I think the problem comes after the outpouring of the spirit... people start seeking signs and wonders instead of Jesus!
That’s where it goes haywire! When we begin seeking things signs and wonders instead of God

    • @eswn1816

      Very true!
Also, some of the gifted who minister in these groups get "addicted" to the anointing.
Jesus is the Head of the Church... Not the Holy Spirit!

It becomes an issue of pride, I beleive. That's why it is so important for our eyes to stay on Jesus and our posture to be of humility.

@@marsherrmadd5380 The great danger is becoming a "personality" With the good the Remnant Radio is doing, they have targets on their backs. It is important that they don't become great personalities. So many are learning doctrine from the internet instead of the Bible. Churches are apostate, but so many on line are kooks, These guys are solid and they need our prayer. Hope they don't become too famous.

@@meggy8868 I agree. I had a dream recently of the Lord saying "the death of the people will be quick because of their pride." There was a little more to it than that, but that was the point of what He said. Pride is a very cunning emotion and also very despised by God.

The major problem is seeking after all the things and not Christ. People love signs and wonders but the real object of their affection should be Christ.
Just like in Jesus day many seek after a sign. Some say show me and I'll believe. Jesus said if you didn't believe Moses you won't believe me. An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign.

Having been in the Restoration Movement for about 10 years '75 - '85 I'd like to say you guys have given a pretty good overview. There was a great hangar for more of God back then and we all were studying the Bible and had our own big green Strong's concordance to do word studies. I finally ditched mine about 6-7 years ago having lugged it around for years without using it any more. It was the control and pride and entitlement in leadership that broke it. God has preserved the good stuff from that time and is still refining it. The ox in the stall is a great picture of the whole church history from the beginning. How much messier can things get than killing the Son of God on a cross? And then a whole new religion comes out of that which over 2000 years has changed the world to such an extent that it has.

We had a lot of interaction with Restoration Movement churches and leaders in the 1970’s and into early 1990’s. We were so very appreciative of all the Lord restored to His Church through many faithful saints. These were solidly biblical churches with plurality of eldership, fully functioning fivefold gift ministries that were not overly authoritative, presbytery ministry for prophetically identifying and directing people in their gifts & callings, restoration of praise and worship and so much more. Very transformative and helpful for which we should be honoring and thankful of these folks. It’s no surprise that men’s flesh gets involved and muddies the water. Let us not remotely think we cannot do the same in this day.

One of our problems in the church is that every new movement can become ' institutionalized' , our love can dry up and we become familiar with God and with each other .and of course deviate from the truth .This shows that in every generation we need to be continuallly filled and led by the Holy Spirit , who will inspire us and lead us into all truth as revealed in Jesus Christ .

  • @bobbyjohnson4243

The issue is not that charismatics screw up a lot it’s that very few of them exhibit accountability for those screw ups. They resist biblical correction most of the time. When you show them how they take a passage out of context they resist. All error comes down to lack of reverence for scripture & its author. If we all exhibit this trait. We will work things out and find ways forward to move as brother in love & unity. Commenting on 56:48

The problem with the kingdom now thing is it is creating in Christian’s the idea that we can create a heaven on earth society. That’s the main issue. It’s shift the focus from “do not love the word and the things of the world” to I can make this place perfect and good. And that’s not true. We are sojourners and we are not at home here. What we do is we simply abide in Christ and we will be salt & light. When Christ returns He will do the subduing. Commenting in relation to 29:18

They had these "Presbytery Meetings" which meant that a bunch of prophets from out of town (who you had never seen before) would basically "tell you what to do" with "your ministry" in the "Body of Christ." It was kind of spooky to me. You weren't supposed to disagree with the "prophets." People took this very seriously. For 2 years in a row, I fasted 3 straight days with only water 💧 over these meetings. The "prophets" would pick people out of the congregation (supposedly at random), and circle around them and give them "a word." I thought it was funny, because they never said anything to me and I was a member of that Church for 9 years. I noticed that the Pastor would go around whispering stuff to the "prophets." We were supposed to be closing our eyes in prayer, but I peeked. At that time I knew it was all (or mostly) bogus!!

Surely you know that both Violet and David are highly respected and loved not only at Shiloh but all over the world ... and the great work they have done is legendary. I am just so sorry that what you are expressing here is your experience. That is not the experience of literally thousands of people who have known, loved and respected the ministry of The Kiteleys and Shiloh.

If anyone knows, can anyone explain why and how this fellow is an authority on the latter rain movement? I don’t remember anyone saying this at the beginning. 🙏
The reason I ask is that as I’m watching it there is a lot of talk about how it started and how great the ideas were at its Genesis and how bad it became but no references have been given no transcripts of what the leaders taught from the beginning and how it changed and became excessive. I like the episode is touching on the issues but how can I be subjective if I’m not given any data in terms of what was actually taught by those that actually taught these doctrines.
Not a great representation. It would be great if you could revisit this topic and read quotes by those who taught it.

I always learn SOOO much when I watch you guys, I used to be so hypocritical, judgmental of all the denominations, I used to claim non denominational and I had even gotten sucked into that new age and charismatic AND prosperity gospel line of thinking. Truely you have been used by God to smooth some edges in my character that no book, no study, no witnessing could have ever a complicated, I've really started to tap into Gods character, and His view of us as His bride.
And no worries, I promise I'm not going to start a new denominations because of this, even though the coexist pretty much has and the one world religion has began converting the masses with their clever way of highlighting unity and love and exceptance of all faiths, *shivers*
I used to actually think that God wanted all religions to combine as one. Looking back now I'm not sure I wouldn't have fallen i to the one world religion trap if I hadn't humbled myself and took and interest in learning through your show what faith, real faith verses dictatorship over a group, practicing authoritie in God's name as you guys were talking about. But anyways, you guys are really transforming how people view the body of Christ, you've been used by God to give me a gift of being aware of the details involved in what I used to only see as a fractured, weak, ruined, profusely bleeding out and dieing faith of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. Just because we all have different conviction or different callings, or different trials that lead to a need for a different way of connecting to God through the practice of going to and being open to learn from new denominations that are simply followers of Jesus. There is so much more I could say but I think its best to say, thankyou, praise God for your ministries, your annointings , and for both of you as far as your obediance to the will of our heavenly father, our Lord Jesus. Keep it up, I think the world needs to learn exactly what it is you guys are trying to say and share. 💯🙏💜

Having some of my theological roots in the latter rain movement and developing relationships with and talking to many of the pastors who were involved with the LRM from the beginning on the West Coast and Canada, I see things totally different then what's being discussed here. In fact, in the 1980s I had many people who were directly associated with the latter rain movement as guest preachers in the church I was leading at the time. They were older gentleman in their seventies and even eighties. There are literally 20 different streams of those who claim the latter rain revivals as their foundation who hold to many doctrinal positions. In fact, two of these men that I knew (with the Lord now) were both strong Calvinists. I suppose that would make them pentacostal calvinists!

My Pastor in the 1970's (and HER family came to the San Francisco Bay Area from 🇨🇦 Canada. I was in my 20's back then, and I'm not sure how much I paid attention (or understood) their teaching. I remember the Pastor talking about North Battleford in Canada. I don't really remember much about it. They were big on the "prophetic," and they were big on praise and worship. They also kept mentioning "Rebuilding the Tabernacle of David which had fallen down." I didn't understand that either. If someone knows what that means please let me know. They got kind of goofy after a few years with the Pastor taking extreme control, telling people what to do continually. Also, the "prophets" tried to control everyone (especially young people). I never understood the "Manifestation of the Sons of God" either...I'm glad I got out of there when I did.......

    • @projectdesign4675

Hi Carol.......so, restoration of the tabernacle of David...David was a promise of a unique reign.......tabernacle = atmosphere. The atmosphere of David was one of very unique and vibrant relationship and praise and his Son Solomon who would build His house (God's house).......David house was spoken by Isaiah 22;22 (keys of the house of David = power of Holy Spirit)......not to neglect David in the wilderness as the type of the true church, hiding avoiding Saul (the false and backsliden church)......David had a heart after God, so the last day church will emulate this and shun insincere ritual.....Jesus really holds/and is the keys of David (Rev.3;7) and this promise of tabernacle/atmosphere is in Acts 15;16.

Pastor Violet was a strong woman ... and even I (early on) saw her as authoratitive and frankly overbearing) but as I came to know her and dearly love her, I will say that it was style, certainly not substance, that was my problem. It might be good to count the number of times that you've said you don't agree in your videos. I thought you were acting as an anchor and interviewing people. Many a times your guests are most gracious, considering that you want to present the beliefs and schools of thought of all of Christendom. Besides that, you do a great job. We are celebrating your content, because we can compare, learn and above all respect our brothers and sisters, humbly considering ourselves, because like everybody else throughout history we may also be wrong. As a matter of fact, most of us would not even believe everything like the apostol Paul or James, for that matter. But of course, each one of us IS RIGHT and have THE TRUTH.

Well there are a lot of people who will be watching our show for the first time. We want them to know that we disagree with our guest so that we can display hospitable Christian charity in our disagreement. Something there’s not enough of on the internet.
In addition to that, many of our guest exist in communities where there is a very high “guilt by association” paradigm. By publicly stating that “we disagree“ it liberates them from potential attack in there own communities. Obviously I think the guilt by association culture is garbage. However, most movement and denominations today thrive on that kind of cult like thinking.
I don’t want my guest to lose any credibility when their own communities because of others who have come on my show who may look incriminating in these various communities.
That’s why we do it anyway. It might not be satisfactory for some. But it’s done with the purest of intentions I can muster lol ;)

@@TheRemnantRadio Thanks for the response. Good to know. A relief actually. I live in a sparsely populated state where the AOG's have changed their names to things like Northstar, Harvest, etc. These churches have gone over to the Dominion theology. The changes began over 20 years ago , 1997 to be exact, when an “apostle” came and captivated the young pastor where I attended A split occurred, the old AOG affirmed, however, the congregation was likewise captivated without understanding the doctrinal issues. A series of pastors came who had strong ties, even preaching relationships with the original “captive” pastor who ultimately became a disciple of Rod Bell. People from these churches who go on to Bible School may typically follow up with a stint at I-Hop. They listen to TBN, Mike Bikel, Patricia King, Lance Wallanu, Kat Kerr, and most guest speakers are NAR affiliated without the congregation really understanding. A pastor friend of mine was kicked out of the local E-free for teaching healing and found a niche in a name-changed AOG about 90 miles from me. Granted, my experience is very narrow, but also very deep. That is why your program is so important to me. I am a charismatic with no place to go. This movement almost seems to me to be a spiritual apostate movement. Perhaps the positron papers have remained the same, but the spiritual atmosphere where I live is quite different from when I first became a believer, 1981. What are your thoughts on the name-changed former AOG's? I notice that their websites don't seem to have any doctrinal details.

@@TheRemnantRadio Very good position statement: " The Pentecostal and charismatic movements have witnessed various excessive or misplaced theological emphases over the years. We look with grave concern on those who do not believe in congregational church government, who do not trust the maturity of local church bodies to govern themselves under Scripture and the Spirit. Such leaders prefer more authoritarian structures where their own word or decrees are unchallenged." It was written in 2001. I wonder if the same leaders would still have the caution today that was exercised by the writer of the position paper? There is a powerful sway of internet teachers, and Big names from the NAR exerting tremendous influence. Notice my comments below.

Manifest and Kingdom guys wait for the "appearing" in their hearts. They don't believe that the "appearing" is actually the physical presence of Jesus who receives the Kingdom from the Ancient of Days and hands it to the Son of Man who hands it to the Saints. They can worm around quite a bit with that misreading. Kingdom Now-ers believe that the Kingdom is now, not yet, not later, "we are the guys, we know more than you do because of our revelations." Jesus can't come back until we make the world ready for him. Sorry, Jesus will return after the tribulation, all seven years as prophesied by Daniel and played out in Revelation 6-19. Some people need to start reading the Bible like a newspaper: who, what, when, and where.

    Very good historical perspective.
Suggestion: Follow-up on the "Jesus movement" that followed, especially in California. The remnants of John Roberts Stevens followers are still around. Some of the teachings on Biblical government and inter-submission are excellent.
I am however surprised at how 'positive' you express affection for Denominations which I read as being forbidden by Paul in 1 Corinthians 1:12 and 3:4.
The "Pastor as CEO" format in many local Churches is clearly an imitation of a worldly administration. The pastor is not even a foundational ministry; the apostles and prophets have no more passed away than the gifts. ALL are to minister in a gathering... not one person lecturing from behind a podium. The podiums are remnants of the pagan debates. The church just took one of them away. Jesus' true church is described in Ephesians but is hard to find these days. Blessings.

Here’s a view from the UK. Just a view.
First off, the last programme I listened to I couldn’t endure to the end because the presenters continuously interrupted the guest. Really guys, I wanted to give you a fair chance, so tuned in again.
I know very little about Latter Rain. What I do know is that here in UK, and doubtless in the US too, we desperately need apostolically-led disruptive renewals of the church scene and our nations. And they would be messy. The round-up summary of potential versus power proved pertinent.
It’s so easy for us who haven’t been there to pontificate. St Francis remonstrated with his second generation disciples, because they wanted to record the movement’s early acts of love and mercy rather than getting out and doing it all again!
For example: heavy shepherding and top-down structures? Oh, you guys, you do so betray your idolatry at the States-side shrine of Liberty. Humanity’s basic problem is independence, and the believers’ safely is in submission. New Testament leaders were fallible, too.
And bewailing ‘prescription’? A new enterprise can’t distinguish itself from the past without creating some sharp edges, no matter how immature and regrettable they become in hindsight. I’d rather have the new Holy Spirit thing with an ‘ouch’, than no advance. Actually you guys presenting doubtless subconsciously operate from ‘prescription’ in your podcast format, too, with just such a motive!
There you go. I will make an intention (no promise) to listen again.

Your U.K. has the advantage of having a much longer history than we. But help me with this. Why are so few over there infant baptised instead of the Biblical way of being adult baptised--and that in Jesus' name rather than the trinitarian titles?

    • @iancallard3561
      @iancallard3561 ปีที่แล้ว

@ralphowen3367 Why 'unbiblical' infant baptism in UK. Because the C of E grew out of the Reformation, which by-and-large preserved previous Catholic practise in this regard. Parents didn't want their children to die without it. Officials relied on church records (as folks researching ancestry today do) for e.g. tax purposes. Only the Anabaptists and Separatists got radical. Another case of culture trumps theology, as we see so often. Hope this helps.

Did you know we have gone out of our way to address the false teachings and unchristian practices of Bob Jones, Todd Bently, and Kat Kerr, and Robert Henderson?
Maybe you missed the Episode where I spent an hour condemning these self-induced "spirit feald-trips"?
But surely you watched the three hours of content we produced on Robert Hindersons Courts of heaven video. Where we used citations of his book and morn over its many errors and erroneous teachings?
Have you seen our work we did denouncing progressive Christianity, or maybe our video condemning the new age teachings of Richard Rohr?
Maybe you have seen our video where we look at the Physics of heaven book, you know, the one forwarded by Bethel Leaders. did you see how we found the New Age teachings and condemned them?
Maybe you saw the episode where Steven Bancarz came on to Condemn the excesses in the Charismatic movement and its willingness to collaborate with new Age practices?
Or how about the video we did with Doug and Holly the two leading authors in Identifying and condemning NAR practices. Did you watch that two-hour program where we went through NAR teachings and readily agreed that they were unorthodox?
Have you watched the 4 videos we did condemning Gnosticism?
How about the videos where we condemned Moral Therapeutic Deism, reader-response theory, and neo-gnostic interpretations of scripture?
Did you watch the one we did on false conversion?
But surely you saw the two we did on Marcionism? and the countless episodes we have done condemning an excessive Kenosis Heresy, or the Modalism Heresy, or the Arianism Heresy?
It seems you are implying that we don't make content where we identify false teachings... If this is the case... you are obviously mistaken.
