Dr Pitre, Thank you for debunking the Miracle of sharing with one another in the feeding of the 5,000. Even some Catholics have this view. Love your teachings. God bless you!💕
Thank you! I still remember our "Religious Education" teacher in my catholic highschool 20 years ago emphasizing that it was a "miracle of sharing", and me just shaking my head thinking she was wrong since Jesus could create miracles greater than just multiplying bread. Even as a semi agnostic back then I knew that she was wrong on that point.
Great explanation, following the event we find the people following Jesus, and he tells them, you are following me because of the bread you eat not because of my words... .. that alone points to multiplication
Yeah! Dr. Pitre, thank YOU, for clearing this up in a way I can actually understand. I have gotten into successful debates on this very topic. I did not have a substantial argument to back my theory that this was a MIRACLE and not sharing. Now I have one that my opponents can understand why this is NOT a miracle of sharing but an actual MIRACLE! Thank YOU!🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰
A pastor of my former church indeed preached the “sharing” interpretation of the text. He was not very orthodox in other ways, but I also think it appealed to him because it fit in with the near exclusive emphasis on social justice in the denomination. I no longer attend that church.
I'm all for social justice but a good quote for social justice what you to do the least of you you do to me and judge not least ye be judged. The multiplication of the loaves goes back the book of exodus with the bread from heaven.
I have to admit I had never heard this theory, and would likely have considered it absolute bunk before even listening to this, but thank you, Dr. Pitre, for clearly explaining why it absolutely is.
Is Jeremiah and hwta the hell wrong with people ? Fools speaking saying nothing impressing others pretend to understand deceiving self and others Injust self and others unknown to even self pretend to understand guess you know deceiving self exactly unknown void in know
I've never come across this miracle of sharing, but all i can say is, if they truly believe that Jesus Christ is the consubstantial Son of God, then who is anyone to question or change the Gospel truth about His miracles. His Incarnation meant He was fully human, but also fully Divine. No limits.
Wonderful channel Dr. Pitre, always learn so much. Would love your take on the book Through the Eyes of Jesus by Alan Ames, a book describing our Lords journey with his disciples. You get to read Jesus's thoughts as events unfold. Great channel again, thanks.
Great work. Love your way of explaining theology. It would be terrific if you could make a video explaining Judges 19, I think that chapter should have a deeper meaning. God bless 🙏
Thanks for explaining this miraculous event. This sharing idea has been around for some time from those that have difficulty in believing this miracle from heretics. If they believe Jesus' walking on water, then why could they not believe in the feeding of the 5000? Is it true that Jesus had them sit in a square shape to distribute and feed them and in groups of 50s and 100s to spread the loaves of bread, and is there any meaning to as to why Jesus had instructed his apostles to have the people sit in this formation?
He is one of the BEST BIBLE scholars out there. But I STILL don't understand why he thinks the SONS OF GODS fr Gen 6 1-4 were not Fallen Angels ?. Most early Jewish people believe that even fr the DEAD SEA SCROLLS..
I think it is more likely to be preached in mainline protestant churches. The non-denominational, evangelical churches that I know about have no problem with miracles. The context in which I heard it was in a PCUSA (Presbyterian) church.
@@marilynmelzian7370 that is very true, and insightful. I guess to be accurate; I hope this is a niche teaching of theological liberal churches. Like the PCA or ELCA
Who said trust in the church to interpret parables ? Trust in self proclaimed people proclaimed when say that ? When say question none why no man of understanding coming at the end of the age trust none many false prophets . Why you deaf when spoke plain pretend to understand guess you know deceiving self exactly when didn't
I remember being disheartened at Mass the day when I heard the view of sharing. Thank you Dr. Pitre.
Was that a Catholic mass?
@@Kitiwakeright I really hope not
Thanks again for this insight 👍🏼🙏🏽

Well said Brant Petrie!!❤
As always, illuminating insight. I read the passage since childhood but never saw it this way.

For a scholar, I think this is the most violent kind of smack down one can give to a biblical theory. Well done! Thoroughly debunked.
Odd you think you decide like he does
Or point is the Holy Spirit can give without losing anything

Its based from Moses grouping people in similar numbers

Thank you Dr. Pitre, I have heard many times this false interpretation here in Brazil.

I hadn't been seeing these videos in a while now. I feel like youtube is sabotaging me!
Rationalism as part of Modernism.
How did they eat the fresh fish with its scales, gills, intestines, sharp pointed flipppers being tilapia, they were not sushi nor fillet.
Do you suppose that anyone carried raw fish around in their pack in the heat of the day? More likely it was salted and dried.

Rather than exegetical it appears like he argument is eugenics of the Gospels
Pope francis thinks so. He said that...underming our Lord.
