    I'm a Ford guy but when it comes to classic muscle cars, most of my favorites are Mopar's. I love Shelby GT350's, Boss 302/ Boss 351 Mustangs, and 67-70 Z28 Camaro's... but my all time favorite small block powered muscle car is a 70 AAR Cuda. I love the Mopar 340 small block...especially with 3 deuces on top. Love the 70 Dodge Challenger T/A as well. The AAR Cuda and Challenger T/A might not have been quite as quick in the 1/4 mile as a 426 Hemi or 440/6 version...but they would eat a big block E-Body alive on a road course. Excellent all around performance cars. AAR Cuda's and Challenger T/A's were the total package

    Hemi Cuda is a great car no doubt,, but the AAR Cuda will always be the best looking and most impressive to me

    Thank you, guys! I love this car. The best pony (fish) car of all time for me. The 340 Six is a masterpiece.

    Appreciate that you understand the car is the star, and your audience is sufficiently tech-savvy to want specs and history. The diversity in the collection rises above 'branding'. I'm 64, my 1st car was a '64 GTO, to be followed by countless muscle cars from all 3 major U.S. manufacturers. I have my favorites, but all had their faults and strengths. Great job, and thanks.

    Another great example of a classic muscle car!

    I really like the AAR in that muted green color. About every other AAR I've seen was a high-impact color.

    I think the 340 mopar is the most underrated engine of all time.They are high reeving and unwind wicked fast. I could literally beat anything out there in a quarter mile.

    Knew a man who bought one new it had auto on column and standard dash cluster with 120 mph speedometer and no teach . Was orange with black interior.Another local had one identical on exterior ,but was 4 spd. With rally cluster .Another in the area was b5 blue slapstick auto with rally gauges.

    Great rundown of a classic in a very nice colour that I have not seen before. So weird to see a bench seat and column auto shifter though - what a pity.

    Fantastic car!! Not a much better looking package at that time from any maker. We had a ralleye red with white interior slapstick auto car. We had it for about fifteen years when I was growing up. My Dad won so many trophies with that car but they didn't run mid 14s. They ran more like 15.00. the a body 340 4 barrel cars ran better due to lighter weight and the proper carburetion. The AAR was Awesome and had a special TA block and heads but they put 1350 cfm to that engine which was way too much. The carbs we're Holley and we're a pain, My Dad ended up getting brand new carbs after messing with the originals for a while. He had it dialed in and it ran,idled, and started great. Alot of guys struggle with getting these to run right. Wish my Dad would have kept it, really fun car!!

    I’m confused about the engine size . The reason the mustang and the camaro had 302 Was that was the largest engine allowed in transam racing

    • @aarmancuda3570
      @aarmancuda3570 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The racing version used a de-stroked 340 to meet the 302 requirement.. they cut down the crank journals..but the street versions only required just the regular displacement as long as the block(340 T/A was a beefed up block than the regular 340 motor) was there used in racing..

    That would have been quite the quandry to face. Boss 302, Z28 or AAR Cuda? Given the reputation of that TA 340 price would have been a big factor since i like all these cars. Chrysler Corp. cars were durable but by 70 the Z28 had a potent 350. Only the Boss Mustang stayed @ 302 inches. So as much as i like Mustang fastbacks it probably would have had to have been a comparative bargain for me to select it. Like i said, quite a decision. Would likely haunt me when shopping and after choosing.

    In the mid 80's I was gonna buy an aar just like this car in same condition but I thought $5500 was way too much.

    • @radiorick4975
      @radiorick4975 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Too much money brand new, off the floor. Back in the day. Of course I wonder what the sticker price was on those cars then. I'm sure people paid over the sticker. Especially when they first hit the market. Which reminds me what a joke the Pontiac Fiero.

      Nigel Coggins, great comment, I agree. The car is so bad ass looking, but why in the fuck did they put in a front bench seat, & on the column? Has to have bucket seats, & a console, I don't even care if it's an automatic, as long as they don't do the stupid on the column horse shit, lol

    Bench bucket was the only way for the guy to get his muscle car but his wife for some reason could only deal with a column shift but not a floor shift ok but the satiety u was told back in 1982 when I stupidly passed on a B5 blue AAR cuda delete car...flat black hood gone bench bucket column shift no stripe s. 1500 dollars an I was driving a 1970 SE CHALLENGER an was unaware that the AAR CUDA was my dream car the road race car there was no joke about going around corners fast the guy who owned it and was trying to sell it would take people fir a ride an bring them back white as a ghost it went around turns so well...I was told.....the black hood kinda blends in nice ly with that green stripes too..
    I never thought I would like a green cuda I walk on a 74 challenger because of this green an it looks great with all black high lights the flat black was for non glare road racing tone down the shine off hood into the drivers eyes I think it looks cool best feature on this car outside the side exhaust....these cars also had special moon dusted center caps versus stock rally's still cant believe I passed on it .if it would have had the stripes I mite have been less reluctant to say no....thanks

      Hey Mr. Mopar Know it all...what the HELL is an AAR 'cuda delete car??? No such thing. You aren't taking your meds again are you. Your comments, while way out there and far from being factual, are quite entertaining I must say. BTW R U a guy with a girl's name or R U a girl???

      Cana box you know the Track cars were 305 cid. This guy said we didn't have a 305 but maybe he was talking about the first couple cars. I drove totally radical 305s. But that was a lot of cats and years ago. Have a great time.

      why are you guys that drive a Kia always badmouthing ANY high performance car...old or new???? And BTW...you sound like you are young and not so smart so I doubt you never heard the name Mark Donahue. He drove the AMC Javelins and was the "Richard Petty" of the Trans Am racing back in those days. He always won more than he lost...oh you don't know who Richard Petty is either???? Wouldn't surprise me...

    1:48 I believe CA cars had their exhaust tips shipped in the trunk from the factory to be installed by the owner or maybe the dealer since exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels was illegal

    • @bultacowally
      @bultacowally 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read an old magazine article on the AAR that mentioned that fact. It stated something to the effect that the automotive world never could figure out how Chrysler got that exhaust system past the corporate lawyers being that it was quite illegal. It makes sense. I have an AAR and can tell you that when you are sitting at a light the fumes will fill the car interior up quite quickly if the windows are down and the breeze is just right.
