TheMightyZ yes in uk and to a lesser extent, they are the workers who physically visit people who have refused to pay outstanding debts and warrants. Often the debtors have had numerous telephone and /or written contacts with the debt collection agency prior to a collector (or bailiff: which is a term going back to Medieval England) being sent to physically collect the payment or remove goods to pay off the debt.

  • @chrisrainbow2393
    @chrisrainbow2393 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Its simple, Dont acknowledge any mail from them, you can check who letter is from on your laptop.
If its from bailiff/ debt collector, simply mark envelope with NO CONTRACT RETURN TO SENDER , then simply put a cross over your address, but allow it to be seen as it helps the postman, then repost with no stamp.
This will cost them postage, do this for as long as it takes.
Dont answer your door to them, you are not required to under law.Just leave them on the doorstep, they cant enter your home without a warrant and a warrant of entry cant be obtained for a civil action, parking etc and if you Do open your door by mistake, you are not at liberty to answer any questions, so just shut the door.
Police will not get involved over civil law and its best to keep inside, because you cant trust police not to use the old chestnut of Breach of Peace, but they cant if you are not there and bear in mind, its not a criminaloffence to be in debt, no matter what these debt collectors want us to believe and it wont affect your credit rating, as you havent refused to pay, because you havent engaged with them.
Just sit tight, these debt collectors will then send the debt back and another debt collector might be employed......and it will all start again.....they only have 6 years to chase you, so just sit tight.
Remember, a young mother in liverpool was raped in front of her young son by a debt collector, working as a TVL Goon and the law was made to say that you dont have to engage with debt collectors at your door, so you can use this if ever you need defence.
    without prejudice.

Some people are struggling and when they offer what they can afford they say no and then they send letters saying you are refusing to pay! My poor friend was put through hell they told her so many lies so in the end she paid what she could afford a month still got letters saying she was not paying had them ringing her 4 to 5 times a say threatening to take her to court and she told them they cant take her to court as she is not refusing to pay and that she is making the payments she can afford. People comment just pay your bills but sometimes life fucks you up and things fall behind and refusing an offer of payment is not going to help at all and adding on extra fines is just ridiculous!

Is this a joke video? It has to be right?! If not, then this is a mockery of those who actually suffer from depression. You were not forced to work as a bailiff - you chose that job. Stating that the work makes you depressed as an excuse to terrorize normal hard working people, making their lives a living hell, losing all sense of self and purpose with the threat of never ending financial debt - while sitting there behind a mask claiming like you didn't have choice of a better job is absolute madness and beyond insulting.
You should be ashamed of yourself and more so of those who you work for.
If I chose to work at a sewage plant and then went on TH-cam claiming that the job makes me depressed and I'm covered in shit all the time - whose fault is that?! What a joke.

We do it by providng a service that people want and are happy about, rather than stealing off those already too poor to pay (yes, there are a *few* people who could pay debts, that don't, but, with our economy going right down the tubes, that's increasingly not the case).

The trick is to not engage, and not let them in. If you are expecting a visit from them, or are caught off guard, put your most valuable possessions in your children's room (they cannot remove children's property) They will see that you do not have enough collateral and leave with their tails between their legs. Ignore the emotional manipulation and close the door behind ya. Good luck!

& the BBC who made this program, pays over £60 million to TV Licensing. So that they can send goons to the homes of those without a licence. These goons behave as bad if not worse than bailiffs & debt collectors. & just like bailiffs & debt collectors they issue streams of threatening letters. Many people don't realise that they don't need a licence if they don't watch live tv.

My apologies but I can't feel sympathy for people who do not cooperate with a person who has a debt. (don't need to do this work if you do not make enough money, for example, in the logistics sector you can earn a decent income ) I had several debts and always managed to set up a reasonable payment plan with the “biggest” debt collector agencies. The problem is with the small “no-name” companies. They do not care about you at all and just want the money as soon as possible no matter how. Most people want to pay their debts but with a bit more empathy and understanding of their circumstances. If the person only can afford 20£ a month they should accept that and not push them to pay everything in two months. Loads of small amounts from many people are better than constant harassment and don't get anything in the end. This sector should be more regulated and kick out the small collector agencies.

Are we to feel sorry for debt collectors? lol If it's so bad do something else. These companies are set up to exploit people who don't realise when you take out credit you brought the money into existence with your signature. You don't need to pay these debts as it never was a debt, and if it was they would have been paid already when the company bought the debt. They never have proof of claim and can't do anything without your name and consent. These companies should exist and if you decide to work for them extorting money from the poor you deserve all that comes to you.

The former indicates your actual financial position, while the latter facilitates borrowing, which could put you in a circumstance where you must start interacting with these people.

The law needs to get tougher on debtors for non compliance in the early recovery stages. The pre-action protocol is a step in the right direction, yet still missing the point that lawful force eg: court orders, are required in 90% of debt cases due to debtors trying to avoid payment.
Many businesses go bust because their owed thousands and the law is too soft on debtors. Oh and HCEO always call locksmiths to gain entry - every time, as they are under contract to the client to get a result, if and when it goes back to County Court for non compliance and refusal to obey a Court Order.

If his working conditions are that bad then leave. I can tell you now a real enforcement agent is professional, polite empathetic and understanding. There may be bad elements in the industry but people seem to forget the wider details as to why the services of an enforcement agency have to be employed. Generally people that have an issue with enforcement agents tend to be the stereotypical people that have an issue with authority across the board and will deflect their responsibility to make it anyone’s fault part for their own. If you watch all the videos on TH-cam titled things like ‘bailiff gets owned’ or ‘how to get rid of bailiffs in minutes’ etc the bad attitude, aggression and all round poor behaviour comes from the debtor. It’s sad that these people spend more time trying to workout how not to pay for the debts they’ve accumulated rather than deal with the problem. With better communication from both sides these situations can be dealt with civilly.

    • @-Ryodan

If you take out a loan, after an agreed upon amount of time you pay it back, if you cant pay it back then the person who gave you money sends a debt collector to collect the money, if they don't have it, then they take the person's things equal to the value of the money they owe

People have no idea how difficult this job is. I accept that there are many reasons why people get into debt but at the same time, the lies, aggression and excuses that people come up with to avoid paying a debt when they know they owe the money has to also be taken into consideration . I don't agree with the way many bailiffs conduct themselves on house calls etc but it is understandable that there is a lot of pressure because the income for these types of jobs is based on how much debt you can recover. It's not as simple as 'don't do it then' because someone has to and it's a job that might be suitable for some people. Sales people can be terrible liars and exaggerators just to get you to buy a product that you don't really want or need. I know it's completely different but there are bad people in most lines of work. Obviously bailiffs are dealing with people's lives and need to be sensitive to this. At the same time, they need an income to survive themselves. I can see both sides here.

Only nice people choose to contribute to the world and provide a service to others as a career... The rest are scum, end of story. I don't feel sorry for bailiffs. They choose an evil job so they can suffer the hard work.
