    Eddie released this June 1980. Later would come what would be Eddie's most successful and signature Song - I Love A Rainy Night.

    This song was in the soundtrack for a movie called "Roadie" that was came out in 1980. I have that movie on DVD. It starred Meat Loaf and Art Carney, with cameos of the following... Merle Kilgore, Jack Elliott, Roy Orbison, Hank Jr with his band, Debbie Harry, Ray Benson with his band Asleep at the Wheel, Alice Cooper with his band. This soundtrack had a song that won a grammy in 1980... "That Lovin' You Feelin' Again" by Emmylou Harris and Roy Orbison. I'll always remember where I was when I had heard that Eddie Rabbitt had passed away, I was outside in my back grilling some steaks for lunch - as it was Mother's Day.

    Truck driving song. Anybody that's pulled a legal load on a semi....................or not so legal can relate, or any rig with some weight to it. He did a fine job and a true song. Thanks, Don.

    This was early 80’s. Two other hits you’d probably like are I Love A Rainy Night & The Wonderer.

    Eddie was a great singer and songwriter. I remember after he died a local DJ played an hour long interview that he had done with Eddie years before. In that interview Eddie was asked about writing Kentucky Rain for Elvis, and he asked him if he ever got to meet Elvis to which Eddie said yes he had as they were both booked in Vegas and Eddie was introduced to Elvis, and Elvis's shook his hand and said, "Nice to meet you". That was all he said.

    You might remember Two Dollars in the Jukebox. Or Drinking My Baby Off My Mind. He made Country cool in the late 70's. I was in high school

    Finally, Jersey's own Eddie Rabbitt. He is first generation of his Irish family born in the U.S. He wrote one song about Ireland, and his father played fiddle on it. Eddie also wrote "Every Which way but Loose" for a Clint Eastwood movie. On some of his records, he did all the vocals by overdubbing. He was a handsome guy with a great on-stage presence. I believe he died of lung cancer, though he never smoked. He lost a young son, and his wife died not long after Eddie. Sad stories. Thank you for playing Eddie. I hope you will dig around and play more.

    Eddie Rabbitt was a great singer. His death too cancer took a great talent from us way to soon. Thanks for your review to this song. Rocky Mountain Music is probably my favorite of his songs. He also did Someone Could Loose a Heart Tonight. Either would make for a great reaction of his.

    My best friend from high school and I had this song memorized! It took forever! My dad would tell us to shut up when we were singing! We loved "old" country song. I graduated in 06 so my dad did not appreciate us saying this was an "oldie". Thanks for this made me smile

    Great song! Randy Travis did a cover of this for the movie “Black Dog”. It had Randy Travis in it, as well as Patrick Swazyze and Meatloaf

    • @ThatJunkman
      @ThatJunkman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually it was Rhett Akins who did it for the movie. Also some reason Gary Allen did Highway Junkie soundtrack and that was a cover of a Randy song. Randy only had 1 song on the soundtrack.

    Don, good call on hearing his pop sound being similar to what we all heard again in the 90's. Eddie Rabbitt's style helped set the stage for the whole Urban Cowboy movement of the early 80's. This same formula of mixing watered down stereotypical Country with Pop became a thing again in the 90's with Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. It later raised its head in the 2000's with Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift. Yeah, its a big money maker, but it also gives me a headache. :-(

    Eddie was a great talent! Great songwriter, as well as a great singer! I think the ONLY country singer to ever come out of Brooklyn. I believe he died of cancer.
    Don't know if this is true, but I heard that George Strait got a big career break when he filled in for Eddie at the Houston Stock Show & Rodeo, because Eddie was too sick to perform.

    Thanks for doing this, I like Eddie's music back in the 80's and still brush the dust off and play some every now an then. Although Kristofferson is a better song writer Rabbitt was a much better performer. (IMHO)
