You hit the nail on the head. Not playing Dubon is stupid, as was sendind Luperfido down, and still playing Bergman.
The order of the lineup is a problem. First of all, Tucker is coming up to the plate with no RISP, getting walked, leading off, hitting solo HRs. He has become completely irrelevant in the 2 spot. If Tucker and Alvarez get on base, Espada or whomever is making the lineup decisions, have hitters who don't have power trying to drive the best power hitters on the team in. They are playing small ball with this lineup order. Peña is not going to hit a HR to clear the bases the way that your power hitters will with one swing of the bat. Your power hitters should be in RBI spots, not the other way around. They need to move Tucker to cleanup and Peña to the 2 spot. It makes more sense for Peña to get on base and have Tucker and Alvarez driving him in. This is common sense and I can't believe no one has tried to point this out to Joe Espada. They also need to release Abreu. They need to address 1st base.
Dubon at 3rd or 2nd 2 or 3 times a week. If Bregman doesn't like it, tough. Altuve can DH when not at second.
The problem is is that Alvarez isn't driving in runs this year like he usually does the only time he gets hits is with no one on base go look how bad his risp numbers are this Year there terrible and his power is gone.
@ryanwilliams8612 regardless of what anyone is doing right now, Tucker is leading the team and baseball in HRs and RBI's. He needs to be the one taking the at bats with the most rbi opportunities and him hitting 2nd is not allowing it. Just watch very closely. He is leading off innings, hitting solo HRs, getting walked, and hitting with no RISP.
If you're watching the game right now
Tucker has led off an inning in the last 5 times between the last 2 games. And this has been ongoing. Why do you think they took Alvarez out of the #2 spot? What makes them think it will work for Tucker? With the season that Tucker is having, why should he get on base and expect for Peña to drive him in if Alvarez doesn't. Tucker and Alvarez are HR threats. Peña is not. The most pressing thing that needs to happen is to get Tucker out of the 2 spot and place him in the cleanup spot, where he will be driving runs in. Guys with a high OBP need to be in front of Alvarez and Tucker. I don't understand the hesitation. Peña hit #2 when they won the WS. He won ALCS/WS MVP hitting there. They already know it works, but they refuse to do it and haven't done it since James Click forced Dusty to play him there towards the end of 22 and that entire postseason
@@eltonyancey6426 Yeah I don't understand why they don't use Dubon to give Altuve and Bregman some days off. Altuve is 34 years old. I can't remember when he last had a day off. He has played all but 2 games this season. Bregman played the majority of games last season too. Peña hasn't had a day off at all.
Uncle Mike should be on the coaching staff now! He is a natural coach, oh and a natural hitter. He has the clout with this team, and the guys will listen to him.
Astros are done. Breaks my heart to say it.
Does anyone have an issue firing Espada? Did he ‘earn’ our loyalty being a bench coach?
We need a new voice to light a fire, regardless of whether we’re a buyer or seller at the deadline
For sure, he isn't lighting any fires anywhere.
He earned the confidence of the Astros front office and that's what counts. I thought there was talk of Maldonado being the bench coach for the Astros last year?
If Astros fire Espada who would be the interim manager? Would firing the current Skipper cause turmoil in the dugout?
@@Jeff-lu9wi He's certainly lighting fires with the fans.
Maybe he is not making the decisions. If not, he will still be the fall guy.
@@ktcarl I can only hope it would cause turmoil in the dugout…the kind of turmoil that sends Abreu and Singleton packing, and plays Loperfido at first. The kind that inspires vets like Altuve to run out ground balls, and wakes up Bregs and Alvarez. Gimme some turmoil PLEASE!!!
Astros are a championship team. I can’t believe the bs that’s going on right now. A lot of players are weighing down the team collecting easy money. The organization has made a ton of cash these last 7 years to be this messed up. Cut the players that are slacking and get new guys in here quickly before the fans start asking for changes and don’t go to home games. Still can’t believe all the home games we lost in the playoffs
The Astros have had the Mariners number for a few years. Its the Mariners turn now.
I'm not mad at the Astros, was a great run, what sucks is I really thought we had a better team this year than previous years. Even at times it seems like the "stats are good", but the performance when it matters is not. Ultimately, 8 ALCS record tie would of been nice.... but it ain't happening. Was a great run, not mad, looking forward to some cheaper tickets next season :)
They outhit the mariners and still couldn’t get the w. Weren’t clutch at all. Pitching has become better.
Considering baseball is a mental game, I’m sure giving up early 3 runs like framber feels different than if he gave them up late. Mentally feeling like I have to claw back from 3 plus any extra potential runs later is more stressful than giving up 3 late. Honestly trade Bregman and see what you can get, move Abreu, bring back loperfido, or go trade for someone who can help be a spark for them offensively.
Unfortunately, the team can’t hit when they pitch and they can’t pitch when they hit
Not sure why we're acting like Seattle's pitching is historic. The Mariners are 9th in ERA, 9th in runs allowed. Check how many ks/9 innings they had before playing the Astros. That wasn't impressive either. The Astros are only 8 Ks behind the Mariners in terms of Ks by pitching staffs. And this is in spite of the injuries to the Astros' starting rotation.
Oakland is leading the majors in least amount of innings pitched by their starters. Their starters don't pitch deep into games. Yet their staff had a quality start in 5 of the 7 games against the Astros. So it's not the Mariners' pitching. Even the worst pitching staffs are shutting the Astros down right now.
The Astros are:
#1 in hits and batting avg
#2 in OPS
#10 in RBIs
Team that strikes out the least, BY FAR
A team that has those high offensive rankings should not be 10th in RBIs. The hitters aren't the problem. It's the lineup order.
Whoever is making the lineup order needs to hand it off to someone else .
Can't be having Abreu and Singleton in lineup at Sametime and move Tucker back to 3 or 4 in lineup and move Pena back to 2nd in lineup and keep Bregman at 6th in lineup. Also Dubon should be getting more at bats than singleton with the DH.
You cannot always hit a home run, Do the hitting around the diamond, make the players run, confuse the adversary, When they are worried about the hot and run, then Astros can hit over the fence.
Baseball is about all about streaks. It's still too early to give up.
Either they hit and can't pitch or they pitch and can't hit. They suck. Oh and I hope nobody takes too much from the good pitching vs Seattle because the Mariners strike out more than any other team in baseball, by a good margin too. Good lineups will still light this rotation up. The most frustrating is almost all of these Astros pitching and hitting are supposed to be in their prime window, outside of JV of course. This team shouldn't suck, but they do. And the reason the fan base is on edge is because if the Astros could keep the run going they would be making some serious history as one of the best dynasties ever in sports. But they're choking it away.
They cant beat this team, let's just face it. Whatever invisibility or edge we had over them for the last 5 years is long gone.
We do in the playoffs when it counts
@@graysonberry we played them once in the playoffs and that was their first time in october since 01
I'll give them credit when they beat us on games that matter
Go mariners
I put the tomb stone down a month ago.
We've reached the point where talent wise we have peaked and the other teams we have smacked around for a few years have improved, i can safely say i never knew mlb fans could be so jealous and hate filled toward a franchise, one thats always had a decent loyal fan base and team that has always been competitive but mediocre at best for lots of years, last i checked we dont play in the LA or NY leagues, its the NL and the AL, It's great you love your team I get that, but once in a while don't you like to see an underdog or the little guy get his, today's world is all about control in everyday life and in sports It gets to wearing thin , I shouldn't have to be force fed what the national scene and media deems is the latest and greatest, last I checked I also have a mind to make decisions and to like or not like what I want, I am a proud Astros fan and always will be, change sometimes we all fear but it's inevitable , H - town fan base is terrific the teams are competitive and we want to win some titles ,the culture has been built I think the right people are in place ( owners ,coaches personal) for that to happen, the Stros will be fine , and Texans and the Rockets not the bottle rockets lol are fixing to take flight and keep the National scene and media hating the H.
It's funny how the season crane started putting "baseball" guys in the management decisions it all went down hill quick
Astros need more creativity at manufacturing runs. They need to do something unexpected against the opposing pitcher.
Same crap as last year. Extra innings, man on second and we don’t bunt the man to third base with the first batter up. Terrible baseball.
Are Astros fans ready to stick a fork in this team yet? I still think there is time to turn it around in a long season buttttttttttt they currently aren't showing they have what it takes to make a good run.
At what point does Espada get replaced?
Here some more stats in the last 30 games the following players batting averages are below .240 altuve bregman Diaz pena tucker singleton. Only 2 players in the last 30 games are hitting above that average yordan and Jake meyers
I thought Dubon's avg is .319? Maybe that's why he is on the bench.
@@ktcarl I was talking about the last 30 games I didn't include dubon because he barely plays
@@krisg3818 That is insane.
That's the state bball is in right now, too many muscleheads, not enough Tony Gwinns, Lou Brock's, Pete Roses. Strikeout, popup, or homerun equals boring.
JG is just stirrin' the pot. This team is in deep doo-doo.
The Houston Astros are done
Trade Bregman if you can, trade Tucker at the deadline, trade Framber, trade Presley, cut Abreau.
So you just want a complete rebuild and waste some good years of Yordan and back end years of Altuve? If so, you gotta trade Chas and bring up Loperfido.
But WE MUST keep Julia Morales!!!!!
If I were the stros I would buy this deadline. Try and recapture the magic and sneak into the post season. If the Astros miss the playoffs this year and the aren’t sitting pretty during next years trade deadline. Then I would sell and blow it up
@@Michael-uu7zq all depends on where we are at the trade deadline. Shoot if we are 10+ games back we could easily be sellers.
Even if the Astros don’t make the playoffs this year they have the core players to just add a couple of pieces and they will be right back next year.
There will be no fire sale that’s ridiculous to even say sound like Yankees talking that way.
Espada can’t coach this has nothing to do with injuries. It just Espada non chalant approach just make players not play their best. Dana May have strong hold on him This Gm is the Astros problem. That why braces part ways with him
Astros will be 5 games under .500 June 20th
It's slowly turning in to the Dallas cowboys organization! A team full of All Star's and Hall of Famers! Pitching coach is garbage and the Hitting coach I don't even know how he has a JOB! and Joe need to start lighting fires and get angry! If a player cannot take constructive criticism don't have them on the team! Swinging at balls and looking at strikes! This is the most boring and frustrating season of baseball I've ever watched even the 10 years of being the LastStros was more exciting!
Every team has it's time except the Mariners so it's about time they get rid of the fear of the Astros!!! Go Mariners!! I guess 8 for 18 would be good on any other team except the Astros..stop it !!!
I really thought the M's lost the game when Ryan Bliss pinch hit in the 9th with Julio on 3rd and didn't lay down a sac bunt for the walk off. Once it went to the 10th I had no faith in the Mariners - but this year's Astros are not the team we have been watching the past several years. I don't see the cutthroat finishing this year.
Fire Espada and hire a manger who knows what he’s doing and has experience gosh! These rookie coaches are trash
And let the manager make decisions.
you say you had 3 quality starts......remember its against the lousy Mariner offense in marine air. Pump your breaks with that. LOL
Houston is not the same team .....whether they win the division or not......they are not going anywhere. It was a great fun. Don't be a blind homer.
All-star roster playing like trash
LOLOLOLOL
Hopefully all that cheating is finally catching up with you guys!! 😂😂
That was almost 7 years ago. lol sorry you never got the satisfaction
Astros should've kept Neris Phil Maton Ryan Stanik and Astros should've DFA Jose Abreu and Montero last year when the season was over last year
At least Montero is doing OK for now. Maton and Nerris would be great to have. Who the hell made that decision? Crane or Bagwell?
@@eltonyancey6426 or maybe both made the decision
