Great to know about the Ala Moana Medical Building. How about a series of the best of Hospital cafeterias and cafes? I am a real fan of them myself for quick, cheap eats. That pocket pie reminds me of the pasties the Scottish and English miners ate. There seems to be a savory hand held pie tradition in many cultures. I love bakeries and yes Felix, black coffee with any pastry is the way to go.
Wow Felix!!! My friend forwarded a link to this video and lo and behold, I recognize you from Kuakini. Great job! Love the commentary! I'll be following you...
Oh wow, meat pies! My partner is an Aussie and when I visited loved eating the meat pies there. Will have to check out the Tuck Shop. Pastries are a weakness so will be going to both other bakeries as well! 🤤 Thanks for letting us know about these local gems. 🤙
Hi Amanda and Felix, please do a review of your best and most authentic, in your opinion, Thai-Lao restaurants on the island. I visit Oahu every year and have not been able to find one that I really love. Most I find mediocre at best. Thanks so much! Love you guys❤
Yummy treats. Tuck Shop is definitely a hidden gem! They have some breakfast pies with spam I thought were interesting, but I liked the steak pie when I went there. Glad you finally made it there.
My husband was grossed out by the wiki wiki but I'm intrigued. Koreans seem to looooove toast in many ways. In Edmonds & Lynnwood, WA, there are shops that specialize in thick sweet dessert toasts served like 🍰. The meat pie is my jam though. Miss La Ronde. Honolulu's original Space Needle.
Maila Gibson told me about that place in the medical building. I wanna try it, it looks really good and you guys make it look ono😂😂😋😋 By the way Amanda, I like your nails❤
Hi Amanda & Felix….I love Japanese and other Asian pastries. I think they’re so popular because overall they aren’t terribly sweet but so yummy. I far prefer the Asian sponge / fresh fruit cake decorated with whipping cream and more fresh fruit over the typical North American birthday cakes with icing. How’s Miss Lucy doing? Loving your bloopers at the end…always makes me laugh. 😊🇨🇦
Ok Felix - don't pull a part a Kiwi pie :) best eaten with loads of Tomato Sauce (Ketchup) and try local NZ's a Mince and Cheese Pie slapped between two thick slices of white bread with real butter!
Hi Amanda and Filex, everything looks delicious Yummy I'm going to visit surfers bakery 1sr. LOVE and GOD Bless You all Aloha Always Sister Chrissy Honolulu Hi 😘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘💜💙🤗
meat pies are a staple in the UK also - steak & kidney, pork pies (my absolute FAVOURITE!), fish pies - so good! it's in the same vein as pot pies here in the US but i don't care for pot pies lol, funny, huh? that pastry i think is a kouign-amann so it shouldn't have any filling. it looks good also!
Looks like you had a gourmet meat pie. It took me about three years in Australia to get used to the idea of a savory pie. If you get a chance to eat a meat pie make sure you peel the lid off and put some ketchup on it. You can either eat the lid separately or put it back on. Great snack either way.
My husband and I went to Scarborough Beach in Perth Australia last month for vacation and we had our first meat pie there. You two were so funny breaking it open to show us what was inside. We will definitely hunt down some meat pies the next time we go to Hawaii.
3:09 $9 USD for a Steak Pie ?? Phew , that is “expensive” from an Aussie point of view.. ($9 usd = $14 aud) Here in Sydney a Steak Pie is from $5 to $7 aud ($7 aud = $4.70 usd) 4:48 definitely a bad idea breaking it apart like that, we just hold it and eat into it. Where is the sauce ? We tend to smother our meat pies with tomato sauce (ketchup what you guys call it) If you get to Australia, you now know how to eat a meat pie 🥧🤙 Cheers Rod
Aloha Foodies Ohana ! No place like home ...yes !!! Mahalo for sharing home goodies ! New Zealand meat pies ...yummy yummy ! Wiki Wiki Toast ! Croffles ! Croqettes & Melon Pan !
❤❤❤ Aloha Friday Y’all So Miss Keeping up with Y’all. Been Moving Around within States myself on a Family Personal Business Matter .. now heading Oahu next in few Day’s for another sad note though…& Same time… Eat’s happy note… going to some of the places y’all shared with us … Now these Donuts & Meat Pies 🥧… Yummy … It looks nice & Crispy on the outside and nicely warm yummy inside
Happy Aloha Friday Amanda and Felix, hope your day is going well. Been to the surf shop, I always get the custard pastry, I love custard, lol. Never been to the Japanese pastry but I need to try when I get home. Didn't know there was a pastry shop at the Ala Moana Medical Center, very interesting. Thank you for sharing and taking me along on your pastry adventure. Have a blessed day Amanda and Felix and be safe. Aloha from Texas. Ahui Hou and Malama Pono
Yum! You had me at the meat pie that look ultra comfort food. Here In Vancouver there are a lot of Asian bakeries that have sweet and savory buns but it's the Japanese buns that are light and delicate that tops it. Great video. Makes me so hungry.
A tuna sandwich with a slice of spam.😂 Next visit home I must get a meat pie! Love the flaky crust. I travel for a good Chestnut dessert! Mainly for the sweet Chestnut cream, this didn't look like it had the cream?
I was wondering if Mam's moved somewhere else! Thanks for answering that question! Now I know! Thought you would stop by 85C Bakery and JJ Squared on Keeaumoku/Kapiolani as well. But, looks like you guys already "bakeried-out!"
Next time in Vancouver, you can try out Peaked Pies. It’s an Aussie Pie place started by an Aussie who moved here and opened up a place in Whistler, BC. They now have locations in downtown Vancouver and in Burnaby BC (city next to Vancouver).
I've wanted to visit Mam's after seeing it on the Food Fiend channel but I kind of forgot so I'm glad you guys reminded me so thank you. Now I know I have to get there early or else everything will be sold old.
I have to try them. I think there is a similar bakery located by Times on Beretania that use to be St. Germaines. Still the same people and still the same desserts..deliciouse bread.

Felix at the end:"What's going on with me?" At least it wasn't a stroke.😜🤣🤣🤣
Hahah 😂
Hi guys! My gf and I really enjoy watching you guys. Keep vlogging as we enjoy your videos!
Love those small specialty bakeries in unexpected locations. Greay idea for a video.
OMG I’m going to check that place out next week… Thanks for sharing

I love bakery items 😍 I have a real weakness for donuts, pastries and cakes lol. But those pies as the beginning of the video looked so good!
Pastries are our weakness too 🤤🤤🤤
We just arrived to Waikiki!! Maybe we will meet somewhere hehe. Have a great weekend!
I miss the old King's Hawaiian Bakery on King Street. Now a bakery and restaurant in Torrance, CA. Luv their sweet bread. Yum!
Can't beat kings bread!
I love NZ meat pies! Absolutely the best!

We’ve been craving more meat pies! Gotta go back soon🤤🙌🏼
As someone who lives in Australia, I definitely do not suggest you rip the pie in half like Felix did 😂
Haha we learned the hard way 😅

Last time Yuji and I went inside the Surfers bakery but didn’t get anything (we were full). This time we will try to get the Wiki Wiki Toast!!

Bakery called Epi Ya 😋
Felix, I think it’s time to bring a pocket knife!
I keep forgetting! Gonna leave one in the camera bag 👍
You should’ve opened from the top.😊😊😊
We messed up on that one 😂 lol p
