Huge 30 carbine fan and this is gold! Growing up inland ww2 M1 of my dad's later bought a universe carbine 78 it was crap. M1 shooter had to hunt for good magazine 1 out of 10 would work 100% I been wanting a futon armory M1 with your magazine. Soon!!!
Same here. I mostly ran SP ammo though mine for years since that's all that was allowed in my old hometown range. The increased angle of the follower helps improve chambering reliability with SP and HP ammo, at least that's been my experience. Thanks for your comment.
Was the magazine release updated between the M1 & M2? I’ve heard: Type 1 magazines function properly in the M1 Type 2 magazines function properly in both But Type 1 magazines do not function properly in M2s. If most carbines were Converted to M2 pattern, would that mean M1, Type 1 magazines are more likely to have issues?
That's a very good question. In my opinion, the geometry and condition of the magazine feed lips have more of an influence on reliability regardless of type. If anything, I would think the type 2 magazine button would improve magazine retention and stability.
I need about 9 of these for my kit, what material are the orange followers made from? My only concern is chipping of the follower when the bolt catches.
Both versions are printed using PETG. Its a strong material with good layer adhesion and temperature resistance, and is somewhat flexible without being brittle. After a few hundred rounds of function testing different follower prototypes, I noted minimal if any deformation at the back of the follower where the bolt catches.
@@PrescribedFire Good deal, I was curious about heat resistance as well but the bolt face isnt exactly the thing that gets terribly hot as opposed to other parts of the rifle. I've just bought 12 of your BHO followers and I'm looking forward to tossin' em in my mags for extensive testing. I'll send you some feedback after a couple range sessions!
Update: Over the past month, I've ran 500 to 750 rounds through my Carbine using the enhanced followers. They've practically cured the nosedive issue that used to plague my M1. I also ran the gun hard while doing some extensive training. The followers didnt experience any melting nor chipping under hard use. You really got something here with these enhanced followers dude. As a side note, I've also combined these followers with Wolff extra power mag springs for the 30 round magazines. Between the enhanced followers and improved springs its pretty much eliminated most of the reliability issues that come with M1 mags. In conclusion; These things absolutely work and I'll be buying more shortly to put in all of my magazines.
I noticed a huge improvement in reliability after I installed the Wolff spring kit in my '44 Inland. The Wolff magazine springs also helped but didn't alleviate the feeding issues.
Unfortunately, TH-cam and other platforms have restrictive policies regarding anything related to firearms, and generally ban the inclusion of sales links. This afternoon, I had to repost the sales page for one of the followers after it was flagged and taken down due to similar policy restrictions.
The geometry of the follower body and bullet guide is the same for both versions, the only difference being the back of the bullet guide being flat or angled.
I purchased 6 of the orange followers from E Bay... inserted them in my mags just as you did on the video, and they worked great...!! Thanks ...!!
That's awesome, glad they work well for you! Thanks!

The little "walls" on the magazine follower ride up against the walls of the magazine and push up against it when pressed, preventing it from tilting.
I've been using 30 round KCI mags and have had no problems in my 1943 Inland, my Inland Advisor or my Iver Johnson Enforcer
Been lucky with mine so far. I have a 43 Underwood and 6 mags of various manufacture and they all seem to work fine
I didn't even know about these newer magazines. Thanks for the info my Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲
Youre welcome!
wonderful idea and execution. I have had issues with soft points from this issue.

I second the same question stated under this statement. How can I order these followers?

@@SchwererGustavThe800mmthat's awesome man, thanks for putting them through the gauntlet!
I've had this issue with GI mags. But 1 works all the time. I thought maybe it was a firing pin issue.

How can I order the new follower.😊
