I believe Jesus totally understands, has compassion on us. Yes, agree He appreciates our honesty. I think on the verses, “Pour our my heart to God, Cast all my cares to Him, Come to Me all who are weary, He has compassion on the multitude cos He knew they were without a Shepherd, without guidance. . .” I honestly believe that God won’t actually be disapproving, angry or strike us down if we tell Him how we Really feel, even if we’re scared. That’s what the ‘secret place’ is for - “ Can He reach is there, on the silence, at work, washing the pots, gardening, cleaning the toilet!” Yep, pretty sure He can. Especially when tears are falling down our face quietly. Yeah, He knows. And it’s ok to tell Him. He is a very understanding, compassionate God. "Jesus, I'm sorry bout last night...….Jesus, we both know I tried." I opened my phone, and saw I had an email from Jon's site saying new music had gone up. I was ecstatic, and immediately opened Spotify. "Education" played, and I loved it; so punchy and cool as ice. "Red and Gold" played, and it was so meditative, reminded me of "Let Your Love Be Strong." Then this song starts, and the first chords hit, and immediately I know its gonna be different. Save for "Mercy's War," this is the only solo song by Jon that he actually says the Savior's name, so that was something else that set this song apart. I cried after that first line. Its so blunt, but so perfect for the emotion that I felt during that time; it made me feel like I was sitting with my Friend and Counselor, telling him how broken his child is. Beautiful. Jon has meant so much to me in my walk with the Lord, and I attest my faith to him; without his music, I don't think I would be a Christian today. I know that I will never be as special to him as he is to me, but I remember a dream that I had about two months ago. Jon and I were sitting somewhere, and I remember we were writing a song together. There was a definite melody, and we were both playing guitar, just jamming out. Right after I woke up, I couldn't remember a single thing we wrote. I believe that one day, when we're both on the other side, we'll meet, and finish writing that song.

Listening to this a week after my best friend committed suicide. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who struggles with these questions of doubt, especially amid tragedy.

Doubt is something rarely seen in christian music and the only comparable song that sings about doubt is truth im standing on by Leanna Crawford. Doubt is a very real thing in most Christians lives and it can be emotionally based or just intellectually based there can be doubts and be no underlying reason. Its literally the scariest thing anyone could and will ever go through in their walk in Christ. It doesn't just feel like he's not there but like he never was. I'm glad Jon wrote this song it is a great reminder that God has His reasons for things we don't understand and that your not alone in your struggle with doubt. The Christian music industry needs more of these kinds of songs

I have been listening to this song daily since I first heard it last week and shared this song with everyone I spoke to this week. You are reminding me that I can bring Jesus into my anxiety and depression and let him weep with me and gently guide me back into his loving arms and we can walk together through this.

This song is so raw. It reminds me of the grace God gives me and how I have to extend that grace and loving kindness to my husband who’s world is holding on by a tiny thread right now. As a nurse, I’m a fixer and a I try to do everything that I can to lighten and share his burdens, but I can only show him Christ through my love and actions and even my best intentions fall short of God’s standard. ❤️🙏

You have the spirit of David. If you read the book of psalms, David was honest with God. And that’s what God wants, an honest heart. Of course we don’t stay here, but God is closest here. In the Bible it says that clouds and darkness surround Him. He’s closest in the valley. David wasn’t afraid to let God see the anger, the hurt, the fear, the happy, the sad; all of it. The melody is so simple and sweet. I love the honesty. The song of my life. I know He hears me, though. I get desperate at times, but in the end, He is listening to me. He cares. I've found the light. I've finally found Jesus. Years of listening to pastors and reading the Word, but they never registered till now. They finally found their way to my heart. I've searched for Jesus for years, trying to find Him on my own. This year, recently, I've finally found Him through His forgiveness and His mercy. He loves me. Keep searching, don't give up on God. Yeesh, just reading the comments without the song makes me tear up. It's not just been 2020, it's been over a decade of struggling with fear, frustration, and confusion about what God is all about and in turn feeling guilty and shameful for having those feelings. Yet there's still a deep longing and it's songs like this that bring all those feelings up to the surface and I find myself losing it. Listening to this a week after my best friend committed suicide. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who struggles with these questions of doubt, especially amid tragedy.

Doubt is something rarely seen in christian music and the only comparable song that sings about doubt is truth im standing on by Leanna Crawford. Doubt is a very real thing in most Christians lives and it can be emotionally based or just intellectually based there can be doubts and be no underlying reason. Its literally the scariest thing anyone could and will ever go through in their walk in Christ. It doesn't just feel like he's not there but like he never was. I'm glad Jon wrote this song it is a great reminder that God has His reasons for things we don't understand and that your not alone in your struggle with doubt. The Christian music industry needs more of these kinds of songs

I have been listening to this song daily since I first heard it last week and shared this song with everyone I spoke to this week. You are reminding me that I can bring Jesus into my anxiety and depression and let him weep with me and gently guide me back into his loving arms and we can walk together through this.
This is excellent. A true expression of real struggle and honest prayer. I like the doubt mixed with faith because it is a common reality in my life and likely every other Christian.

This song is so raw. It reminds me of the grace God gives me and how I have to extend that grace and loving kindness to my husband who’s world is holding on by a tiny thread right now. As a nurse, I’m a fixer and a I try to do everything that I can to lighten and share his burdens, but I can only show him Christ through my love and actions and even my best intentions fall short of God’s standard. ❤️🙏

You have the spirit of David. If you read the book of psalms, David was honest with God. And that’s what God wants, an honest heart. Of course we don’t stay here, but God is closest here. In the Bible it says that clouds and darkness surround Him. He’s closest in the valley. David wasn’t afraid to let God see the anger, the hurt, the fear, the happy, the sad; all of it. Finally...a "Christian" song I can relate to more often then the others...because I live and work in the "real" world of pain....and can't ignore it. Jesus knew of it too...and felt it the most...especially when, for a brief moment in time...He, as the Very Word of God...was forsaken on the cross....for our sins. I love that Jon Foreman's songs...have always been so real. He's one of my go-to singers for expressing my thoughts about and to God. This song...what has been unspoken in many of our hearts (though God has known and has cared)....I think this song might reach more of the "unsaved"...non-believers...than any of the joyous songs ever could. The melody is so simple and sweet. I love the honesty. The song of my life. I know He hears me, though. I get desperate at times, but in the end, He is listening to me. He cares. I've found the light. I've finally found Jesus. Years of listening to pastors and reading the Word, but they never registered till now. They finally found their way to my heart. I've searched for Jesus for years, trying to find Him on my own. This year, recently, I've finally found Him through His forgiveness and His mercy. He loves me. Keep searching, don't give up on God. It's all worth it.

Yeesh, just reading the comments without the song makes me tear up. It's not just been 2020, it's been over a decade of struggling with fear, frustration, and confusion about what God is all about and in turn feeling guilty and shameful for having those feelings. Yet there's still a deep longing and it's songs like this that bring all those feelings up to the surface and I find myself losing it. But reading all these comments lets me feel a little better that I'm not alone. Thank you guys.
