    First of all thank you for this video and sorry if my comment will be long :)
    When Nikon announced Zfc I knew I want it. I love old analog manual cameras, so the look of it was exactly for me. So after 11 years of using D90 I finally bought it and fell in love. I was affraid that lack of grip can be disadvatage for me, that's why I bought SmallRig grip even before Zfc. It was good choice, because when I mounted my old Tokina 11-20/2.8 with FTZ it was hard to hold without grip. I decided to buy it with 16-50 kit lens and FTZ II adapter. Very quickly bought Nikkor 28/2.8 and Nikkor 50-250. Some time later full frame Viltrox 85/1.8. With my old F mount 35/1.8G, 50/1.8G and Tokina 11-20/2.8 have nice set of lenses. I'm impressed with image quality, even directly from camera. Very surprised how it handles high ISO, I have even compared quality of D90's highest ISO (3200) with Zfc and it started to look a bit similar at 32000 I realized how big progress is in this technology.
    As I expected, I love the dials. Not because before I bought D90 I used manual analog cameras and I just love it, but they simply work for me. I almost don't use display, menu is just to format memory card and set auto ISO when making bird photography. I've set function button to switch AF mode, AE lock is for magnification when I'm focusing manually. For the rest setting there are dials on the top :)
    I can't agree with one thing repeated like a mantra. For me it doesn't feel plastic. Maybe I just don't think about it. Just grab the camera and make photos. Sorry for words, but this plasticity mantra is bullshit for me. If I want something that feels metal and is heavy I take one of my old analog cameras, especially medium format Bronica SQ-A and then feel that I'm holding something solid, made of metal. For me all modern digital cameras are plastic toys when comparing to old cameras. My Zfc survived safari in Kenya and made tons of nice photos, few really great. I was wondering how big prints can I get out of it, so I cropped 1:3 panorama out of single frame and printed 30x90cm. It is stunning and it is only 20MPix APS-C camera.
    OK, so far I was talking only of what I love. Now, what I miss. Sensor stabilization would be great. I've been living without it for years, but it could be useful. I miss good travel zooms - wide and universal. In Kenya I was using 16-50 kit and 50-250 tele, because I wanted to have as light luggage as possible. They did their work, but I hope Tamron will release Z mount versions of their 11-20/2.8 and 17-70/2.8 zooms. Do I miss anything else?... read below.
    Before I bought Zfc, I was thinking about full frame. Z5 was only a bit more expensive than Zfc, but I wasn't sure that I need full frame. Just started to think that if Nikon would ever release full frame camera with Zfc look, even on Z5 level, I'll buy it. And they did it, they did it much better than Z5, even better than Z6 II. Oh, Zf is great, but... the price. At first I said to myself - I'll buy it however expensive it will be. I'll buy it with 14-30/4 and 24-120 and maybe 50/1.8, because I don't want to use FTZ anymore. But after some time I can't justify this purchase. Yes, I could afford it, but do I really need it? Especially when I printed this 30x90cm print? So, what I miss not having Zf? Full frame, sensor stabilization, great AF. Would be nice to have it, but I'll wait for these Tamrons I mentioned above. They will cost me 1/4 of Zf's + lenses price. My last purchase was Tamron 100-400 for birds (F mount, full frame lens), I paid for it 1/3 of Tamron's 150-500 Z mount price. So for now, I stay with my beautiful Zfc. Viltrox and Sigma have nice APS-C prime kenses, Tamron hopefully will release these zooms I'm waiting for.

      You have built yourself a nice setup. You pretty much cover everything with these lenses. I would argue that since you do so much wildlife and travel, the apsc sensor makes more sense for you because of the more reach you can get from your lenses. High iso on the zfc is great but like you said I would also love some kind of stabilization. Would make low light photography even better.
      I love how we all realize how good this camera is after printing an image.
      Also , these Tamrons will show up eventually. Cannot wait for more Tamron and sigma glass 🥂
      About the plastic part like I said in the video , that was just my first impression. Over the time this camera grew with me, I realized how robust it actually is. It's a tough camera , a workhorse 💪
      Personally all I want from the zfc is better video (since I'm creating videos) , a fast 16-50mm zoom lens (sigma maybe?) and dual SD card slots. Pretty sure Nikon will build an apsc camera with all these things sooner or later.

    • @zureq2946
      @zureq2946 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% agree. And because of all I've written earlier Zfc will stay with me for years, even if some day I'll change my mind and move to full frame. I agree with you that APS-C is good choice for wildlife or bird photography. Smaller lenses, crop factor although my Tamron 100-400 is quite big and heavy (but it's full frame lens) if I want these 150-600 in full frame it would be even bigger and heavier.
      And once again, the prints. They convinced me that quality I get from Zfc is really good enough to make really big, great looking prints.
      It is nice to read all these comments under your video and see, that there are more people who decided not just to read/watch reviews, but grab it and verify by themselves how good this camera is :)

    Crop Fuji cameras are not as sharp as you think. The only camera that I would consider for purchase, having a Nikon ZFC - Nikon Z7 II or Fujifilm GFX50. But at the same time, I would not sell ZFC and wait for Z50 II. I hope that there will be 26 MP, stabilization and logs)). P.S. No need to torment yourself about the second slot for memory cards. A few Sundisk/Lexar with their change after each shooting will reduce all risks to 0.

    I am changing from Canon R7 to Nikon Z fc within a week. Unless something comes up. I have had R7 for a 1,5 years and I realized it never really got used. Heck, I used my olde 7 megapixel Olympus FE 240 more. This made me think I don't need this very advanced camera with bigger heavier body. I need smaller camera. This time Z fc happens to be just that. Hopefully I will like it more than R7. Makes no sense to have camera, you don't use and love. Thank you for these Z fc videos. Hi! I just discovered your channel and subscribed, because I found the answers to my questions and my research. I had a lot of Fuji bodies in the past an now I have Olympus for the second time. I also had a Z50 with the kit lenses. I perfectly know now that I want to go back to the Dx line of Nikon Z. I looooooved the Nikon Z50. I don’t like it so lunch visually but I had the best ergonomic experience that even Fuji wasn’t capable of, not even the with XH1. I left Nikon because I can’t afford most of Nikon lenses, but the kit lenses are very good and I can buy some new Nikons, and… there are some excellent lenses like the Sigma 56mm. Nikon would sell such lens for a fortune. That being said, there is something very important for me : Nikon colors !!! I can’t have it elsewhere. Now, the only question is… shall I buy the Zfc or the Z50? Will the beautiful Zfc give me satisfaction ergonomically? Can you help me on this? Did you try the Z50? Well, thank you for the nice videos, congrats for the beautiful images, and good luck with your new photo proffessional activity ! Francisco.

      Thank you so much mate!! I personally would chose the zfc over the z50 anyday. You have the choice to use a grip (or not). I hate the screen on the z50 because if i want to record myself i cant do it on a tripod. And the zfc has better af. It has more options for af aswell. So over all its the better camera without costing a lot more. The images and videos are the same tho , so quality wise theres no difference.

    There are photographic equipment rentals. It is reasonable to borrow second body with 2sd card slots (like Nikon z6II) for more serious assigments. It is usually not that expensive. You can also upgrade you camera to Zf and use all your lenses in crop\dx sensor mode. As far as I checked sniper series works great on a full frame, vignette is really small. I would like to use my zfc more professionaly and I have similar concerns. Happy New Year, Ilias!

      I have booked 5 weddings (hopefully many more to come) and I'm thinking what to do in these situations. I'm thinking about the zf but sadly It can't record video in both SD cards at the same time. But then I'm just out here and think if I actually need to the dual video recording? It would be nice to also learn how to do video for weddings but I already work with a videographer. Everything is just all around the place in my mind and I want to make a decision which will cover me for years to come. That's why I'm not pulling the trigger on the Zf.
      Sorry for all the nonsense, I'm trying to sort my thoughts out 😂

      @@IliasKoureas It is a fair point, but I think I wouldn't change entire system just for dual sd video recording. I would buy second zf body (what I plan to do anyway) or borrow z6II. I'd place one camera with AF wide (16-23) focal lenght lens on a tripod. Then I'd also record video with second camera body on a gimbal with longer (56mm) lens. In worst case scenario I'd have backup recording from the tripod camera. It is kind of emotional choice, because I really like Nikon Z system and Z fc/Zf cameras.

    Hi Ilias, first of all I thank you for your work on TH-cam. I really like your videos, and I find them very useful and inspiring.
    I am an old boy born in 1963 and I have been professionally involved in photography for over thirty years.
    Regarding the ZFC single slot issue, I can tell you one thing: for professional work (weddings, ceremonies or anything else) there is one thing more important than having two cards in the same machine, and that is having AT LEAST two camera bodies. Because if it is true that the memory card can fail (since I have been shooting digitally it has never happened to me) it is also true that the camera itself can also fail, and leave you stranded. So, if you want to feel confident in tackling an assignment professionally, make sure you have at least two camera bodies (even with just one slot, it doesn't matter).
    This will allow you to be sure of being able to finish the job and also, last but not least, having two camera units allows you to mount two fixed lenses (for example a 35mm and an 85mm) and use them depending on the moment.
    So if you are not interested in necessarily switching to the full frame, consider adding a second ZFC body to your current one and you will live peacefully for all your photo shoots. My two cents.
    Good luck and good work!

    Great video, llias. I also watched your another video about recommended lens for Z fc. My Z fc is arriving tomorrow and I look forward to hold it. I am in India and just a hobbiest. I have been shooting for many years, from the days of film cameras. I have owned CHINON CP 7 (sloten), Nikon N70, D50(sold), D90 (still have, but defective).I once fell in love with Minolta X-700, but could not own it. Now Z fc looks amazing. So, now looking forward to my Z fc. Will update once I have it. Thanks again for the great videos.

    I am á portrait painter and I want to make photo portraits with bokeh backgrounds for reference for me to use for my portrait painting commissions.
    I have the kit lens 16-50 mm and the 50-250 mm lens. Do you think it’s also good to buy the 35mm f1.7 lens for better portrait photography?
    And do I need to buy á filter for using that objective in sunlight?

    I bought the Zfc when it first came out and absolutely LOVE IT. Image quality and colour rendition is superb. Kit lenses 16-50 and 50-250 are excellent. I love the aesthetics and feel of the camera. I have supplemented the lens with the excellent Viltrox lenses on offer. I bought the Z8 about 8 months ago but find myself reaching for the Zfc on most occasions unless I'm shooting wildlife or sports. The Zfc just makes my heart sing and I always fall in love with photography again when I use it 😀

    I really hope Nikon won't abandon the z dx lineup, I think the lens selection with the 3rd party lens are fairly good(like usable, obviously more would be better) but I think it would be time soon to release a z50ii with ibis, updated processor, etc, even if they don't plan to release a pro dx camera. Because otherwise Fuji supposedly has really good af now with the x-t5 and x-h2, while being relatively affordable pro cameras. Sony a6700 finally has a front dial and better menus, and both the sony and fuji has much better lens selection, you know it will be supported for a long time, has ibis, much better video options, etc. And while I love my 16-50, the best kit lens on the market is the fuji 18-55 hands down. I think the main selling point of the nikon z dx system right now is price, z50 and even z fc is really cheap nowadays, I bought my z50 with the kit lens for less than 500 euros with a shutter count of less than 600 pictures. The 40mm and the new 24mm lenses are pretty good optically and really affordable, so if someone wants a budget system it is really good, but there isn't really an upgrade path(I don't think using aps-c lens long term with their ff cameras are real upgrade paths honestly). Also, I personally had an SD card failure, I only had travel photos on it from my vacation, so it wasn't that big of a deal but still hurts a bit. As a wedding photographer I can't even imagine your stress.

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Im positive that nikon will release a PRO apsc camera. The question is when.. because the more they wait the more they lose customers to fuji and sony like you said.
      But yes , for now the nikon apsc cameras are really low budget which great for anyone starting out. Finally beginners dont have to suffer with entry level dslr's.

    • @IliasKoureas

    Happy New Year, Ilias, and congrats on 5K subs🎉. Credible and balanced, use-based review. Fine pics and footage. Music choice a plus. Would have been better, IMO, with text noted dividers for each major point, like ergonomics, AF, color rendition, and SD card slot.
    Overdone hand gestures detract from vid, IMO. Gotta keep them “muted”, even though they keep in time with your cadence. 😊Duplicate pics should have been deleted, IMO.

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I rarely use the evf. Mostly do it just to check the exposure when the sun is really bright.
      This obviously has something to do with me being tall as well. I'm 1.91m so shooting from this height is almost never flattering. And that's one of the reasons that I keep using the screen.

      It's a hard topic. The z8 would be my dream camera but I can't afford it right now.
      The zf is almost perfect for me but I can't record video in both SD cards sadly and I need that for weddings. The z7ii and z6ii don't shoot log internally and offer only 8 bit video. I would have to invest in a atamos ninja V to make these cameras good video cameras.
      So I will wait for the z6iii or just get the Lumix s5iix. I need a camera that will be future proof for both video and photography and these two are my only options (+ the Sony a7iv but I much rather get the Lumix).
