I printed off the First Year in Arithmetic and is a perfect followup to Number Stories as well. I used these three with my rising 2nd grader and it is a strong 1st through 2nd grade book and builds understanding of multiplication and division so well to go into Saxon. Personally I would finish out the multiplication tables before saxon 5/4 and the book only goes through x5. It is a fantastic program.
He has also done Life of Fred with our family through Farming so far with no issues, so it really is well done.
These study arithmetics are also great books! I love free printsble old-fashioned programs. Usually better written than many programs of today imho.

I already had number stories book 1 which my rising K and even my rising 2nd grader love. After watching your video I found book 2 and Study Arithmetic 3 at a great price so I purchased them right away! We already use Simply Charlotte Mason’s Arithmetic so these are a great addition to our home! Thank you for sharing these wonderful books!

I’ve always liked the look of the Simply CM math books but never opened one up.

They’re so easy to use! Very open and go. We also use worksheets and do drills (so we’re not Charlotte Mason purists). They aren’t colorful, just text, but I like how gentle it is while still being traditional arithmetic.

Thanks for the video! I ordered book four and five today after watching it and hoping to purchase book three of the Study Arithmetic Series! I’m so excited about using them!

Thank you for posting. I’ve been curious what you were going to use next. I have book 1 & 2 of the Strayer-Upton series for my oldest but really have enjoyed Number Stories for my younger kiddo. I appreciate your videos as they’re always so helpful ❤.

Hello! Do you have a video where you walk and talk through how you use the Number Stories/Study Arithmetics books with your kids? We got through NS1 very quickly, now headed into NS2 and wanting to know how quick/slow to go! Thanks!

Wow, that's so awesome!! Does number stories book 3 comes with teacher's guide? Does it have answers in the back of the book??

There are not answers in the back and I have not come across a teacher's guide or answer key although there may have been one but none are on the market. I think the math is basic enough we could check with a calculator or abacus.

Oh ok 😅 thank you for answering! I'm debating bw SCM arithmetic and using study arithmetic 😆 I need something simple, with a guide and answers and open and go type. Do you prep for the number stories book 2 or is it open and go type?

Thank you for sharing! I got Number Stories Book 1 and 2 in the mail today and I’ve never been excited to get math anything in the mail until now! 😆 Would you say number stories 1 is okay for kindergarten or 1st grade? And in your opinion, would book 2 be good for 2nd grade?

To add.. I also got a free PDF copy of First Year in Numbers as a 2nd grade option. Which would you use for 2nd grade? NS 2 or FYIN?

@@cadykelly247 I book 1 in preschool and kindergarten and then progressed into book 2 kinder and now we''ll be going in to first grade with it. Book 1 was written for first grade at the time but it's worked great for us just going nice and slow and adding in some abacus practice and math games. I looked at first year in numbers but I never used it so I don't really have an opinion on it other than I didn't want to use it. I wanted to us Number Stories. It's probably covering a lot of the same material. I did a lot of number sense focus in preschool so that was really helpful in launching us into math his kinder year. I hope that's helpful!
