    We always put the bearing in the freezer beforehand, it did seem to help. Good video as always

      Right on the money, didn’t think about that trick LOL. I did however heat up the hub to see if that would help a little bit, sometimes it does, in this case it didn’t help much. There was just too much of a tolerance difference. thanks for watching!

    That’s a great hands on explanation of real tricky job! Thanks for a succinct and problem solving vid on this. Once again you nailed it.

    If you have a welder run a bead on the stuck race on the bearing surface.The heat shrinks the race,and they come out easy after that.

    hey man thanks a ton for all these great vids. i don't have a hawk yet but plan to get one soon. feeling way more excited knowing I have all this content to help me out.
    I have some experience working on my NInja 250 but I still have a lot to learn. I was wondering what kind of grease you use? I see so many repair videos talking about grease but I never know which kind, and what kind to use for what application. Any help with this would be much appreciated.

      Thanks for the comment, I really enjoy the fact that these videos help so many, and it’s great to hear it in the comments! So to answer your question I want to start by saying I’m no expert on grease, you can literally get a whole college degree on what exact type of grease to use for different applications. So with that being said if your interested in grease application specifics i would look up some videos here on TH-cam. Now, If I was to recommend a certain type of grease for bearing and use on the bike in general it would be: Lucas RED n’ tacky. Project farm (a TH-camr) did a really great test on red n’ tacky and it was one of the best. The second grease that i absolutely love is “green waterproof grease” it has been very good for the hawk, especially because it sees a decent bit of water. Anyway hopefully this answers your question. Thanks for watching!

    Pounding on the inner race like that trying to install it will destroy that bearing. You need a shop press to properly put those in.

      As for the rear lights, I would check the wiring that goes under the rear plastic. There’s also a brake switch that works the rear lights, and it’s set up subpar, a lot of times they need adjusted or just flat out replaced. As for the shifting problem I don’t really have much of a recommendation for this, other than to ride the bike some more shift at through the gears and hopefully it’s just a breaking issue. I know for a fact my bike was very hard to shift at the beginning, mostly very difficult to get into neutral. It’s still very much the same after 5000 miles of use, but it has loosened up a little bit and it’s just a little bit easier to shift. Hopefully this helps thanks for watching!

    15mm axle?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you see the part where I measure the bearing with calipers? Bearing I’d was 12mm so the axle is roughly 11-12 mm.

    Hey the factory bearings do they come greased?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine definitely came greased, I got 5 or 6 thousand miles out of them. My bike sees a lot of water too! Thanks for watching!

    Where can I find cheap plastics brother ?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be totally honest with you, I have never really looked for plastics, however the two places I was able to find plastic was Texas Powersports and Orion Powersports, however they are very expensive as you probably already know. I would guess the next best place to get cheap plastics would be on the hawk250 owners group on Facebook, I would ask around, there seems to be a lot of good people out there in that group. Hopefully this helps, thanks for watching!

      They abuse their Hawk a lot more than others.

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hawk is very low bearing maintenance compared to my HONDA rancher 420. Bought it new, front bearings need replaced every 500 to 1,000 miles @ $80 each side for factory bearings which is what was put in it each time. Had the thing for 5,000 miles, do the math for just the front bearings, that’s a lot of money and maintenance for a HONDA my friend.

      @@ProudWhiteBoy both bikes are good. In all reality a Honda bike is going to give you less trouble, I mean it’s a Honda. But All bikes have their quirks. The hawk has been a rock solid bike, honestly I haven’t had any real failures or short comings other than a few things that I can think of (airbox, and swing arm.) the rest of everything else has been normal wear and tear from riding the bike like a scolded dog lol!
