Joseph changed my life!! I was 12 years old and performing in the 1995 Toronto Production of Joseph with Donny Osmond. I celebrated my 13th Birthday on the O'Keefe Center Stage.
Donny raises a good point about the character. You need to see the progression from innocent teenager in Act 1 to mature, responsible adult in Act 2, otherwise, you lose the heart and depth of it.
Joseph show has always been my guilty pleasure.... while everyone else seems to like Cats and Jesus, I adore Joseph - every single song!

We did this at school in my primary 2 year back around 1981, the full production (not the 20 mins one) with all the 6/7 year old learning the entirety, including the colours of the coat. . . which I still can quote to this day.
We did this at school in my primary in 1975. It was still unknown & no one had heard of ALW at the time. I liked it because of the Elvis Pharaoh & the song Close Every Door To Me. It wasn't easy to perform, and I was really nervous as a child being on stage. We also went to see Jesus Christ Superstar. I went to a Convent & the nuns thought it would be a good religious show for us to see, so they organised a school trip. They were not too pleased with it when they actually saw it. I remember leaving the theatre with glum faces on the nuns. They thought it was a little blasphemous. It's now my favourite musical.
First show I did when I was 12 and still remember all the colors of Jospeh's coat at 39 years old. It's such a fun show to perform!
Does anyone else think it would be better if this type of video came out *before* the full shows? I would rather get excited for the next one than watch this afterwards.
It depends on how one feels about spoilers. Although this musical and I suspect most others that will be posted have been around for a while so most people watching the behind-the-scenes would have seen the musical already.
@@writerpatrick I mean, this talks more about the concept design and stuff like that rather than the actual story, so I don't think that would be an issue for most videos but it is a possibility.

Seriously, some behind the scenes stuff beforehand is NOT going to ruin the show. It just builds interest.

My favourite musical ever. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve seen it on tour and it never disappoints. I love how all the audience joins in at the end ( I have been known to cast a disparaging look at anyone who doesn’t) and I defy anyone not to come out of the theatre with a big smile on their face ♥️

When Jason was in it, I was traveling to London (from Los Angeles) for the first time and I missed him by a week or two. I was unhappy but I got to see Phillip and he was exactly how this video describes. I really enjoyed the show and I though Schofield was great and I'm a fan to this day. Love watching his morning show from abroad. For those of you worried that I didn't get to see Jason Donovan, last year, I was in London for work and I saw him play the Pharaoh in the new production. Full circle. Also, for those of you who might be worried, huge Donny Osmond fan from way back.
As a kid, this was the first professional stage show I ever saw (in Philadelphia during it's inaugural run evidently!). Still one of my favorites.

Watching Joseph and listening to Starlight Express are my guilty pleasures
I LOVE all the Musicals although I have never watched the original Starlight Express, I have heard some of the Music but never seen it. bucket listing :) I have listened to so many versions of Joseph music and still LOVE Donny Osmonds version the best, so Uplifting and easily the best version. :)

Lynda Hollins See I’ve never seen Starlight Express too. And I know it hasn’t been filmed yet and I have a feeling that these “shows” that Andrew is releasing on TH-cam are the shows that have been recorded and put on video. But dont quote me on that. He may surprise us.
I hope that one day that we will get a chance to see Starlight Express on blu-ray and digital download🤞🤞🤞

This show is such a guilty pleasure of mine. Whenever I'm ill or just feeling down I will watch this show and it makes me feel better. I also got to do it at my local drama group (when I was 13) and I played the narrator which had always been a little dream of mine since I got into it when I was around 7 and here I am at 16, I know basically all the lyrics to every song, got to preform as the narrator and still adore the show so much.
This was the first Broadway show I ever saw. It is still my favorite show.
My mum met Jason Donovon when he played Joseph. My grandmother got her backstage tickets and she has a singed photo in the attic.

I saw Donny Osmond in Vancouver also David Burnham. Livent Inc. Brought many long running musicals to The west Coast of Canada and I miss having them. It is time for me to relight the flame of theatre. I will bring Livent Inc. back to North America.
I had no idea Philip S. played Joseph! I think that would have been amazing to see too!
I saw Philip play Joseph in Dublin Point Theatre in the early 90's and it really was amazing.
My parents saw him on his first night back in '92 for my Mum's birthday and they said that he was incredible.

Believe it or not, I just watched this show a week ago for the first time in my life at St George Utah. I love it so much that I have to google it wanting to know more. I am looking forward to watching it again next year.

Andy Gibb was an excellent Joseph back in the early 1980s. David Cassidy was pretty darn good too.
David was the first brother to perform in Joseph and his brother Patrick following in his footsteps.

Jason is good but Lee Mead will always be my Joseph. I was lucky enough to meet Lee and he's he'sa lovely man..
Me and my family saw Lee Mead back in 2008. My brother and his fiancé saw Jason Donovan as Parson Nathaniel in Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds 10 years later.
