I have 4 knock-off Cesca chairs with broken seats. Thanks for the very informative and clear video!
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!
Great tutorial.

Great instruction! I like that you keep it to the point. It's very professional. I am going to repair my Cesca chairs using your method. Sincerely, your number 9 subscriber.
Thank you so much for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.
I don‘t even gave a chair to repair but watched it anyway. Very interesting and entertaining 😄
Ahahaha, than you are a very curious person, a great quality. I'm happy I was able to captivated you about fixing chairs you actually don't need to fix. Next step, will be to make you want to learn this trade :p
thank you for this super easy to follow video! i feel confident in re-caning a rocking chair i've been refinishing, now!!
Happy to hear
This tutorial was so sooo helpful. Seriously could not have repaired my Cesca chair without this step by step process. Thank you!!
I appreciate so much your positif feedback. You've given a new life to those chairs
Thank you so much for the video!!! One George Michael fan to another!!!
I hope that we now share two passions! Let me know if you have additional questions. Thank you
Great tutorial, lots of little pieces of advice which are often missed, or not spoken of, it think that helps build confidence to tackle the job. And George Michael... well I think his best album is "Listen without Prejudice" a real shame about his fight with Sony; lost years.
Thank you I really appreciate the compliment specially from another George Michael fan!
I'm looking to make a cane webbing radiator cover and this was very helpful, thanks a bunch. 😊
Your video did raise one question for me though: When I router my grooves, should I use a straight bit or a V-shaped bit? And if it's the latter, should the V taper downwards into the piece or taper upwards, like a dovetail joint?
HI, I'm happy it helped you. Yes use a straight bit that corresponds to the size of the spline. The V of the spline is put in like the shape of the letter, the smaller part is in the glued groove and the top the pline that is larger will help to tighten the rattan. I hope my explanations were helpful, do not hesitate to reach out if you have other questions. I do want to raise a concern: a radiator will dry the rattan and can catch fire if it's electric.
Great video , great explainations, great jokes ! Gonna try it 😉
Thank you, I tried my best.
Thank you! thanks to this video i decided i could DIY the repair of my round chair seating.
Happy to hear! Good Job
Good explanations; good humor! Thanks!
Next step... Rattan stand up comedy!

Congratulations ! I am from Brazil. I have six cesca chairs needing same fix.

Hi thanks for such a great video. Do you soak the rattan in hot or cold water?
Thank you. You can use cold to warm water by soaking it in a bathtub or in a long planter. Let me know if you have other questions
Great video. Thank you!
Thanks so much!!
very good tutorial! i am also planning to restore my cesca chairs. can you tell me what size spline pitriet i should use?
You need to measure your groove to choose your size of spline, see 7:00min.
What size was yours here? I have the same chair but am not confident I’m selecting the right size after measuring.
@@Thrillingg as I explain in the video even if it’s a similar model the width of the groove can be different. You have to measure, it can be 3/16 or 7/32 or 13/64. Let me know if you have other questions.
Bravo i thank you. ❤❤
Hi - what size replacement spline are you using? I can’t seem to find that anywhere.

Usually you can buy it in the same place that you can buy the Rattan. If you are in North America, you can contact me through my website linked in the description for purchase.

Haha you funny😂😂😂
Just trying to make caning as fun as possible.
Hi, what is the dimention of the cane in cm. Love from Norway.
Hi There, you have to measure from groove to groove and add about 5 cm to be able centre the pattern and be able to insert the cane into the groove. There are so many variation of Cesca chairs that they aren't all the same size.
I'm happy I was able to reach you all the way from Canada to Norway!
Is that a German accent I detect?
On the other side of the border, it's French Actually!
Could you visit England and cover a chair I’m making? It’s a Pierre Jeaneret replica.
That seat didn’t look broken lol
I’m sorry you feel that way but a hole is a hole ( that’s what she said ) but if you have questions I am available
