I bought the essential tools for my crocheting because I love crocheting and I was always just using the 4.75 size hook. I ordered online a zippered bag that came with several different sizes hooks, some metal ones and some with plastic ends making it easier to grip, measuring tape, yarn needles, a counter, etc and the price was pretty reasonable. The only I didn’t have was the yarn bag and one of my coworkers gave me the bag that had 4 yarn feeder slots. I love it and use the bag. Although I have been crocheting for some years I still often scroll on TH-cam for projects for beginners. I often put a twist to some of the projects. I make baskets with roses and added a twist to the roses. Thank you for sharing this video.
How Cool that you got a whole starter kit! That takes away so much of the guess work. How sweet of your coworker for giving you a bag. Thanks for the heads up that this exists. I love that you have found your happy place with crochet. It doesn't matter how long you've been crocheting for. If you enjoy beginner friendly projects then stay there. You don't necessarily have to level up. Though you might find you naturally start to pick up on things. Love the idea of baskets with roses. Sounds really pretty. 🤗🧶💖
Oh thank you Tiffany. I’ve been crocheting for a while and I stop and go. And I have done a lot of projects that you’ve done that I’m copying, but if it wasn’t for you to never learn how to read it and understand it so But every time someone asks me to teach them what they need to do to crochet. I always send them to your video. Thank you for all the great information and how you presented and detail. It is just great and thank you again.
@@pjscelfo916 I use stitch markers for earthing. Keeping track of stitch count, especially when working on big blankets or if I’m doing a repeat pattern. I got a big jar of them on Amazon.
Hook holders from hl or toothbrush tubes for travel. Cloth grocery bags are great for projects. The bigger plastic bags for larger projects. Diaper bags are handy as well. Finger nail clippers work well in a pinch.
I love Clover Amour hooks, clover stitch markers, measuring tape, and row counters. They are quality materials without robbing the bank. Bonus when you catch them on sale or get a great coupon.
You’re so right! Those are some great tools that work well and don’t break the bank! I too love to take full advantage of sales and coupons! So smart! 💖💖💖
I agree. I started crocheting over 50 years ago with aluminum hooks from Boye, and later aluminum and plastic ones from Susan Bates. I also tried several types of wood hooks. I always found myself fighting with the hook sometimes. Then two years ago I tried a Clover Amour, and fell in love. They’re more comfortable, the hook goes through the work more smoothly, and it’s more clear how much tension I need. I’m can work faster and more relaxed. I bought all the Clover sizes and donated my old hooks!
Page protectors to put your pattern in. You can then mark rows with erasable markers and not mess up your pattern. (Although some notes about the pattern are good to put right on the pattern)
My sister-in-law loves to shop at an upscale mall and accumulates elegant paper tote bags in assorted sizes, which she passes on to me. They make great project bags, as they are sturdy, stand up straight, have a large opening and functional handles, and look nice. Plus they’re free - if you can find someone who likes to shop in person.
@@CrochetWithTiffany I use a small zippered notions bag and just put it in the different tote bags I am using and I just have to make sure I have the correct hook size and hook that I am using for the project. Unless the pocket closed I would be too concerned trying to use that and have a hook slip out and go missing.
I have been picking up Dollar Tree basket for projects lately. They have had some nice sizes and shapes for different size projects. Just picked up a $3 tote style basket for my full fize blanket and a smaller/medium size deep basket for amaller projects. These are also great if you want to feed the yarn/yarns through the holes in the baskets. I just need to stock up on scissors, mine are always out of reach.
Be careful about threading your yarn through the holes in a basket, as you’ll have to cut the yarn to get it out. Not a problem for tiny projects or just practicing, but if you’re working on a large project you’ll likely to want to take it out of the basket sometimes.
@@DonnaMcMasterRiver I don't take the yarn out of the basket until the project is done, so that's fine. If I thread the yarn through the basket, it's a project with multiple working yarns at once so not something I want to get tangled by moving the yarn around. The project itself is free to move however I need it to move, so all is good.
For stitch markers, make sure you use any that open and close - knitting stitch markers are closed circles and you'll end up with them in your crocheted fabric if you try to use them. ☺
Haha! That is so true Sarah! There is a big difference between crocheter friendly stitch markers and knitter friendly stitch markers. I appreciate you pointing that out! 🤗🧶💖
I just discovered this recently and couldn’t agree more. Years of tally marking and often half way through a row trying to remember if I’d marked the last row off and loosing the pen etc. 😂

Hi Pamela! OH! The name of the brand is LYKKE. I may be pronouncing it a little off but I've heard it called that before and just going off that. They are wood but they have a weight at the end which makes all the difference in the world. I'm not a fan of plain wood hooks as I find them too lite. I prefer a little weight to my hooks which is why my go to hook was aluminum for the longest time. But the little weight at the end of the LYKKE hooks give that to me. Plus, they glide beautifully and the vibe they give off is very natural and beautiful which I gravitate towards. The driftwood is my favorite. But the Indigo blue intrigues me and is just fun. This video is just the first where I show the most of it. If you look into my history you will see my channel has been around for 5 years. My focus is on helping absolute beginners this year.
