Nice project. I'm working on a '47 Dodge also. If you want that old heater to work, you'll need to change the blower motor. That old one is 6 volt positive ground. The Chevy van drive train is a great idea.
Yeah I found out the hard way the that's chevy had a unibody.. So I'm using the running gear, but I'm making it mount to the original frame now... And yep, you're right... Any parts you need for yours?
I'd like to see a dual engined truck restored. They're out there. These were custom made in the war years, 2 engines, 2 transmissions, 1 drove each axle.
That's actually super interesting.. could you give me some more info..I would like to look into that. I have always thought about building one.. I know another utube guy called whistling diesel built a chevy version..alot newer was pretty cool though
@herpabetic They were made during WW2 for the war effort. There was a company, I believe, in Seattle that custom made 'em mainly for transporting aircraft fuselage. I always assumed everything was done in-house, apparently not. I've heard of convoys of fuselage & wings going thru towns with police escort. Ford supposedly made their own for their products. Cars & Parts magazine covered this in their reader's forum section due to a query from a reader that saw one in a salvage yard in the '50s. Now that salvage yards are quickly disappearing it would be doubtful of finding any but the documenting should be available.
My dream truck, looking for a cab myself 😈🤟
Sold come get...lol
