    It’s fantastic to see you back, Matt! I’m looking forward to our imminent (as in tomorrow) discussion of Claw of the Conciliator! Should be fun seeing who’s the most lost, though I think I’ll win that race.

    Great to see you back! Thanks for continuing to add some indy pub to your TBR. Maybe you're able to squeeze in one more in the coming months. Cool sword name! Hope life is getting smoother, and spring is happening over there. Cheers!

      As I just told my best mate, it’s almost, but not quite balcony beers weather. 😎 We’ve had some sunny days, but not quite 20 degrees yet, which is the bottom border for balcony beers. 🍻

    Glad to see you back! I’m half way through Ship of Magic. It’s very different than Farseer, which I loved, but I’m enjoying it very much. I understand about “overbooking,” I put library ebooks on hold, and when they all come available at the same time while I am reading multiple 800 page books, I have to cancel them.

    • @MattonBooks
      @MattonBooks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Laura. 🙂 It’s a real testament to Hobb as an author that she can write two so totally different series, and they both rock. 🤘🏻😀🤘🏻

    Nice to see you again sir! We've missed you. When you do get back to Reapers Gale, I think you'll find it re-reads quicker than its chunkiness looks. If that makes sense, ha. Awesome sword name.

      Thanks Jarod, good to be back. I had stressy feelings looking at RG the last few months, but after recently playing an RPG set in the Malazan universe, and needing out with some Malazan fan friends, I’m kind of missing it…

    I’ll have to keep an eye out for your review of Spear Cuts Through Water. It won the Crawford Award at ICFA last month and so it’s been on my radar the last few weeks. Just last night I read a review that likened it to Zelazny’s work, specifically for a shared devil may care sense of storytelling and a particular attitude toward myth, whatever that means…
    See you on Saturday!

    • @MattonBooks
      @MattonBooks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are pretty good descriptors for what I’ve read so far. Like I said, it’s very different for a fantasy novel, and I’m really enjoying it. 🙂

    I am struggling to keep up with my commitments and I have probably way less than half of yours! I’m even struggling to keep up with my YT subscriptions. There is a pattern here 😄 So taking a break from everything makes perfect sense in my head and is to be expected intermittently. I need to clear a Book Club reading commitment next, and then I’m back on Hobb which I am highly looking forward to.

      @MattonBooks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, getting into Liveships is highly recommend Tufty. ♥️

    Welcome back!! My next audiobook is going to be Shadow of the Torturer, and I can't wait to dive in! Thanks for not sharing spoilers, thoughs!
    Ah, audiobook narrators can definitely make or tear a book; I haven't listened to Never Die's narrator, but I generally test the 5min sample to see whether I'll like the narrator.
    Also, Nametaker is such a cool name!

    • @MattonBooks
      @MattonBooks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Livia! 🙂 I don’t mind the narrator’s voice so much (though I inexplicably have a feeling it’s a book that should be narrated by a man), but she mispronounces quite a few words, which always bumps me out of the story.
      Enjoy SotT, it’s such a weird and wonderful book. When you’re done, check out our spoiler chat on Philip Chase’s channel. We’re recording a chat in the second book this evening, which’ll pop up on my channel soon.

    If I want to 'Thank Matt' I'll write 'Thanks, Matt' in the comments.
    As for sending him £2... This is the first time I've actually been 'prodded' into donating to a cyber-beggar.

    Readathons for me are a recipe for burnout, but it is nice if this one is allowing some flexibility and fun to your TBR! I had to put off Ship of Magic for similar reasons, but I’m very excited to get to it eventually! Same with Spear Cuts Through Water. I know Evie loves nested narratives, so I’m not surprised that book takes it to a new level! Happy reading, my friend! ❤

    I am currently alternating between these books:
    «The Veiled Throne» by Ken Liu (Book #3 in the "Dandelion Dynasty" Series: What a prologue! Already in my top 3 reads of the year so far!)
    «Ghost Fleet» by PW Singer and August Cole (Tech Thriller of a potential future war between China and USA, with Chinese occupation of Hawaii and US resistance fighters)
    «The Dervish House» by Ian McDonald (Cyberpunk (& borderline Magic Realism?) set in Turkey in «THE FUTURE OF 2027» (published in 2011). I really enjoy how he chooses to set a lot of his Cyberpunk Novels in unusual settings for the genre: Turkey, India and Brazil, and he created a Moon Colony in the «Luna»-Trilogy unlike most other takes!)
    «The Little Emperors» by Alfred Duggan (My digital read: Set around the Roman retreat from Britain, a Civil Administrator is dodging plots of Imperial Pretenders and Assasinations)
    For May I have:
    «The Conscience of the King» by Alfred Duggan (Digital Read: Set during the Anglo Saxon Migration and the creation of the Kingdom of Wessex)
    «Speaking Bones» by Ken Liu (book #4 and final book of the «Dandelion Dynasty»
    «Sailor of the Sea of Fate» by Michael Moorcock (in the «Elric Saga»)
    And if time, I might start on the «Arthurian Age»-series by Sean Poage, my «Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser» by Fritz Leiber Omnibus and/or my Annual GGK read: «Under Heaven» and «River of Stars».
