Working on a Dairy Farm in Ireland

I got the opportunity to visit a dairy farm in Ireland, which is just not something I could pass up. I told the family to have some jobs ready for me to help out with, which they took me up on. Gotta earn your keep, right? The first job I helped out with was rebuilding a concrete block wall that young David accidentally backed into with a tractor. This wall is right in front of Granny's house, so it was important to do a good job and get it fixed up right. I also spent a couple mornings milking the cows, which was a real learning experience for me. Lastly, it was all hands on deck as the whole family and others "shifted" some steers down the middle of the country road from one pasture to another. This was a trip I'll never forget and I loved getting to meet and spend time with this amazing family.

Stumbled upon your channel with your toolbox build. Having grown up on a farm myself, I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed your videos!!! My wife and kids always make fun of how my stories always have a farm tie in!!!😂. When you mentioned on a video listening to podcasts while on tractor would of been AMAZING!!!!

Keep up the amazing work! You have a hugely under-recognized channel. I know it's corny sometimes, but I would seriously consider doing some of the things other TH-camrs do with calls out for Likes and Subscriptions. I found you first from the Frank Howarth video almost a year ago because TH-cam prompted me with it. You need TH-cam to tell more people about your excellent videos :)

In the old days, there was a large stone that sat at the edge of entrances and walls. It works surprisingly well against cars just as well as it used to do against horse driven carriages. :)

Nice. Really happy you got to experience Ireland. My wife and I have been very fortunate to travel to Ireland for the past 6 years. Going back again this September. We have fallen in love with our ancestral home. Not tours for us. We stay in B&B's meeting families and learning so much more. Have learned to drive on the other side of the road and had some funny experiences with that. This past year we spent on the west coast (the wild Atlantic Way) from Shannon to Donegal and didn't want to leave. This year were back to Dingle for some beautiful scenery and great food, and our favorite B&B in all of Ireland. Do yourself a favor and return as often as you can. We look at these trips as recharging a peaceful part of us. Thanks for sharing. I wanted to get on the plane today.

In a herring bone shed, you need eyes in the back of your head and quick reflexes. After a while it becomes second nature to dodge when the tail starts to lift.

Loved every bit of the video. Towards the end I was wondering which drone you were using that recorded it so perfectly.
I was nervous with the grinding and stone hammering without eye protection. Otherwise cool way to travel!
You should have a TV show, traveling the world learning about different styles of farming all over the globe. Better yet, some cool company should sponsor you to do it for a new youtube series!
Hmmm it seems everytime you mentioned the other meaning of.. shifting? I think it was shifting... You seemed to show the girls, what exactly else did you get upto in Ireland :p? Just messing with you lol. I loved the video so much and the music, the ending drone shot was GORGEOUS! And the cow run was super interesting I never thought about how hard it would be to move the cows around like that but I love that it's a big family affair, and Momma irish seems so nice! (They all do!).
