Mama? Did you bring the shovel and pail for me to play in the sand? For the texture. Why yes son. I brought all of your sand for the texture toys. I knew you would want them.
Hi Petko, maybe you could try and put some anchor points in the enclosure with no anchor points? Might be interesting to see if she/he moves out of the burrow in favour of webbing up the enclosure. Just a thought. Keep up the great vids! 👍
Possibly the loudest I've ever heard from a spider!! Wow. You should submit this to an entomologist friend and let the community hear this. It's HIGHLY unusual to be that loud.
Personally I am not surprised at all. As you've mentioned, this genus has an very opportunistic lifestyle. Furthermore it seems, most of us keepers are in the wrong thinking that they prefer substrate to dig into. There are reports of several species (mostly from the dyscolus complex) from Penang and Thailand to live several meters high up in trees and making theirself a home in the 'forks' of branches. Other records of the species 'electric blue' from Thailand have shown that they live within the gaps of huge rocks and rock walls. Some even live upside down in 'caves' and build their webs into the slots between the stone. So how about some more interesting setups like these for more of your Chilobrachys? I'd definitely love to see them.
I think digging is the secondary instinct, the tarantula in the tank without anchor points tried several times to web, but gave up in the end and started digging... Very interesting 🤓
You have a knack for editing your videos and the transitions and little takes... you make them so funny. You're a type of person I could be real friends with. NGL. You're as real in your videos as you are in life. You don't put on an act, and honestly it's hard to find someone with your fun, responsible, incredibly entertaining/knowledgable and most important REAL videos. Never change, Petko!!
I generally do not leave comments, but I just couldn't hold back with this one! This was one of the BEST videos you've put out in a while, genuinely loved it from start to finish, keep it up!!
This reminds me of the time Tarantula Kat built her own trapdoor inside a Petco and went unnoticed for a month..Lived on escaped crickets and monkey chow. Impressive.
the next step, imo, should be giving three same Ts the same conditions: same size enclosures; same mix of anchoring points and substrate to burrow, same amount of time... and see what's really their taste for burrowing or anchoring, statistically
@@TheDarkDen I'm okay. Just a long day of tests and appointments with my Cardiac and Pulmonary (heart and lung) Specialists. Idiopathic Pulmonary Artery Hypertension. WHO group 1. Google it. It sucks. Current life span is maxed out at 8 years. No cure and very limited treatment options. I actually started watching your videos when I was admitted to the hospital with complications from PAH. One video of you feeding Linda gave me an irregular heart rhythm. She moves in a way I didn't expect and it scared me. The next thing I know my heart monitor is going off and 3 Nurses run into the room because my heart wasn't beating right. Lol. I tried explaining what happened but they didn't seem to believe me when I said I tarantula scared me. 🕸️🕷️🙄🤣 So it might be possible to scare someone to death.... Just sayin'.... 😅😉
@@Plants-and-Ts Thank you! Have you startled by any of the famous Linda feeding videos? I am still afraid of spiders and tarantulas but not as much as before binging all of Petkos videos.
For real Petko I hope you realise how much your passion for Tarantulas is helping a lot of people learn more about T. and their behaviours. Great job as always. The time laps was AMAZING !! Really immersive as I watched it three times to make sure to not miss anything activity in all of the enclosure. I would love to see a Live on twitch or YT of a new experiment like this one that you just did !
This was awesommee dude I love your videos and look forward to them after work every Monday sometimes I even come back later in the week and rewatch or share the videos with several people because I think they are just amazing, please keep up the great work petko I’ve been a fans for years and I look forward to more years to come.
I only have one of these, but it eschewed burrowing in favor of a massive web labyrinth at maturity. As a sling I kept it in a gallon container with about 7" of substrate. He burrowed all the way down and I rarely saw him until he was near 3" I never knew they could stridulate. That is pretty awesome.
What a fun, amazing experiment! I hope that you continue with this, as it’s really something, seeing three of the same species behaving differently. And I don’t believe it’s just about the environment. I think you would find, if you gave them all identical environments, they would still find ways to make it different; as it shows the personality & behavior is individual, not species specific. Each of us has our own personalities, as does every other living being. Love it! Much love to you, Shelbie =) ❤️🤍
Fascinating experiment. I love this idea. What a great idea to learn about these bolty little critters. I was mesmerized by their work. Thanks Petco! I loved this video!
Say what you want about handling spiders, but the real pros know how to. All the biologists that go out in the field they seem to know how to handle these things. Hey I’m not saying I’m brave enough to even hold a baby one yet, but it would make a dealing with the bolters a lot easier. Awesome time lapse dude. This was a great video! Good choice of music too
WHAT'S UP BUDDY! Hope all is well? also with the baby I hope you're enjoying fatherhood? It's an awesome feeling my friend...This was very very interesting Petko, it is pretty cool how they also webbed up their enclosure and they still find their way through it I always find that amazing without falling or without damaging the web no matter how far in the web they are they seem like they can get through it and remember their way back and forth that's pretty cool. I DEFINITELY WANT TO SEE MORE EXPERIMENTS LIKE THIS ONE THAT YOU ARE DOING I LOVE EDUCATIONAL STUFF WITH THE SPIDERS?;. THANK YOU AND PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS OR EVEN MORE FASCINATED
Have read for years how Ts don't have intelligence and only act based on instinct. I think this video shows they are more intelligent than that as they obviously consider options and make decisions more than just reacting. Loved it, definitely looking forward to see more like this and might try to do the same when I finally get to doing some vids of mine. Keep up the great work 👏
Because of this channel I found out that some tarantulas keep small humming frogs as pets, also thank you for making them look super cute without frogs 🕷
I always look forward to your Monday upload. I have a crazy work schedule so my days off are Mondays and Thursdays and I typically make sure to catch up on some TH-cam vids Monday night. Yours is always the first vid I want to watch. You and exotics lair are the ones that got me to start keeping T's in the first place, now I'm subbed to more keeper's channels than I can count😂. I especially love your channel tho and this was such a cool little experiment. The Chilobrachys Fimbriatus is such a beautiful species, I love the colors and the pattern on the abdomen is so cool looking with the stripes. Keep up the great content and have a wonderful week. I'm already looking forward to next Monday or Friday I should say, Yay!!! for bonus video, I'll definitely check it out after work. Lol
You are an amazing TH-camr, you are constantly checking to make sure that we can all see exactly what you are doing! Petko you make Mondays the best day of the week, you have taught me so much I will be getting my tarantula soon, not entirely sure if anyone knows the best tarantulas for first time beginners! ❤️ 🕸🕷
If you check other older videos you have a beginner guide that Petko recorded about 3 years ago, I believe that he mentiones some species for beginners.
Loved this episode! I'm always interested in research, and your idea of substrate vs. anchor points was insightful. Your babies did not disappoint. Maybe some time you could replicate to see if the same outcome is observed. So cool.
One of the best videos . I totally enjoyed watching the spiders make their nest . As well as the feeding . I often loose feeder bugs . It's funny when people help clean up and they find them . lol
@7:08 You can dig like CRAZY or Web like CRAZY you just can't RUN LIKE CRAZY!!!!!!! LMAO!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🕷🕸🕷💗💗 ... Out of all of my Ts I would have to say this is my favorite.... Mine has both substrate to dig/burrow along with many anchor points and has webbed extensively in her enclosure. She also has the BEST feeding response yet they are soooo FAST!!!! Great Video.....
What I enjoy most about your channel/videos is how friendly and thoughtful you are constantly.
Not to mention the excitement and energy he brings
he's like the early morning sunshine
It is a widely accepted fact that Petko never in his life ever said "sand" without also saying " for the texture".
Mama? Did you bring the shovel and pail for me to play in the sand? For the texture.
Why yes son. I brought all of your sand for the texture toys. I knew you would want them.
I'm waiting for that shirt!!

i love this kind of videos
I agree. If he did these types with three tarantulas of one species in this sort of style it would be so cool
Hi Petko, maybe you could try and put some anchor points in the enclosure with no anchor points? Might be interesting to see if she/he moves out of the burrow in favour of webbing up the enclosure. Just a thought.

Seriously! some loud hissing!

Its hilarious when after hours of sitting still tarantulas are like "yep its time to web" and then they go wild

Hi Petko, make other experiments, please, it's so interesting. It's amazing knowing more about the incredible behaviour of our tarantulas.
Everytime I open an enclosure, I’m expecting special tarantula behaviour 😂 I‘m very aware, that they plot to eat me.

So glad your experiment worked! Good to see you again too...hadn't been watching much lately...
What an interesting vid! Love seeing the time lapse and how the behavior of the same Ts changes based on setup. Was awesome!
Good morning from Australia, love your videos Petko.
I loved this video so much!!! Such big differences to the way they live from tarantula to tarantula 🤯
AWESOME video mate love watching Tarantulas and Spiders web up their enclosures
Keep these great videos coming! I get so excited when I get the notification that you posted something new! More Friday videos please

Wow, they are so pretty! And it’s honestly pretty crazy to see which each did-always a joy seeing your videos they always make my day better :)
