When I watched the video I was impressed by him being so down to earth with it all. He didn't shit talk other types of whiskeys, he talked about the cheap whiskeys being nice alongside the more expensive ones. I was expecting it all to be a big joke to him to be honest.

I had only tried mainstream whiskys and not really enjoyed it, but when I came to Japan and got Yamazaki (12 year) served I finished eight glasses before the night was done haha :D Very mild alcohol taste with a strong and slightly sweet vanilla taste that I adored.

As someone new to whiskey...have been drinking since January 2017, I fail to get the tasting notes that you guys talk about. Though the only one I could try that you talked about was Jack Daniels because here in India this stuff is nearly double the price. But you guys do make me appreciate and love whiskey more and more. If you think if you think your prices are bad let me make you feel better about your prices. In a US online liquor store a 750ml standard Jack Daniels costs $16.99. Here in my nation from the government liquor monopoly a 700ml bottle of the same is $54.33.

In recent years I've started to get a taste for whiskey (especially bourbon). Up until now I've mostly stuck to the big brands (Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Four Roses, Canadian Club) and always the most basic versions. I just got a Port Charlotte 13yr, and it was one of the more unique flavors I've ever gotten from an Islay whisky. Fresh cut hardwood sawdust with a topping of cut green grass. With a dry finish. Wild. Review to follow.

Love this video guys. I haven't tried a whole lot of Japanese whisky and been looking for more to buy. I have a bottle of Harmony (which I love!) as well as Nikka Coffey Grain, Nikka Tsakasuru Pure Malt, and Kikori but that's all. I've seen Yamazaki at a few small liquor stores around town but it's always really expensive so I've never bought a bottle. I see Hakushu all the time so I'll def have to pick that up and also try to find the Yoichi bc that sounded like something I'd really like! I recently saw the Togouchi in a local supermarket recently and was going to ask you about it bc I had no idea what it was. It was a NAS blend for $45 so prob nothing close to what that 18yo he tried is like. Might try it just for kicks.

omg how did I not found this channel.......I am a strong whiskey drinker. been drinking it for 8 years now. started with a blend chivas regal. and went to lagavulin and glendronach and all that sorts of whiskey. but I still have a quite a hard time. tasting and separating certain flavors. still I love your channel. very good info on everything and it makes me love whiskey even more

I am a Pewdiepie sub and I purchased my first bottle of Whisky from his recommendation. Nikka from the barrel. I found this video from researching Japanese whisky. I have a question : once a bottle has been opened must it be finished by any certain amount of time or will it be ok if left for days/weeks/months etc
Great choice! You have a few years if you keep it sealed and out of direct sunlight. Once the bottle is down to 1/2 or 1/4 you may want to transfer it to a smaller container. If you plan on finishing the whole thing inside of 6 months, you're good to go.

I love your videos guys. After watching them I've been really getting into whiskeys. I trust your opinions when it comes to the flavorings, not which is better or worse because its how we like it, but the flavor profiles on each whiskey. Your descriptions are amazing. My class and I are graduating and as a goodbye gift we are all pitching in to get our badass instructor some badass whiskey (someone stole his, long story...). Anyway, not to shit on your vids but I think it would be really helpful if you could add into the description section, each whiskey, and their respective flavor profiles.

I'm so glad you guys covered Japanese whiskeys. We have the Santori here in our tiny rural PA liquor store. On a whim I tried it with a friend of mine, as we had never even heard of Japanese whiskey, and were blown away. It almost tasted like its own complete type of unique whiskey. Since then, I'll pick up a bottle every couple of months.
Another real unique whiskey I've found (and found not many discussing) is a French whiskey named Bastille. Very floral. Very smooth. With some smoke notes but more so as a part of the cast instead of the lead role. Highly recommended trying it if you can get it in your area

I went out this week and got Toki, Yamazaki 12 and TAKETSURU pure malt. I had to search far and wide just to find them. Hibiki Harmony is no where to be found. I'm shopped in north and central NJ. You're closing comments about how Felix's video is affecting the Japanese whiskey market is absolutely true and anyone watching should go out and stock up while you can. Since watching Felix's video I'm starting down the path. Since watching your video in response, you will be my guide.
