    pretty good video, but what exactly did you do with the wire for the ignition? it wasnt clear as to what you did. are you connecting the wire for the ignition to something. second the last radio needed a code will i need a code to get this one to work.

    • @blackmasta71

      Hey so there are 3 harnesses that come into play here. The factory harness, The adapter plug harness and the radio plugs harness.
      I soldered the adapter plug (side that plugs into vehicle harness) TO the radio plugs harness (plug that goes into the back of the radio).
      The factory connector on the benz has the "key on" wire built in it. The new connector harness plug was missing that wire and pin on the new connector. I added it into the connector.
      The new radio does not require a code.

    I have a question for you ,did you change yourAMP for that car you showed only speakers connection ,what about power lines , by the way could you tell me what brand and mode you installed there are normally have sound problem with original AMP . What about the speakers are they original as well

    • @blackmasta71
      @blackmasta71  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, my suv was the stock sound system. All I changed was the head unit.
      If your suv has an amp then you probably have the bose sound system that came stock in some of those suvs. In that case it makes installing a aftermarket head unit harder.

    What wire from the factory plug is the "key on" wire? I got everything to work, but when I turn the car off and back on, I lose all of my pre-sets.

      I cannot remember now. To quickly find out, Take a volt meter and put your negative lead on the ground pin and then take your positive lead and search for the pin that gives 12V when the key is turned on.

    It must be the double din head unit I have but no matter what I do there is a gap between the faceplate and the dash. Been installing audio equipment for 30 years and never had this kind of issue

    • @blackmasta71
      @blackmasta71  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine had a slight gap too. The stock Mercedes radio was slightly bigger then a double din

      @@blackmasta71 I really appreciate that info. I did some measurements early this morning and I have about a half inch gap between the dash and the faceplate of the head unit. I'm going to try to fabricate something to fill it in but at least I won't beat my brains out now lol.

    hi do you get static or head unit noise? it could be my wiring everhthing works fine its just noisey

    • @blackmasta71
      @blackmasta71  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mine works fine. I soldered all my connections and put heat shrink over top. If your getting static it could be two wires touching each other or something else metal in the car.

    • @blackmasta71

      @Lanternorder 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thanks so much for replying noones responds to questions like these for some reason but. I ordered a another wire harness like your its a vw9000 its compatible with our cars but any way i have the base system. The constant i think its working. When i turn the car on the radio doesnt lose memory anymore connecting yellow with yellow and red with red. But my question is does your radio turn on even when the car keys is in the ignition? Mines only work when i have the keys in

    • @blackmasta71
      @blackmasta71  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beeasyd hey np. so if you have the bose system I think things are a little different. theres other videos on youtube about hooking up the bose to a aftermarket stereo. Yes your stereo should only come on when the keys are in the ignition. the constant power is only for the stereo memory.
