I have the habit of telling my children, "I love you, but Jesus loves you more." I never knew such a song existed. Beautiful! Thank you to all the wonderful singers in this video. I rejoice in getting to meet each of you in eternity. Maybe you will teach me to sing in such a way.🥲

I think of Mrs. B and get so sad and emotional but also happy thoughts come to mind. Such an incredible woman, mother, sister, wife and friend. I am %1000 sure that I am speaking on behalf of every member of The National Children's Choir (new and old) when I say you were a mother and a wonderful mentor to
us all. If only we had more time, time to laugh, time to experience more things and places life has to offer. But God's knows best, You will truly be missed.♡♡

@tinstarr55 This song was collected in the 1950s in The Bahamas by folklorists. Every recording made after that (The Grateful Dead's, Aaron Neville's, etc) was based on the Bahamian original. Joseph Spence and the Pinder family were the singers as indicated by @242shelly242.

I've always liked Bill Staines' version of this, and I also like Waterson:Carthy's rendition of "Goodnight My Beloved", the hymn from which "I Bid You Goodnight" evolved, even though they're totally different from each other. This one from "Music of the Bahamas" is totally different from either - I love it!

Philip! I have sung this song, fantasizing into it your harmonies, at least 10 times a year, for over 33 years. This evening, thinking of you, I went looking for it. You can't imagine the extent of my joy. Wonderful memories of you. Sorry we lost touch, dear friend. Bruce Harpster

This is my favorite song in this genre! I appreciate so much when voices comprise a melody as opposed to music - the music only adds but the Voices are what stands out most. Too happy to have found this youtube channel - thank you for being in existence!

I have heard a few different versions of this hymn, but none but this one move me to tears. It brings back fond memories of when my youngest daughter was a baby and I used it to sing her to sleep (she called it the "bidyer" song.)

@@tyronotto805Naw. Aaron introduced me to it but I'm seeing in these very Comments that the Pinder or Pindar family originally recorded it. In the 50's?
Aaron has it on his "Warm Your Heart" album from the mid-1990's. I bought it as soon as it hit the stores. Still listen to it.
