I'm really sorry about your brother. Sending so much love. This song hits hard and beautifully.
I think the words are so important. The emphasis with the f bomb is essential for the rollercoaster in this song. I feel more. Thank you for not censoring. It's only a bad word because we say it is. Maybe we don't have to believe the words are bad, but instead are used to emphasize a positive message. I have kids. I never censored important words. They're gonna hear those words out of people. I used them as teaching moments. Those words are important when used for expression.
Thank you for sharing you again.

The verse talking to his sister broke me also having lost my little sister 9 years ago 🫶🫶 I feel you pick up on the messaging from Ren so thoughtfully and articulate so well what many of us think and feel. Much respect and love 🫶

He uses autotune for metallic effect, so it’s artistic…not coz he needs it.

Agreed....as I was saying in the video....I was trying to understand why? What specifically was the rationale for using it there in that moment? What emotions would it elicit differently? That's what I was trying to figure out

As others have written, every time Ren releases something new, you think that must be it, he can’t get any better. Wrong. What can be better than this; a piece of art that makes you want to go out and be a better person, and live a life worth living?!

Not money is the root of all evil - money is a tool - the love of money (greed) is the root of many evils.
    Very good reaction again.

It’s also Kujo Beat Down p2 - a collab with another producer who had a similar problem with Kujo.
Also Boi is Welsh slang for lad or bloke so I think he uses it to advertise his Welshness

It carries on the themes of the Money Games Trilogy but I think this one is more personal. Big Brother to little sister appreciation and life advice.

Lenny Bruce and Allen Ginsberg left Ren that word as part of the poetic heritage of street English. No better way to proclaim unending rage.

Good morning Aaron. I am so glad you were able to get to this newest masterpiece from Ren. I thought I would make some things clearer for you concerning this particular song so let's discuss it.
This song is not a continuation of the Money Game series nor related to Money Game. It is not Part 4. This is a separate song that, instead of being about anger and expressive aggression, is about sorrow and frustration about the KujoBeats situation, a way to thank and celebrate his sister's birthday and life, and to come to terms with what it all means for himself.
The opening sequence was voiced by his dear friend Kit and you rightly surmised that it is a passage from the Bible, precisely Timothy 6:6-10.
This was recorded in Brighton before he had to go back to Canada due to his health issues.
Multiple members of his production team, including himself, were involved in the actual cinematography which is bloody brilliant. This video, by itself, should get a goddamn award.
The beat was produced in collaboration with another beats producer, named Nayz, who is a brilliant beats producer, and also experienced the same greed and attention from KujoBeats, so he is splitting the proceeds and ownership of the Master 50/50 with Nayz. Nayz and Ren worked together closely on this project and its really amazing. Please go check out Nayz's work here: www.youtube.com/@nayz
Originally, the song was supposed to release on the day of his sister's birthday, but due to his health, scheduling conflicts, and other BTS issues, it got delayed significantly, but we're all joyful that it still got released.
His sister is named Leah. She is not a professional artist, like Ren is, but is a homesteader, living off grid and off her own land for energy, food, water, security, and joy. She is an amazing young woman and I am certain that while she does not express herself in the same way Ren does, knowing Ren and their parents, I am certain she has the same level of grit and ferocity for life.
EDIT: I must state: Thank you for talking to us about your brother and the loss of that love and greatness from your life. People never have to talk about their personal experiences, but it is appreciated to know that this song is a little more special for you because of your experiences.
The title of the song, just as the words are, are a double entendre of itself: Money Ties (money is what binds us together and keeps us from 'running' away) and Monetise (to gain monetary wealth from the products or services one provides expressly for the purpose of monetary gain).
As others have suggested, the usage of AutoTune is strictly for artistic purposes. He has used it in several other songs, often sparingly even in those instances, to make an artistic point or form of expression. Ren does not use AutoTune regularly. He even made a comment, if I recall correctly, during his interview with Knox Hill almost a year ago, about AutoTune and that he feels it is a TOOL to be used for the purpose of art and if an artist uses AutoTune regularly, that they should seek out help to grow their voice capabilities, instead of relying on AI and algorithms to make you sound good... or you know, just not sing professionally. He has always said that people should enjoy and make music however they wish, but not at the expense of themselves and their gifts.
This is easily one of Ren's best songs. Period. It is so rich in texture, intent, meaning, sound, scope, visuals, and artistry. It is like... a second Hi Ren, but perhaps the next chapter of Ren. It feels like a new chapter, a new start, like something has come and gone and it's ok.
BTW, I am unsure if others have commented on this, but Ren's favorite song from the Sick Boi album is Seven Sins. It is all about Sin (related to the Money Game series), but most specifically, the first half is about his own personal struggle with sin, his struggles with his illness, and how he relates to it all.
Also, for more of his 'mainstream' style songs, if you'd like to hear something more 'contemporary' and 'normalised', check out Penitence featuring Molly McKinna. An absolutely gorgeous song from several years ago, part of his Demos II EP, that really feels like a mainstream pop song, but of course, with the Ren alterations that we all know and love.
If you also want to see a massive juxtaposition between his feelings NOW about his illness and his feelings at the BEGINNING of his illness, check out Crutch featuring Bibi, his ex-girlfriend then check out Troubles, released earlier this year. Both are crushingly impressive, poignant, deeply personal, and visceral expressions of his illness. I cannot recommend them enough for really getting into his experiences and feelings about his illness, besides what you've already experienced.
Sorry about this extra long one, but I wanted to get out a lot for you! So excited to see where you go from here. Much peace and love to you. ^^

@@kellyt5341 Oh thank you! I try to give a lot of context in a singular post because we as RENegades tend to sparse out so many details that it can be a LITTLE confusing about what is what. I love that Aaron takes notes actively during a reaction. It really lets him consider and think about the experience and make sure he's got those thoughts and feelings from IN THE MOMENT as opposed to trying to collect them after.

Personally, I don't hear the autotune. I hear another layer of Ren's voice in a higher register, which he is more than capable of achieving.
I think Ren just wants to drum home that it's the Love of Money that's the problem, not the money itself. He says in an earlier section while looking in the mirror that money is like a blade, it can cut throats or carve art (I paraphrase here). It's a tool which can be used for good in the right hands.
The amazing thing about this song is that it was produced by @Nayz who is a producer that contacted Ren around the time of the Kujo beats fiasco, saying that he'd also had run ins with the K guy and had almost given up on music altogether. So Ren, being Ren, asked @Nayz to produce this song for him and I think he did an amazing job ❤

...bloody autoplay kicked in (even though it's turned off) and wiped my comment-in-progress...
Much thanks for this reaction mate, you got me to reconsider and listen more carefully to this after I'd kinda distractedly listened to it twice and thought 'yeah, cool, a new Ren song, but nothing really all that remarkable or special...'
That is a really valuable thing you did for me right there, and I appreciate it, and you!
My heart goes out to you, losing your brother, that's so bloody rough. I can't bear the thought of anyone or anything harming my sister let alone losing her, and you brought something of that into how I'm hearing this song, which seriously deepened the way I'm hearing it. Again, thanks!
I think terms like 'autocorrect' can come across a bit deprecatory, even misleading, particularly in cases like this: it's not really 'auto' and certainly not used here to 'correct' anything... Also I wouldn't put it past Ren to use good old-fashioned vocal technique to emulate pitch-shift effects, not that I'm really arguing that's what he did in this case, as I haven't given it a proper 'forensic' listen...
[Edit: my bad with 'autocorrect', that's my brain mishearing words again, but I'll leave the error there to shame myself into being more careful in future... -rather doubt it'll work though...]

While I detest bleeped out videos, especially in music (Ren a lot, but I would have to laugh hard at Chinchilla's MF Diamond being censored).
BUT! I absolutely respect people trying to protect, especially, children from abject degenerative trash content. I may not listen to it, but I will never judge or try to force others to change.
