    I cried most of the way through the video because I was thinking about my mom who passed away in November 2016 from Alzheimers it is a horrible thing to watch a loved one struggle with this I can tell you. Bless this woman for wanting to stay home where she knew things for that is so important to them to be around familiar surroundings. SOOO SAD Thank you Leslie for the video I enjoyed it

    My mum has Alzheimer's and it is a horrible disease taking our mum away it is so sad to watch them deteriorate and to not know who you are anymore. We haven't seen her for 3 months and we miss her so much .. You look so different with your beard Lesley it makes you look a bit older bless you .. It makes me so angry that people go in and trash the places you explore .. you guys are respectful and so are the others i watch here on TH-cam .. if they are not i simply wont watch them .. thank you for keeping respectful you two lovely brothers .. it is so sad to see these beautiful houses are decaying and unloved .. can i ask you How many languages do you actually know Lesley and Jordy?? You don't have to close the windows if you don't have to .. its just shows that you are a man of your word and so honest and respectful as you will not close the windows .. i know why they ask you to do it but you want to leave the places how you left it .. you are truly lovely hearted and when you said what is wrong with people why don't they want their parents things for memories .. it is horrible how quick they forget them if there isnt anything of value for them they don't care sweetheart at least you would be and you have been brought up really well and so you respect your parents . One reason the clothes are left behind is a person’s refusal to buy the clothes of a dead person. Even if it’s brand new and in a sealed package, they turn it down. It belonged to a dead person. I did estate sales for many years, and I found it amazing that people would refuse to buy the clothes of a dead person. I could understand if the person died in that outfit; of course you wouldn’t buy that outfit. But all other clothing? Wash it and wear it!

    • @BrosOfDecay
      @BrosOfDecay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    • @JamieM470

      Donate the clothing that's left to charity. Folks will snatch it up and won't think twice about where it came from.....and it won't end up in a land fill or rotting away in an abandoned house.

      I loved this video, as usual from such historical fantastic explorers such as yourselves. I must admit though, it made me feel very sad watching it. I'm a retired nurse so I've seen allot of situations as this. I found it disheartening that family or friends could not have gathered clothing or whatever was salvageable to donated it. Most people do not donate clothing and furniture by stating it's from a deceased person's home. So I can't imagine an issue with cleaning her home and donating. Anything you buy used now a day's, antique furniture, decor, clothing. Most likely has come from situations as this. My husband's widow was 43yrs old when she passed. The house was full of her style of furniture, her closet hung with beautiful clothing, shoes, purses, decor and a beautiful oak wood hope chest. We donated it all because it was still in great condition. Nothing went to waste nor should it. When he dropped it off he never stated "this truck load was from my dead wife's closet", why? because it didn't matter and the stores do not care. If donations are come in looking like rags, damaged, then it's an issue. Well kept item's are gladly taken. I would never garbage anything knowing someone could use it, that's just my way of thinking knowing other's will use these beautiful pieces and enjoy them. I have antique furniture, antique jewelry, as well stunningly beautiful early 19th century lace blouses I wear with my Jean's. The chances of those stunning unique pieces coming from someone who has not passed away are very slim. That's what makes it so special, the lives of these pieces can live on throughout one generation to the next. They are not forgotten and discarded. Just simply moved on to another new life. ♥️
      I hope when it's my time to pass on, my son's let nothing go to waste. Pass on what you want to your families. Whatever they don't want, donate it all. It will find another home for sure. Mind you, I would be insulted if my son's ripped the clothing off of my deceased back. Highly unlikely. They can have the rest though. Cheers from Canada.

    I'm so glad you leave things as you found them--including windows. I watched a video once of a different explorer who found one open window in an abandoned house and closed it....it bothers me to this day lol. What if an animal came in through that window and was hiding while he was in the house? It would be trapped and likely starve to death. I think that's what happened in many of the explores where they see dead animals in the house. Take nothing, move nothing, leave nothing but footprints. You're doing it right!

    This quaint home that belonged to such a well traveled lady and to have to sicome to a horrible disease that robs you of the very life you use to live and do. It must of been very hard for her to move around a home she no longer recognizes. The upstair bedroom doors were beautiful and the cottage like home that it was and filled with the books she helped children gain with knowledge that she later on lost seems unbelievably sad. Atleast she made her mark thru the children she enriched with knowledge.
    Thank you so much for this video, although sad, the people she was around made sure they kept her independent as long as she could with the notes around the home to make her home more familiar and not a prison. Thank you again

    Aan de, "Broeders van Verval", "Bros Of Decay": Although I am an old Dutchman, "Een oude Nederlander", I must confess, The Belgian people, "Het Belgische volk" are truly the kindest and most loving folks in God's World, as you can notice quite clearly while viewing this film. We Dutchmen are not as blessed with such loving hearts as are they. Those words live within my heart's honor. Usually, when viewing these types of films, or "videos", the spirits who remain within the homes are fairly obvious, IF you are actively searching for them. The place they called "Home"; During a time when they utilized them, when their immortal souls were still in the confinement of their corporeal bodies. Those souls, or spirits may be evidenced by luminescent-orbs, as-well-as other otherworldly imaged oddities. But, I did not notice anything of that sort while viewing this film; that is, until the very ending. At, 17:54, there is where I noticed something. So, I slowed the film-speed down to 25% and enlarged the images to 500%. At the previously indicated time, you can see an orb, of which many folks, including myself believe are the energy forms of their spirits/souls. Which causes one to wonder if it is the former language educator, Mrs. Josepha? I suppose it's her, who else? Perhaps she is showing her appreciation to the young Belgian man because of the care and respect he had given to her home, along with the loving care with which he handled her belongings. But mostly, because of his kind words about her character and life.

    Thankyou for sharing your finds. I love how you are respectful of the property and family. It breaks my heart how things are left. My great grandmother had alzheimers/dementia and the accumulation of things she had acquired was just overwhelming and mindboggling. Why just let the whole house go though? Some of the places you go are or could be wonderful homes for new stories.

      Melody Taylor you are welcome. I know you need the support. I was on Facebook with people that were caring for Alzheimer’s/dementia patients. They gave so much support. One thing that helped my dad was giving him charlottes web CBD oil. He had been in the hospital and couldn’t walk. We brought him home and started the CBD oil as soon as he got in. We were blown away to say the least to see him get up and walk to the bathroom by himself within 15 minutes of taking it. Later within days of death he became unable to walk. The CBD oil calmed him, but he never walked again. I will be lifting you up in prayer. It’s so much harder than anyone can imagine to watch someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia. We were told it’s all the same. Both a form of dementia. God bless you. 💕

    Miss Josepha comes across as a much loved person in the community and someone was looking after her the best they could. What a horrible disease to have and die of. i truly enjoyed the tour of Ms. Josepha's home. A very large home. It appears she used it well as a school teacher. So much space is required to store books and supplies as they cannot be kept at a school building. It seems she had space for meetings, conferences, possible space for teaching etc. As we move through the house it appears appliances have been removed such as cooking range, refrigerator, bath tub/shower. Lots of bedrooms for possible guests and one used for a dressing room it seems. On the second upper level you inquired about the large cup, here in the USA we might have used a cup that size for soup or there can be other uses. What you thought might be a baby crib (same room as cup) was a laundry cart to place items to be washed. I loved the enclosed patio with possible sliding windows a delightful area to entertain. Although a very large home for someone to live in alone, I am hopeful that Ms. Josepha had some assistance! In her earlier years seems she would have had hired help to maintain the property and home, but one never knows. I truly got the impression based on what I saw teaching was truly her chosen profession. Thanks again for sharing this lovely home and appreciate how respectful you are when touring homes to share with us all. Blessings from Maryland, USA

    My dear father who did not smoke,drink,take drugs, and exercised ,read,played his accordion,not overweight...and this awful Alz. attacked him anyway. Seven awful years of watching my Dad slip away,desperately trying to keep his memories alive with pictures and talking about the past etc.Dying by inches I call it. Playing his accordion was one of the last things he could do and as he forgot the songs he knew I tried to help him.Because 55 years ago he started teaching me to play,later I took formal lessons and here we were full circle, the son teaching the songs to the man who taught him...often I could not hide the tears..in fact just thinking about it now has moistened my cheeks. To any one out there who has similarly suffered the anguish of a family members (or friend) struck by Alz you have my deepest and most sincere sympathy...I know your pain.
