Day trading in my opinion shouldn't even be proposed to newbies, even through you have acknowledged on the high risk. People may be enticed by the high reward of 10% - 20% growth in a single day, but the downside is that they may also lose everything in a single day.
I bet what kelvin means is that if one started with a demo trading account they can't feel the burn as much haha! Joke aside, I do have couple of friends doing day trading and earning however it required tremendous effort in doing the homework.

If you can handle high volatility, and high risk to lose money, go for oversea stocks, otherwise try out local stocks first. As long as you don't use margin, you will never lose more than 100%
