  • Here are my 20 Unlikely Items you might consider bringing on your next bareboat charter. Unlike boat owners and live-aboards, as a charterer you may be looking around for items that the charter company does not provide. After learning this the hard way (and we're still learning) checkout the 20 items in this video and on my blog at www.boatluv.com for the downloadable PDF and shopping cart link!
If you have any items to suggest please share them below in the comments!

It says more about me but I always take a small hand coffee grinder. Also a pair of two way radios which are useful when laying shore lines.

I bring Walkie talkies too! And a huge amount of my own freshly grounded coffee from home as it is always so expensive in the Caribbean.

Thanks!! You have a couple items I hadn’t thought about!
I take a knife wrap with a sharp vegetable peeler, Chef’s knife, paring knife, & silicone spatula. Small dishwashing sponge & drying towel. Also good clothespins.

I have always found their kitchen knives to be good! And they always provide a sponge, but I like your suggestions, thanks for watching!

LOVE the list! FYI Costco has 5 gallon pleated bottom Zip Lock bags for large items.

Don’t forget Dramamine, air fresheners for the bathrooms, medicines i.e. cough, itch cream, allergy med.

So, for me, Bonine is my goto over Dramamine. Bonine does not have the soporific quality of Dram, so it qwells the sea sickness, without the drowsiness. I take one, once a day, 3 days before heading out on the high seas. I faired much better on a passage from Norfolk to Bermuda than my ship mates who had Scopolamine Patches!

Great list! We also bring medium size dry bags with about 4 or 5' of cord. Orange! If they hold air properly, as they should, they're easy to inflate. We use these snorkeling for visibility as even as a float. Feel so much safer towing one behind me, and in 8 years I've never had one fail. Of course you also can tow ashore sunglasses, sandals, sunscreen, etc. in them.

Thanks! This set-up actually saved a friend and me from what could've been a much more serious, or at least more memorable, experience. My friend is a Class IV whitewater river canoeist, but fairly new to snorkeling and the "open ocean". In some current off Pelican Island in the BVI she panicked a bit and grabbed onto me. I felt us both going under! But I had her take the handle of the dry bag I'd been towing and the little bag was enough to float us both. Whew!@@TheDesertSailor

You ever thought about bringing any bed linen with you? Even just a square sheet or do all the boats have decent quality stuff onboard?

The sheets and pillows have all been pretty decent. They do get pretty damp and smelly pretty fast though!
