  • We were recently doing some testing on the new model Sherp N and comparing it to the Sherp Pro when things got interesting. This is the first video, the next video will have much more detail on the Sherp N. This was a trained Sherp driver on a controlled course with spotters, please do not attempt steep hill climbs in your Sherp

    So we are fixing the roll cage at my work right now... new one looks nice with texture paint. Not that I’m a professional but the mistake was... not enough air pressure in the tires so when the sherp started to climb the rock air pressure equalized and all the air went to front tires witch caused rear tires to go way to low in air pressure than had to increase throttle than disaster. Lol. Very little damage and hey what a great adventure. Have fun and love watching your video’s. cheers guys 🇨🇦

    Manually pulling on a tow rope is a dumb idea. There’s a reason most winch equip manufacturers suggest putting a blanket on a tow rope: to prevent the rope from snapping and acting like a whip, and taking someone’s head or limb off. Other than this part, entertaining video. Nice vehicles.

    When going up steep hills you need to be able to reverse instantly to keep from rolling. The driver seemed to freeze. Maybe a few practice runs getting into reverse quickly next time. Even just neutral probably would have saved it. That and the flat rear tires did it mostly.

  • @malcolmpeers8724
    @malcolmpeers8724 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Definitely the older sherp had less air in the rear tires. It changed the angle just enough to roll over. The newer sherp had more air and created the perfect angle to get up and over the rock. These are amazing machines.

  • @richardrisserjr
    @richardrisserjr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The rear tires were underinflated for that climb (even for the low air pressure in Sherp tires). As the ascent steepened, the weight transitioned toward the rear of the Sherp, it caused the rear tires to compress too much, moving the center of balance far enough back for it to lose balance. Had the rear tires had more air pressure it would not have flipped back.

    If they brace the top with an X brace, it's likely that the shift won't happen anymore, but then again, exocages are expendable materials. My off road farm truck has an exocage for the parts of property that can't be crossed without one, and we basically welded pads over it. Whenever we roll the truck, they break apart or bend and we put them back on, or other pieces.
    That jabble aside, i think the reason the primo Sherp didn't roll is because most of the weight is in the drive train, it's kinda like that paper cylinder with a coin glued to it that climbs an angle because the weight of the coin pulls the paper circle down.

      Of course. The truck even has pumps to do them from the cabin. But looks a bit too low for that ramp. Compare to front and the Other sherp. So flat rim is almost touching the road. Wheelbase of course is a player here.

    I would be interested in seeing how a longer wheel base sherp would perform (around 2/3 foot longer between the tires). I see why they designed it the way they did though. That wheel base works so well because it literally has a footing every where it goes. I don't think hill climbing was a factor when they were in the design stage.

    8:30 people saying "pull it down by the rope" but once it goes free, the recovery strap snaps loose and if that guy in the white t-shirt actually went for the rope he would have died or seriously injured himself. You always have to put a weight somewhere along the line to prevent this from happening. People die from straps
