    this is the second M1 carbine disassembly video i've seen lately where the recoil lug was incorrectly pulled off the stock with the action. that lug stays on the stock for field stripping, just slip off the barrel band then lift up on the barrel and the receiver will pivot off the recoil lug.

    Impressive instruction video of the Inland M1 carbine, I own a 1943 Inland M1 Carbine too and I will be using your video for cleaning my carbine. Great job 👍

    Amazingly good job with the lighting, etc. First good M1 Carbine clip I've ever seen on TH-cam.

    A Sincere Thank You for this video. Good lighting and a camera close enough to see what you're doing makes this the best M1 assembly/disassembly video on TH-cam.

    I also agree with Mark Kim about the recoil lug. For field strip this part must stay on the stock otherwise it requires additional tools (screw driver) to remove which goes against the field strip concept. Being an infantryman I know how important that would be. I would like to see you redo this video for that reason as well as using a cartridge to remove the barrel band screw and for depressing the spring to slide the band off. All in all, your video is excellent.

    Fantastic explanation of field take down and assembly of the carbine. Your detail descriptions and clear views are excellent. You described and showed how to maintain this firearm very well. Thank you so much for this video.

      I really appreciate your kind words and constructive criticism. I've learned quite a bit from my viewers after uploading these. Maybe I was too liberal with the term "field strip" as I was just going for a general disassembly tutorial. Thanks for watching, and again thanks for the tips.

    Hello, great video. BTW, the front band screw is shaped like that so that you can use a cartridge case rim to loosen and tighten it. Its a neat feature in my opinion. Also, I highly recommend an original style sling and oiler for these. It makes a handy carbine even more handy and authentic looking. Just my opinion.

      @@percillasalas874 I would stick to products that are intended for use with firearms. That being said, I'm not a professional and I don't know what issues you are having. The M-1 carbine is a classic piece of firearms history and I would recommend discussing these questions with your local gun shop or gunsmith.

      For anything beyond field striping, there are some special tools that armorers use. One to have is the bolt disassembly/assembly tool, as it's very hard to do by hand. You can still get these from a few sources at a reasonable cost. If your bolt is dirty, disassemble and clean. The firing pin and extractor are in the bolt, so it's a very critical assembly.

  • @patricklocke3487
    @patricklocke3487 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was reading the comment on using a cartridge rim to remove the front band screw and noticed that the spring catch for the band is designed to use the cartridge to depress and release the catch which will allow the removal of the band. That is true field strip, it must be able to be done without other tools, thus the concept "field strip". The band on mine is a bit different than this one, it is the wider band with the screw on the bottom with the sling loop permanently mounted.

    That's a nice looking carbine! I have I guess you could call it a sibling to yours as mine was made by Saginaw S'G', but it is in the same configuration down to the adjustable rear sight.

    the barrel band screw shouldn't be removed. it's designed to remain captured in the band (probably so it wouldn't get lost in the field).

      Thanks for the tip! You're probably right about that. It would suck to lose one in a combat zone. Hope you enjoyed it.

      I have not disassembled my sights but given that they are only dovetailed into the receiver, I dont see why you couldn't take them apart while on the gun. The CMP's website may have detailed instructions for it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

    • @elimtevir1
      @elimtevir1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rear Sight does need some tools to remove as it is dovetailed by factory or a gunsmith, I would highly recommend to take it to a smith for that.
