2 ideas: 1. Hook up the meteor blaster array to a space scanner so it only activates during meteor showers to save power and heat buildup. 2. Load extra eggs into a storage bin in the industrial sauna. They will eventually break down into raw egg, and immediately cook into omelettes from the heat. Love the series!
I had the same idea as it's one I've used before. And the simplest way to set it up is to have the space scanner enable or disable a power shutoff which leads to the meteor blasters. Well, 2 power shutoffs.
I think stuff only gets cooked from heat if you have the "cooking with heat" mod.
@@nightskygeckos4776 Unless an update has broken this functionality, eggs have always been cookable with heat alone. I haven't been keeping up with updates, but I've seen videos in the past demonstrating this.
future echo is like a hero, he always does all the thing that echo don't want to do
Blastshot can be stored in a smart storage bin, it just hadn't been discovered yet. Your solution is more power efficient anyway.
On the subject of power efficiency, you can tie in automation to space scanners so that they only fire during meteor showers
16:20 you can store it in there, you just haven’t made a blastshot yet, so it didn’t appear. Once you manufacture one, it will appear
Probably won't affect much but the conduction panel on the center blaster isn't hooked up to your cooling loop like the rest. The coolant does not flow through it.
Gahh he KEEPS LOOKING AT IT AND HE KEEPS NOT SEEING IT!!
I have been a bit intimidated to boot up my own game right now because that carnivore challenge is sanding me down a spiral of madness, so at least i can watch this series
2:45 “it’s going to take a month of Sundays” has got to be my new favourite phrase
Went back, paused and read the vanity card ;) thanks for another great episode
You can use the coolant pipe for the meteor blasters for the two large transformers too.
Chuck in a couple space scanners to trigger the blast shots, that will cut down the heat production, the cooling costs and power costs.
Couple of ideas:
1) Instead of having to run an automation wire all the way from the point of the backup to your Blastshot Maker, I just use a bridge right near the Blastshot Maker, then an overflow that drops the excess Blastshot onto a Weight Plate. And if that picks up any weight, it turns off the production. You of course need to make sure nothing else can fall on that spot, but it makes that mechanism much more compact.
And I do that though an SR gate, so when the line is no longer backed up, it detects the line is empty and turns it back on.
2) Sweepy! OK, you could probably do it better with Autosweepers, but I like finding a use for Sweepy to pick up all the debris from the comets (and spent Blastshot) and send it back down to the base.
>15:30
Those two transformers at the top are sitting in a vacuum, because the tiles above them are exposed to space. They will eventually overheat. Once you have your cooling loop going through bunker tiles, make sure to send it through a couple of conductive panels behind those transformers.
You can use space scanners and automation to prevent meteor blasters from emitting heat when there is no meteor shower
Good to see they finally fixed the induction panels. Such a great idea
You can cool the meteor blasters with the water, that you dumping into the space. In this case, you dont need that many pipe, and reduce the lag.
Lots to learn and understand in ONI thanks for my Lesson today Sensei.😁
Instead of letting the eggs hatch, you can store them and let them eventually decay so you can make more omelettes.
Fire the anti artillery cannons, shouted the supreme commander.
After the addition of Carol... Maybe the next colony could be a colony of artists? Make the most beautiful colony to ever exist? Something to think about as a suggestion from a fellow artist ;)
The scale of your builds is always so insane to me. Great job! Very entertaining video as usual
I love watching till the end to read the vanity cards. Much love to you too, Echo!
New Echo Video !!
If you could try to kill the germs in your water, that would also help with the FPS.
Yay! New farm episode! Can’t wait to see how it goes!
I think the pyrotechnics hat should have a sparkler coming out of it. Good video.
Finally caught up with the series! Love your vids Echo, keep it up!
Love the blaster setup! Did you consider not blasting the ice meteors? They could provide a bit more cooling to the debris and bunker tiles.
I love your ONI videos! =3
y'allso is a beautiful word 🤣
I've seen both of these points in separate comments, but I'll put them together (and mention them again to increase the odds of Echo seeing it!)
1. Smart storage bins can indeed hold blastshot, it's just that you hadn't discovered them yet (though someone also pointed out that your current solution is more power efficient anyway, so,)
2. The conduction panel for the center meteor blaster has the P. water going in from the input, but not going out from the output. You're just bypassing the conduction panel. I don't think this will ever cause damage cause iirc conduction panels, like bridges, don't actually hold any liquid, and since there's no pipe on the output side, no bubble will be stuck there heating up).
Lastly, thanks for explaining the main difference between meteor blasters and the doors + robo-miners + sweeper/autosweeper setups!
Thank you, more please
Something I haven't seen anyone mention but you could probably save a lot of material by using a conveyor meter to limit the size of the blast shot packets on the rail. Setting it to 10kg would help save some material
Heyyooo. My favorite series!
Best serties video to sober up to!
Some have mentioned it in the comments already but it would be good to put the blastshots on an automation wire with one or 2 space scanners that way they don't draw as much power nor do they heat up. Additionally maybe putting the cooling loop to flow in 1 direction would help manage heat spikes better/quicker.
Now that you have the blast shots, you can add solar panels to the system to add to the power supply so the drain isn't as pronounced
Echo, u can build a lot of sky scanners to detect meteor shower, then send the Green signal to the meteor blasters.
They use lass Power this way
I use 3-4 of then, 480w, 50% sky detection but its enought to activate at time the blasters. Or u can just Full into 100%, works anyway
Also, delaying the detection by reducing it, they detect meteors when on orbit reducing the amout of signal Green time. Less Power cost again.
It looks like the blaster sitting above the base entry isn't actually connected to the cooling loop. You ran a pipe up to the conduction panel input, but you didn't run a pipe out of the output, you just made a right turn at the input and kept going.
i use a weight plate for the blast shot maker, once the rail is full the blast shot is not loaded, and turning off the machine
How do I say Echo, your middle or top blaster is not cooled correctly?
Echo: "It probably won't be necessary."
Future Echo: WRONG
Echo: This is horrible. Who did this.
Past Echo: *whistles*
XD XD
Steel curtain strong like hatch!
They pyrotechnics hat should be a hard hat with fireworks taped to it or some roadside flairs lol.
>25:50
Another disadvantage of reusing systems is the pipe/rail spaghetti. You can cull all the critters, but past a certain size of your infrastructure the simulation slows down to a crawl regardless
They def add to the simulation pain, but I suspect the critters are 10x worse.
Place a few glass domes between the blasters with aesthetic interior. Now your playing earth defender.
i am hoping to see you make a farm very few have made a video on: MORBS!
The domino effect of destruction is such a real threat.
There is never a slow colony loss, just suddenly 20 systems don't work and need to be reset ,fixed and cleaned.
Colony suddenly has 140k of 90° oxygen.
All the water and airlock systems blow out. Atmo suit docks break. All the dupes are either breaking more stuff, trauma puking, crying in a corner, screeching, hiding inside a wall or floor, bathing in rads.
Like dam little dupes, all I did was go make a sandwich. How did we loose a whole planet?!!
You can use the extra water to cool down the blaster before waste it in the space
I think the cooler in the middle at 22:10 is piped incorrectly? Love the system tho! I wonder if using space scanners instead of having the turrets themselves scan all the time would be more power efficient?
I don't think you need a water return for the bunker chiller.
Just drop hot water into space. Not like you are hurting for polluted water.
I've got an idea for the evolution chamber. I do this in my own bases all the time but I'd like to see your take on it. The critter flux-o-matic makes a great evolution chamber due to the one way nature of the machine. I won't say too much about my setup, but it works great for me.
28:53 you missed up on the cooling loop for the center blaster
I had a similar issue with the blast shot and the smart storage - just wait until the first blast shot is created then suddenly it will be available for selection in the smart storage.
P.S. Regarding the heat on the meteor blasters - I automated mine with the space sensor, that way they are not powered all the time and not generating heat unnecessarily.
You should utilize the liquid your are throwing away to space. It could cool a heatsink before the void takes it.
I thought about that, but the flow is too inconsistent to rely upon.
P.S. The 'vanity cards' are a fun highlight, and I guarantee that anyone who stays to read them can probably use the smile. :)
I will note that I've noticed dupes taking longer to choose their next task when I set hundreds of sweep tasks. I would sweep small areas and wait for them to finish before sweeping another section
please use sweepies to collect meteor debris!
how often do you have a task that's so well suited for their ability?
auto sweeper arms are amazing & versatile, but they don't need this task too; they're used all over your base already.
Your cooling loop isn't going through the conduction panel on the meteor blaster on the platform above your stairway into the space biome.
those poor critters -_-,
Hello! New player&viewer here! I love your series. It's easy to understand and I can learn a lot from you. Thank you!
One question, can we just put aqua tuner in space? It will release heat in vacuum anyway.
Unfortunately no, the aquatuner would over heat very quickly.
I dont play the game but love the series, is the vacuum of space colder than your planetoid? could you possibly build a few mini towers out of heat transfer blocks to help cool the water pipes on there way through the array to help reach cooler temps?
>5:10
While it is in the middle of the ladder shaft roof, it is one tile skewed to the left compared to the other on the left side
>5:30
Here you can clearly see it
Count me in as a viewer who went back to pause and read the vanity card ^.^
Right as I catch up with the series, a new episode drops lol
Yeah... I went back to read :P though the card for suggested video always seems to cover up part of it.
Now i wonder how are you going to add space scanners and interplanetary luncher without interfering with blaster🧐. ( i hope you do them all 3 together gonna use it as guidance😊)
Yes, I did got back to read the vanity card.
Vole Nature Reserve attached to the bedrooms
It has been a while since you made a new Ranch.
Come on...
I comment to help statistics
Is it quicker to do the ol' sweeper/dispenser chains rather than sweep commands? Especially since you'll have to drop them anyway
Add lighting, reduce time
hello echo
Center conduction panel is not piped through 22:09
How about dropping eggs into hot room to make instant omelets?
Yeah yeah yeah, but meditate about calling It The Iron Dome😏
tell me you lived in the south a long time without telling me.
"y'allso" aka you will also. :D
hi echo, you messed up the piping on the centremost meteor blaster's conduction panel
Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav Pav
>11:30
Pacu are by far the worst offenders. If you move all of them into a single tile evolution pool, you won't have to cull other critters for a while, since all the rest have their movement restricted.
They are on my list
As far as I have seen you only get 2.5kg back for each blast shot, so you lose half the mass.
We don't want to learn anything! We just want to see the game.
I feel like I'm in a class where I have to learn how to play a game!
im first
First? Edit: No, it was k.40o14
