Hi dear . We are producers and exporters of saffron worldwide(from Iran ). Now, that's not my point, but I wanted to say that the correct use of genuine, high-quality saffron is such that even if you place it on ice cubes, it will still release its color and aroma, and there is no need for hot water. Secondly, you should grind the saffron in a special grinder to achieve better results.

Persians do it this way. I take 3 cubes and add saffron. Let it sit for a few hours. Gets really good color
@@chuckheinch just for cooking? or is it also better to use the ice method if you want to drink it as a tea? like infuse it with the tea and then just put the melted ice with saffron into a cup with hot water?
@chuckheinch I heard this too in another video. Heard it preserves aromas and flavor.
Technically, you can infuse it that way, but you’re supposed to grind it with a mortar and pestle and then put it on ice cubes letting it melt
Yesterday I fried lamb in the pot with chunks of garlic. Then i literally added rice, coconut milk, water saffron and cooked the rice.
Wow!!! I felt like Turkish but I love my coconuts. And this was the easiest thing to do with my patience. It’s sooo damn tasty. Your partner will be amazed too.

I thought you lightly cook it, ground it and then put it in ice water?
We've never tried the ice water technique, but we always recommend to infuse it whole in hot water. No matter the technique, you want the flavor of this expensive spice to spread evenly and to be present in every bite. So always avoid just throwing the saffron threads in the recipe, mostly when there's not much liquids in the dish.
