Was worried this would be an announcement you guys were burnt out and done. So relieved to know the opposite is true! You guys are the gold standard when it comes to boardgame criticism and commentary.
I have to say that the relaunched podcast is soooo good! I listen to an unhealthy amount of tabletop podcasts an your new format for me has the best balance between professionalism and entertainment! Great work
To be honest, I'm a small patreon supporter, not for the perks, but because I like what you've done up until now and I trust you to do interesting new things. So thank you for being you and good luck with the drive 😊
No Pun Included, seriously, you guys are amazing! Your board game reviews are not only super insightful, but also entertaining and accessible to everyone. It's clear you're passionate about the hobby, and your content really helps it grow and evolve. Keep doing your incredible work, and we're excited to see what you come up with next!
Efka's review of Colonialism in boardgames was AMAZING! Elaine's review of space based games as incredible as well! So because board games are not food ... or Rare Historic Beads, donate!
I appreciate y'all for not relying on ads and sponsorships...it's very hard to maintain journalistic integrity and creative freedom if you do! Keep up the good work!
I’m gonna be honest, I don’t think you guys should feel so guilty about sponsors from non tabletop companies. As long as there’s no conflict of interest it’s quite normal.
I mean, the conflict of interest is instantaneous. For one, we could not review that company's games anymore - that's simple journalism ethics but also just plain illegal in some countries (including the UK). Second, a breach of trust would be broken with our audience.
@@Kensai_ no, we did ad reads for Skillshare, that's it. We didn't want to name them in the video because they're no longer our sponsor and we see no point in advertising them anymore.
@@NoPunIncluded That’s what I meant; I’m wondering why you chose to stop. It’s your channel so I’m not gonna arbitrate, but I am curious. I don’t think anyone minds (it’s not exactly hard for a viewer to skip the section; especially for people who use YT chapters).
Oh okay, that makes sense. That one's easy to explain. First of all, it doesn't pay anywhere near enough to supplant crowdfunding but also actively hurts it. Also, we hated working with marketing departments, incredibly soul-crushing, although that wouldn't be reason enough on its own.
I so often read people asking why most board gaming coverage nowadays is solely about Kickstarter previews and fuelling the hype train. Well, that's where the ad money and eyeballs are. If you want to see smarter writing, deeper coverage, combined with witty humour, support those that do them! Can't think of a better place to do so then NPI.
Being THAT GUY, I went and put you on my $2 for each contributor list, so I don't think I am discording, but I am supporting you. Sorry, but I set a budget of $20 per month, and I'd rather help ten of you a little than four of you and get those sweet, sweet $5 perks.
I had all these different images in my head of how the room looks like and connects to other spaces. Seeing that cute bit in the middle where it turns out there's a garden outside the window was mindblowing 😮 Very happy to have supported NPI on Patreon, keep taking care of yourselves ❤
Tiniest of corrections: I believe playing the games is not done by *just* you two :D Keep up the good work. I've always enjoyed your work. Can't believe it's been this long, eh?
Happy NPInth Birthday, Elaine and Efka! I'd happily send you beads! I have many, many beads in my stash, which is huge, yet thanks to their tiny size, still just takes up one extra large plastic tub. Sadly, none of them are rare historic beads. Elaine, do you know that clay and metal beads were often used as the whorls for spindles to spin yarn? I've made my own bead spindle this way, years ago, with an old double pointed knitting needle 🙂 And have you read Women's Work: The First 20, 000 Years by Elizabeth Wayland Barber? It's an incredible, fascinating examination of how textiles created by women, but mostly overlooked, are the foundation to society as it exists today.
What I love most about your reviews is how thought provoking they are. You bring up things I hadn't thought of before, and I've often come away from your videos with food for thought. Joined your patreon cause if that's not deserving of giving money I don't know waht is ♥
For someone who is new to you're channel. I would have no issue if you had a sponsor / ran adverts. It's part and parcel of this platform and how creators can fund bigger and better projects. I feel you may be holding yourself and the channel back by relying on Patron as you're the only source of revenue for the channel. Granted, there was a time when sponsors, etc, made you look like a sale out. But that was a long time ago. 3k income per month could go to 5k overnight if you ran a cheeky Nord VPN add, for example, and the exstra income could allow you to get that studio and hire a part-time editor. Freeing you up to make more content and grow your community. Just my two cents on the situation 🙃. Great content and videos. Lots of energy and fun. ❤❤
Why use patron? It does f all except take a %. Doesn’t YT contribution platform do the same but without the skimming off the top. I’d do some research and get a contributor link that doesn’t do the fee thing.
Hey Steve, the TH-cam contributions platform takes a massive 30% cut without offering any kind of tools that are actually useful, such as setting up a patron exclusive rss feed or patron exclusive discord servers. So, we've done our research.
Is there a way to do a one off payment rather than a subscription? I don't need the patreon benefits but do want to support you two and your excellent work.

I thought the same thing
I thought the same Kris and David.
@@jonasmiekkamies Or worse yet, "We're tired of board games, So we're turning our channel into a GARDENING channel!"
Gotta agree with that, even if no pun was included.
Or smart-arsery.
+1!
Elaine needs her beads! How can you say no to such an important cause?
Is there a field on the donation page where I can specify how much of my money should go toward beads acquisition?
@@Saucialiste just assume it's 100%
Can't we just cut out the middleman and pay in beads? I've got to imagine the foreign bead conversion fees are terrible.

I love supporting the collection of rare historic beads... but also would love to see more parts in the Arkham Horror LCG video series.

Looking forward hearing from Paul Dean!
They had me at Paul Dean.
The beads gag 😂... That sounds way wrong out of context now that I wrote it 😅

It is so so unreasonable how dissatisfied I am that I didn't get to see that last bead drop
But what about bead 20?? Cliffhanger for the next video?

I haven't seen hardly any historic beads in the reviews. You need to make a cloak. A cloak of old beads.
