This post came up on my feed in our music shop in New Zealand. Couldn’t believe it when Tola Custy walked in the door! We howled with laughter- what are the chances of that! Tola didn’t write the jig (traditional) but it has become associated with him. Du är en bra man Magnus, fortsätt det utmärkta arbetet.

The tune is "The Shannonaires' Jig" or "The Silver Vale".

What tuning are you using on the octave mando? GDAE or open D. Looking forward to the octave mandolin workshop on Mandolin Secrets.

I use GDAE for my octave. Makes the transition super Easy between the two.

Nice tune Magnus! Great tune.....I have an off topic (from this vid) question.....I have an octave mandolin. And a cheap mandolin I currently use.....the idea of a Mandola has always interested me but I was wondering if it can be tuned the same like an octave or std. Mandolin (GDAE) so as not to have to relearn a different tuning but still get a nice woody Mandola sound?
