Who ever played the Chopin-Sonata op. 58 may know how difficult it looks to work out it's filigree structure. That composition is full of elements of Bach. There are alwaysys multiple questions if you regard all 3 sonatas as a whole. I miss one more sonata by Chopin written in "A". That would mean "B A C H "...."Maestoso" doesn't mean "as fast as possible". It feels like a movement out of a symphony wich never was composed, A lot of polyphonic elements. From my points of view it's not a piece, composed for pianists only. I played it first time of my life when I was young and even decades later there are so many brand new questions coming out of the score while playing. Maybe the most matured and elegant piano sonata at its time. And compared to nr. 2 in B- minor a different language. I have no words for what op. 58 means to me. It's overwhelming and very important always to controll emotions while practicing it. I'm really excited listening to Ivo very soon when the time will come to listen live in concert again.
