Thanks! That’s kinda been the entire build. Research stuff I’m not familiar with and just go for it. Worse case I’ll redo it and it’ll come out better the second time.
Oh I knew prep would take the longest, it sucks but that’s part of the process. I definitely wouldn’t have had someone else paint it, even though it turned out ok, it’s good enough for me and my skill set.
Thank you sir! For some reason I really love this color and use it quite often. The camera is kind to the finish as there’s quite a bit of issues due to my lack of experience but the paint is pretty forgiving.
Looks great, what a great idea tractor paint, it didn’t seem like the over spray was bad at all. The metal work and prep work is paying off now, thanks.
YAY! You picked Tractor Grey! I helped paint a vehicle with Tractor Grey once. It was a tractor. Actually it was a special tractor as it was a rare Kelly-Lewis two-stroke tractor (Lanz bulldog copy). Looking good Gary, good durable/neutral paint color choice.
Good job Gary! :) you got a solid top coat on the interior! What I've found with oil based paint is use more reducer to thin it out, you said it yourself it looked thick and I've been there before haha
Thanks man! Yeah I should have added a tad more but it turned out good enough. By the time I paint again way down the road I’ll make the same mistake again 😂
that's a great idea to use tractor paint and it's very durable for many years to come. can't wait to see what color you took for the outside. well done.
Looks awesome Gary !! did my 67 with rustoleum cheap but it turned out ok and the good thing about it I can always match the paint😂😂.Thanks for your time and the video.
My vote was for Desert Sand color but that gray looks cool too! Btw when putting the engine together I suggest going with matching color on the fan shroud, cooling tins, crank pulley, alternator pulley and even valve covers. And scrap the chrome. 😉
Desert sand would look great but I really love this color for some reason and it’s easy to get. I’ll definitely color match the engine tins when the time comes and trust me, I don’t have a lick of chrome on my engines.
@@VWJawbreaker I agree; that color looks great and matching it on the engine tins, etc would look fantastic, a little bit like the engines on the old German military vehicles.
Nice job! I really love the color, I'd paint the whole car that color if it was mine! I have an old silver truck that I would like to paint that color...
1 thing I learned doing some paint work back in the day the little things you think might not be that noticeable end up pretty noticeable in the end.... but for where you started and where it's at man it's looking good!
Yeah I know paint will magnify any issues you didn’t think would show up but it’s as good as I want it to be. I’m not looking for a perfect car by any means.
Thanks, I appreciate that! It turned out good enough for what I will use the car for. I’m sure I’d end up messing up a pretty show car and that’s just not me. You’ll have to wait till next week, I can’t spoil the color!
Looks good guy.I was worried about the inside doors .hinges and glove box door .If it's mixed the same they should come out OK .Bet your shoulder acted up a little bit.
Thanks buddy! Not sure yet. I have a few goals set for this year but it’ll depend on what life throws my way. Hoping to have it done for Bug Jam and your event in December.
Thanks man! It’ll come together more on next weeks video when I shut the exterior. At the time of this video I hadn’t decided yet but now I’ll install some here and there…. Have a couple of unique ideas for the interior when the time comes.
We’re you spraying acetone on the inside of the car and wiping it down? If so, won’t the acetone eat away at the plastic of the bottle and contaminate it?
It actually look like it came out pretty good. Once you get the interior in and other stuff all the other boo-boos and things will disappear quit being so hard on yourself.
Shiny looks good! 200 ft us better than my two city blocks job. hehehe
Tractors spend a lot of time out in the sun. They hold up pretty good.😃
Thank you sir! It’s definitely come a long way. I doubt your cars are two city blocks but even so, you use your cars!
Looks great!
Thanks buddy.
Paint looks great, love the color
Thank you sir. I’ve been obsessed with this color for way too long.
i appreciate you just going for it. that's the spirit
Thanks! That’s kinda been the entire build. Research stuff I’m not familiar with and just go for it. Worse case I’ll redo it and it’ll come out better the second time.
That is actually a good job, Gary. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, I appreciate that! It’s much better than it was but no where near perfect and I’m good with that.
Realy glad you're painting it yourself, the more you do the better you get. Doesn't take long to figure out that preparation is 90% of the job.👍😊
Oh I knew prep would take the longest, it sucks but that’s part of the process. I definitely wouldn’t have had someone else paint it, even though it turned out ok, it’s good enough for me and my skill set.
Finally managed to get time to watch Gary, love a grey Fergie, awesome colour choice, and you saying your not a painter, you paint extremely well
Thank you sir! For some reason I really love this color and use it quite often. The camera is kind to the finish as there’s quite a bit of issues due to my lack of experience but the paint is pretty forgiving.
Sir, I would totally let you paint my car. You are doing an amazing job.
Man I appreciate that greatly but you haven’t seen the paint up close 😂
Really love how this is turning out. Compared to what I see in the Northeast, there’s nothing like it ✌🏻absolutely killin’ it dude!
Thanks man! It’s definitely coming along nicely for what it is.
Looks great, what a great idea tractor paint, it didn’t seem like the over spray was bad at all. The metal work and prep work is paying off now, thanks.
Thank you sir, it’s definitely come a long way!
Very nice! The car keeps looking better and more interesting each episode. And another "what color" teaser. Now I have to watch the next vid:)
Thank you sir! It’s definitely come a long way and I’m so excited to be doing something besides metal work on the body 😂
Looks great, all your hard work and patience is paying off.
Thanks man! It’s finally coming together
Yes sir! Although I’m pretty sure you knew this all along 😂
It’s very durable and will work great for my needs. Plus I absolutely love this color.
Nice! As an electrician, I can appreciate the electrical panel gray
It does have a similar color to the panels but it’s darker.
Love the gray color, reminds me of my 63’ which is Anthracite 😎
Thank you sir. I’d love to line up the 2 colors to see how close they are.
Turned out awesome Gary, catch you on the next one 😀😀
Thank you buddy, I appreciate you!
You sir are very much a expert ...great job
Well I do appreciate that but you haven’t seen it up close!
Man this project has been so awesome 2 watch! It's turning out amazeballs!!!
Thanks dude! It’s definitely come a long way and can’t wait to see it all come together.

can't wait to see what color you took for the outside.
well done.
Thank you sir! It’s definitely a tough paint and very easy to touch up if need be.
Good job, Gary! I’m liking that color, for the interior. Can’t wait to see your choice for the exterior.
Thank you sir. I honestly love this color probably more than I should 😂
Hope all is well, would love an update sometime soon.
A job done to be proud of. Nice work 👍
Thanks buddy, I appreciate it.
Looks awesome Gary !! did my 67 with rustoleum cheap but it turned out ok and the good thing about it I can always match the paint😂😂.Thanks for your time and the video.
Thank you sir!! That is the nice thing about this, we can touch it up and no one would know!
Nice color for the interior. Well done.
Thanks man, I appreciate it. I absolutely love this color way too much 😂
Love the color! Almost looks like anthracite!
Thanks man! That’s what I’ve been told anyway…. I’d love to line up the two colors to see how close it really is.
Nice job! Such a great feeling of accomplishment, I’m sure. Hope you’re well! Steve
Thank you sir. It’s been a very long road but it feels great to finally be at this point. You’ll get there also, just takes time. Enjoy the process.
yeh Garry, looking the goods!!
Thank you sir!
Nice job ! ! ! Love your attitude . . . . . .
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Looks like a great job to me pro painters spend thousands on equipment and for a harbor freight spray gun, it looks really good.
You bet! As little as I paint, I could t justify spending much on a gun and other equipment. This got the job done and it’s good enough for my needs.
My vote was for Desert Sand color but that gray looks cool too! Btw when putting the engine together I suggest going with matching color on the fan shroud, cooling tins, crank pulley, alternator pulley and even valve covers. And scrap the chrome. 😉

@@vayabroder729 ohhhh…. I didn’t think of that. Good call!!
i dig it! can't wait to paint mine!
Thanks! You’ll be there in no time. Keep plugging away, you got this!
looking great! 👍👍
Thanks!!
Looks so great 🤘
Thanks man!
Nice job! I really love the color, I'd paint the whole car that color if it was mine! I have an old silver truck that I would like to paint that color...
Thanks man! I do really love this color. Looks a tad darker inside the car vs out in the sun but still.
Is this color close to the Vw anthracite color?
1 thing I learned doing some paint work back in the day the little things you think might not be that noticeable end up pretty noticeable in the end.... but for where you started and where it's at man it's looking good!

Why did I smile back lol😂😂
Dunno but I appreciate the comment as it made me smile also!
Looks great Brother nice job and Nice idea for the Choice of paint! 😎
Thanks man, very forgiving paint.
Looking good sir!!!
Thank ya sir!
Niiiiiiiiice 👏👏👏
Thank you!
Looks great! Texture is good in those high traffic areas. Can't wait to see the Raptor paint. Blue?
Thanks, I appreciate that! It turned out good enough for what I will use the car for. I’m sure I’d end up messing up a pretty show car and that’s just not me.
You’ll have to wait till next week, I can’t spoil the color!
Awesome. Looks good
Thanks man! I’m on track for later this year.
Hi Gary, Not bad for the first time👍🏻, Looks good.🇺🇸.🇳🇴🇳🇱🙏🏻🍀greetings.Hubertus
Thank you Hubertus, I appreciate that. Hope all is well my friend.
@@VWJawbreaker You are very welcome Gary.
Before you know it, it’ll be jumping things😊 starting to look great
Thanks man, I appreciate it!
looks great and a good price
Thanks! It turned out decent for what I want.
Great paint, great primer. I used it on my Ghia suspension parts. Came out great and it is tuff stuff
Absolutely tough paint! Covers well and lasts.
Looks good guy.I was worried about the inside doors .hinges and glove box door .If it's mixed the same they should come out OK .Bet your shoulder acted up a little bit.
Thanks man! Luckily this paint is so easy to touch up and paint in batches that it all looks the same and you can’t tell at all. It’s very forgiving.
Sick man!
Thanks!
I think it looks great it’s your car and if you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters
Thanks man, I appreciate that and I agree with ya!
Looking good my friend! What VW event will be your first with this ride?
Thanks buddy!
Not sure yet. I have a few goals set for this year but it’ll depend on what life throws my way.
Hoping to have it done for Bug Jam and your event in December.
It came out great Gary👍🏽 Good contrast between light and dark colors. Are you installing sound deadening?
Thanks man! It’ll come together more on next weeks video when I shut the exterior.
At the time of this video I hadn’t decided yet but now I’ll install some here and there…. Have a couple of unique ideas for the interior when the time comes.
@@VWJawbreaker Looking forward to it👍🏽
Looks great. Painting stresses me out. I guess im just a nut and bolt kinda guy. Lol
Thanks! I’m definitely not a painter and it looks better on camera 😂
This will do just fine for what I want.
Looks awesome. Keep killin it. What size compressor do you use
Thanks buddy, I appreciate it!
It’s a home built one from years ago. Harbor freight compressor head, some brand 5hp 240v motor and a 60 gallon tank.
How much air pressure did you use?
I think it was around 15-20psi
We’re you spraying acetone on the inside of the car and wiping it down? If so, won’t the acetone eat away at the plastic of the bottle and contaminate it?
That’s wax and grease remover. It doesn’t hurt the plastic bottle if it’s not kept in there for an extended period of time.
Safe effect as acetone then? I mean cleansing and prepping your metal?
@@estebangarcia3365 yep. Cleans all grease and wax from the surface before painting.
It actually look like it came out pretty good. Once you get the interior in and other stuff all the other boo-boos and things will disappear quit being so hard on yourself.
Thanks man, I think it turned out good enough for my needs. That’s true, once the interior goes in, you’ll see less… didn’t think about that.
Butt crack @13:22 😅
Oops 😂
