his deck - there is nothing he can bounce razorfen to his hand with. On the other hand, he doesn't know his opponent deck. A priest tend to have cards that seize control over opponent minions like shadow madness which would allow him (with brewmaster) to bounce it back to HIS hand for extra value. What you said might be right in case of Ysera on board or playing against rogue. But noone is going to use card to put razorfen hunter back in your hand.

Hexerin, there is no priority between those two 2/3's in this particular match. Trump's deck had zero bounce in it, nor would the opponent be able to bounce his minions back into Trump's hand. Mind Control, Shadow Madness, Cabal Shadow Priest, and other similar effects do not trigger Battlecry for the Priest either.
Just want to thank Trump for his teachings videos, there are not many streamer also so dedicated to the youtube channels and teach the beginner hearthstone players, to be honest, I really sucked in arena, but I really learned a lot from his stream and youtube videos. Thanks a lot!!
i think it's worth mentioning that if you hold different types of weapons at the same time, it may be beneficial to not play any at all, since you don't know exactly which one will be the best for upcoming situations.
I wish this series covered more games, just to show you different situations with the cards. Winning on turn 7 because of solid card draw doesn't exactly show us how to properly utilize the deck. I don't know... I'm one of those people that learns through playing. But overall, thanks for this series! Helps tremendously with deck setup on new accounts. I literally started playing yesterday and went 2-3 (it was already late, couldn't play that much) in constructed with an awful hunter deck. Excited to see how I do tonight with the help of these videos!
I understand what you mean. I think the idea is to just show the theory though, as once you start getting into different situations, the videos could be endless. Nothing like practice to understand the theory. Also, get good with a proper class. Huntard will make you a lazy player.
I'm tempted to do a video on minion attack priority, so that Trump can finally learn how to correctly attack with his minions for maximum value. So tired of seeing him make attack misplays, such as using the Razorfen Hunter instead of the River Crocolisk. In the off chance one of them gets bounced, Razorfen is much more valuable to have in hand than Crocolisk.
I actually attack most of the time when I use a weapon in the same turn out of fear off ooze (yes face if there is nothing else) but thanks to the 2 expansions ppl are switching ooze out more and more and that just makes weapons more potent.

I'd much prefer if Trump's later example decks weren't filled with Legendary cards, it's bizarre to see him go straight from a 'Just starting Hearthstone' deck to a 'look at all my money' with no in-between. Most "clear the board powers" can't easily deal with 5 health minions such as yetis, but of course it depends on the situation. Most notably, Flamestrike "only" deals 4 damage, which means you have still have 4/1s left. And since Flamestrike costs 7 mana, the opponent can't hero power (before turn 9) to kill the Yeti(s), so you get to keep your board presence. (Unless he kills them with his minions, in which case they will still get to trade)

With paladin you could want to play around mind control tech or wanting redemption to proc on a better minion. With warlock you could want to avoid your opponent having possible lethal. Usually best to buy packs with your gold, as the price of an adventure-wing is quite steep compared to the amount of cards the same cost of packs grant. However if you do go into adventures, depending on class and cards, Kara is probably your best bet as LoE and BRM will be obsolete and retired midway through next year.
If you're good, play Arena. It's only 50 gold more than a pack, and it guarantees you a pack + gold. If you go 0-3, you'll probably get the value of 125 gold (1 pack +25 gold), and the more wins you get, the more you add to your collections through cards, card packs, gold, and dust. tl;dr play arena
***** Definitely agree with that too. I use Arenavalue to draft, which has advice from the one and only TSMTrump on Classic/Basic cards. It can value synergy too much (check the options tho) but overall it's much easier than using value-tables. Protips: 0) watch Trump basic teachings 1) Make sure your cards pass what he calls the "vanilla test" or having 1/1 of stats for every mana they cost. This makes sure you can keep board control. 2) Focus on at least seven 2-drops and having around twenty cards (two third of the deck) below 6-mana so you can play on-curve for tempo. 3) Only value the card's ability text if it will happen on-turn, because it will probably die anyway. Especially Inspire cards, they are often super late. 4) Mage, rogue, paladin and druid are the best picks in that order. 5) glhf!

Yes. Some of the cards have changed, so the recommended decks might not be as good, but all the concepts he talks about are still important to the game.
Against people who know what they are doing they won't play Northshire if they see you have a 3 dmg weapon. I like to keep my war axe unplayed against priest even if I have 2 spare mana. I want to bait out the cleric and take it for free. But then again you are demonstrating how to own noobs.

Evan Ferguson That assumes you get about 1/2 of gvg legendaries in the pack openings though and probably a double legendary or 2 getting no legendaries puts you 32000 dust behind where those projections have you more if the projections do in fact assume you get doubles of some legendaries but I don't remember if that is assumed or not.
Hexerin Null Wow a sideline quarterback that really has no understanding of the purpose, play style and push back of anything that was just discussed. If you are intent on correcting anything, maybe you might make a priority of that, instead of missing the point and giving unrelated advice with regard to the subject matter.
And even if bouncing a minion in hand was a concern, Trump doesn't have that mechanic in his deck and he is aware of that. By applying Hexerin Null's reasoning, things would be more severe for Trump if the priest gained control of the Razorfen and bounced it into hand than the River Crocolisk, therefore denying the Razorfen is the better option.

well in high ranks no one play ooze, you see warriors playing weps and not attacking all the time. + he had another so it would be an even trade if the next war axe kills 2 minions.
Sometimes you just have to play a minion. Even if it sucks. You could look at it this way. 1 charge of the axe, costs 1 mana. Northshire costs 1 mana. It's an even trade, and you could even consider that Trump "wasted" a charge of the axe on a 1 mana minion. It all depends on what else the players have in their hand.
Clockwork Knight Yes, but 1 charge of the axe is half a card and a northshire is one card, Besides, the northshire is there to make you draw, not to mitigate 3 damage.

Yeah true, but the showcase isn't about the deck. It's about strategies. Also, it's a basic deck, so you won't get much out of it.

Most "clear the board powers" can't easily deal with 5 health minions such as yetis, but of course it depends on the situation.

Well it's been estimated 240 packs are needed for all gvg cards including disenchants so you're almost half way there :)
Evan Ferguson That assumes you get about 1/2 of gvg legendaries in the pack openings though and probably a double legendary or 2 getting no legendaries puts you 32000 dust behind where those projections have you more if the projections do in fact assume you get doubles of some legendaries but I don't remember if that is assumed or not.

Every time I play against warrior, if I place cleric (my main is control priest), he 100% has war axe. This game is so broken.
Destr Hearthstone Don't play cleric until you can get a draw off it against warrior, you only drop it turn 1 against aggro.

And even if bouncing a minion in hand was a concern, Trump doesn't have that mechanic in his deck and he is aware of that. By applying Hexerin Null's reasoning, things would be more severe for Trump if the priest gained control of the Razorfen and bounced it into hand than the River Crocolisk, therefore denying the Razorfen is the better option.

Should you really play the axe on an empty board? What if he has ooze? It'd also have scared the northshire away if your opponent wasn't retarded, wouldn't it have been better to hold the axe and hero power instead, wait for northshire and then kill it with the axe?
well in high ranks no one play ooze, you see warriors playing weps and not attacking all the time. + he had another so it would be an even trade if the next war axe kills 2 minions.

Sometimes you just have to play a minion. Even if it sucks. You could look at it this way. 1 charge of the axe, costs 1 mana. Northshire costs 1 mana. It's an even trade, and you could even consider that Trump "wasted" a charge of the axe on a 1 mana minion. It all depends on what else the players have in their hand.
