Hi Sean, thank you for reviewing our Colt 45 - we appreciate your support!
We use the Colt 45 in a lot of our own photography as well and glad you found out why it's such a beloved reflector!

Adorama has the Glow 45 degree reflector with bowens mount for $60 as well. Might be an option if someone is looking for budget.

Hey there. Just curious if you've had a chance to compare the Westcott to the Colt 45. I don't own either one so am looking to make a purchase. In checking printed specs the Colt 45 is exactly the same diameter and length as the Westcott. Both indicate they have a beam spread of 45 degrees which is slightly wider than the old Dynalite which had a 40 degree beam spread. I'm sure the inside treatments are probably slightly different for all three and actual output will vary based on the flash unite and bulb position within the reflector. Any updates or new information since you originally posted this video?

Hi @mikestewart4733, thank you for asking. I appreciate it. Change your question, no I don't have an update since this video came out. My thought is that the small differences between the two are not likely going to make a lot of difference in the results. I hope that helps a little bit even if I'm not giving you a definitive answer.

Thanks for this video but what exactly is the difference between this Colt reflector and the Westcott 45 degree reflector? I just purchased the Westcott because it also comes with two grids and a sock diffuser. Thanks in advance for any help/information on this. :)

Hi Mario, at the moment there is not a lot of difference between the two. You will probably not notice using one over the other. I believe the Colt is a 12° light spread/focus (i know it says 45) and so is the Westcott. When I made this video, I researched every manufacturer and do not find the Westcott. I think they released it after I posted this video.

Thanks for the tip! What makes the Colt more suited to your work than the Westcott?

Thanks. Not sure I see an advantage over my Westcott 45 reflector, which comes with 2 grids and a diffusion sock for $99.

Hi @geiranders70, thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it. To answer your question, I don't own the Wescott, so I don't have any experience with it. Someday maybe I'll test that one too. I'm suggesting there's another option other than Westcott that matches the old Dynalite reflector.
Having said that, I have tried other deep dish reflectors that are more drawn out and claim to extend your reach. For my work, I've never found them useful. I waste too much time in between sets working the lights and inevitably end up with an image that requires more editing. I want a predictable spread of light, predictable power, and gradual falloff at the edges. The other deep dish reflectors I've used are too focused, too hot or cold, and have very little falloff.
Just not my style. 11" seems to be a perfect fit for me. I can adjust on the fly and get predictable results.
I don't know if this helps, but those are my thoughts. Have a great holiday weekend.
