    Vote Reform for change.

When this lovely DEI group talk about Labour going for growth, alarm bells ring.
Is that growth by mass migration, and reducing GDP per head?

What we're going to get is Labour saying, "Now that we've had a look at the books, we're going to have to put up taxes." The fact that they know what's in the books already will be overlooked.

A lot of things have been discussed on the centre left on how to raise more tax but the one that isn't is raising taxes on working people it would be counter productive to growth

@peterholden3672 not really, finance wise it sounded good, with the exception of employer NI from 13.8 to 20% - this would affect a lot of small businesses.
But then again if no tax is laid till 20k, this could be offset
And the NHS doesn't need money, it needs reform.
Spent 6 hours in hospital for no reason, one nurse changed my bleeding gaze and then had to wait several hours as I was sent to emergency since urgent care closed. What did emergency do? Make me wait 3.5 hours for another nurse to put some super glue on my wound and give me a tetanus shot. This could have been done by the first nurse...
So much busy work for the detriment of the patients, and the admin costs that should be used for actual treatment

@peterholden3672 there is a lot of money to be used properly
Foreign aid, migrant hotels, getting more people in work
Tax the NHS workers less and give them training. Don't get me started on the 80+k a year dei manager NHS positions. You know what I don't care about when I am bleeding? The color of the doctor, black or white, I don't give a crap. But almost two years ago I had surgery, and had two nurse assistant imports chatting loudly in the ward as patients were recovering from the surgeries trying to sleep. Now these two men weren't raised with manners befitting a person that works in that environment. And since I am a migrant myself I couldn't give a rats 4ss about these two gentlemen who should have been reprimanded
And the problem with the NHS is also an excessive number of migrants who are not net contributors.
The UK already has enough natives on the dole, it does not need to import foreign dependents.
So the NHS has problems because of the population.
And most of it is because of the growth ponzi scheme.
Labour will appeal to parasites who want benefits.
It will also appeal to emotional people who love to spend other people's money in whatever touches their heart strings
The greens want us on horseback and ruminating with the horses since we can't eat the cows.
The libdems don't know what a woman is and are too green as well.
Realistically all we need is government to get off our backs so we can work. We need small government. Not the pile of crap overpaid bloat we have.

    • @caffeineaddictedsloth
      @caffeineaddictedsloth 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@peterholden3672 The reality is that the current model for the NHS and state pensions doesn't work because of the aging population. The young pay for the old but, when the old start to require more than the young can provide, who pays then?
The NHS needs more and more money because there are too many old people needing care, who are no longer paying into the system, and no matter how many people you import, you'll never escape the problem because those people will also require care when they get old. By the time I'm an old man, there won't be enough money for a state pension or to pay for any age related care I need and I will have paid for my elders my whole life to not get the same in return.
If you look at it that way, it's a ponzi scheme. Like all ponzi schemes, it will eventually collapse when there aren't enough "investors" to repay the previous ones. That's why we now have automatic enrolment in private pensions and why the NHS funding model needs reform.

    • @caffeineaddictedsloth
      @caffeineaddictedsloth 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@peterholden3672 I should clarify, I don't advocate for a US style system, I understand the issues with 'uninsurable' individuals (I'd likely be one), ability to pay denying access to lower incomes and profit over everything else.
You've made some good points on the aging population and made me realise I need to look into this more so thank you for shining light on my ignorance.
The ever increasing budget as a percentage of GDP still concerns me but your explanation of the aging population suggests there is a point where that would stop.
I'd still really like to see some kind of funding model that isn't solely at the discretion of the government of the day though. NHS funding is so important that it shouldn't be a factor in elections, politicians shouldn't be able to use the NHS funding as a political tool for re-election.

@peterholden3672 Your reply was respectful and informative, I'm willing to hear people out, engage in discussion and potentially change my views on those terms.
Being aggressive and combative isn't the way to convince people because it just causes them to become defensive.
I don't tend to watch The News Agents but I'll see if I can find the video you're talking about.
We do need to encourage people to have more children, it's an issue across most of the developed world right now.
I think every time period is interesting, they've all had their own unique challenges and I'm sure we'll overcome our own.
Nice to talking to you. 🙂

For many years I enjoyed reading and listening to some brilliant conservative journalists. Iain Dale, Iain Martin, Tim Montgomery and Fraser Nelson. But for some unknown reason all that changed around 2019. The same thing happened with Andrew Neil a man I grew up watching, listening to and reading. With Mr Neil he went on about Boris who was a former employee and on top of that Mr Neil turned into a moan, whiny anti GB News critic. But back to the others, all of them hated Boris so were huge Boris critics, even though he had a massive 85 seat majority, they criticised him constantly, it was sheer hatred. Between them they had joined the anti tory bandwagon that our legacy media loved. In the end an insurrection within the tory party saw the demise of Boris, they quickly turned on Truss. Even though much of what Truss wanted to do has since been proved to be the right thing to do, and indeed the BoE proved to be the main issue and at fault for our stumbling economy. This didn’t seem to matter as these doyens of conservatism aimed their guns at Truss, a PM the party members voted for in huge numbers.
So thanks very much you so-called conservative voices, you actually moved from conservatism to one nation/libdemise. You were a huge part of the reason the Conservative Party I
Has died, well done and I know you all hate Farage and Reform, but maybe if you had backed conservative voices who were drowned out when telling you what was about to happen. Priti Patel, Braverman, Jenrick, Kruger, Cates and JRM your party would still be in power. Shame on you all

What would certainly help with the funding is a reallocation of part or all of the £30 billion a year any UK government is currently paying as interest to the commercial banks on their QE money held in the reserves of the Bank of England. Why do we never hear about this? The swinging door between ex senior politicians and senior bankers providing well paid jobs. There is silence about this subject and there shouldn't be.The banks are not easy targets like the pensioners and triple lock which costs a fraction of £30 billion.
