@@MrUncYeah the news that came out about updates. HOPEFULLY the game gets repeated improvements and not just patches that add game breaking bugs with no dev communication.
The reason why it doesn't kill sometimes is because the damage radius of the 500kg bomb is an upwards cone. It's why it doesn't splash very well on the ground, and it won't do much if it lands on a Bile Titan. It is however the only fire support stratagem that can instantly kill a Bile Titan, it just has to land underneath them.
rail cannon strike can do instakill a titan and the 500kg bomb does not have an "upwards cone" damage zone. the 500kg bomb just has a small splash damage radius, though if any part of the titan is within the radius where is takes a lethal amount of damage it will one shot it, even if it's just a leg, so it does not have to land underneath them, just close enough. the rail cannon will also oneshot the titans, but similarly it depends on where they are hit by it. at most, it will take 2 shots to kill, though it's still far more reliable for dealing with the titans, which is why it's much more popular in 7+ difficulties.
considering how flexible it is I wouldnt consider it weak even the orbital rail cannon does not always oneshot partytitans but both of these leave them in a state very vulnerable
For reference, 500kg seems like a lot. But the Tsar bomb is 26.7k kg. A patriot missile weights 900kg.The AGM-12 Bullpup used in Vietnam weights 810kg (warhead max weight is 440kg assuming the 500kg refers to just the warhead). The AGM-12 was discontinued partly due to a lack of firepower. And that was against human targets. 500kg is entirely insufficient for the threats being faced and I assume it's that small due to the fact that you are transporting mass across the galaxy which means every kg is precious and you can't store that much on a destroyer. I assume explosives tech hasn't improved that much from today too.
when someone says "X lbs bomb" the "X" refers to the overall weight of the bomb, not just the warhead. 500kg isn't huge for a bomb, but the in-game explosion size is actually really small for a bomb that size. a real life 500kg bomb should have a blast radius of about 80 meters, depending on the terrain it was dropped on and the bomb's design. it's also important to note that the *lethal* radius of the bomb is going to be farther than the blast radius, so you could expect things quite a bit farther than 80 meters from where the bomb landed to be killed, at the very least the helldivers themselves. This really doesn't seem so in-game.
@@helterskelter416 Thanks I wasn't sure of that. Agreed. Unless the bombs are made to dig a bit to kill subterranean bugs? Or the ultra-advanced armor we are wearing keeps us safe at closer distances. Plus maybe bombs are made to be more concentrated to increase the lethal radius for bugs but reduce the size of the radius of the explosion itself.
Don't have it unlocked yet. But tried it with the free to use yesterday. Dropped it square on a big bug hive and it did absolutely nothing. Very disappointed with that one.
Yeah, the hives are weird how you have to hit a small spot in the back of each hole with any direct hit, or get a grenade down the hole. The automations spawns blow up good from a direct hit from a 500 kg though.
I know that there is a resupply for eagles. I was only pointing out that the 500kg is a bit more worthwhile to slot in with the upgraded usage, despite it's mediocre output.
For me it does feel like a wasted slot. That and Orbital Laser, which seems to be...idk, have slower DPS? It's cool that it tracks, but I'd rather have Rail Cannon. Rail Cannon also has unlimited uses so I can be a bit more liberal
They should addd the British 25,000 pound bomb from war thunder. That’ll do it!
how to explode yourself 101:
God all the airstrikes made me have brown and sticky pants when i first saw them
I'm not the only one that put Darktide back on the shelf for awhile and went this this game XD
There is definitely more to come for Darktide. Just wanted to make some content for this game as well.

Considering the alternatives I'm satisfied
The orbital laser is the other alternative, which is delightful to use
Still fun tho, specially when I have two of em
Definitely, 2 big boom is always better than 1.

The damage radius is pretty small for a half ton of high explosives.
Yeah the 500k seems so wonderfully random, particularly if you don't have shrapnel unlocked. Their falloff is fucking ridiculous.
Bomberman Hero mentioned
When you get the Expanded Weapons Bay Upgrade it can solve this problem really easy
Send the second 500kg bomb.
I really enjoy Orbital Laser since unlocking it, I use it as an "oh shit, oh fuck" button. Looking forward to big booms soon.
It really sucks that you only get 3 total uses for it though.

@@ObsceneSuperMatt I'm sure I'll unlock it eventually and play with it more. Hope it gets a buff anyway.
to be fair, it's only a 500kg bomb, that's not huge for a bomb.
I have left a comment.
I have right a comment
they gotta release the 1 ton bomb or else
You can restock them after they deplete

I really do need to branch out and use the Rail Cannon more.
laser is reaaally good for taking out bot bases
Skill issue
Hey like the video like the video. Helldiver
