Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament (MP) RK Chaudhary's recent comments on the Sengol have ignited a political controversy. Chaudhary questioned the presence of Sengol in Parliament, calling it a symbol of monarchy.
"The Constitution is the symbol of democracy. The BJP government, under PM Modi, installed the Sengol in Parliament. 'Sengol' means 'Raj-Dand' or 'Raja ka Danda'. After ending the princely order, the country became independent. Will the country be run by 'Raja ka danda' or the Constitution? I demand that Sengol be removed from Parliament to save the Constitution," said Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, prominent Tamil voices slammed the SP MP and that ‘Sengol’ represented the upliftment of ‘Dharma’

Yes, religion based reservations should be abolished. Every one should be be treated as equal irrespective of religion unlike in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh where minorities are on the verge of extinction. Real secularism should be imposed rather than fake one. No grants for Madrassa, Waqaf board etc. If there are any hatred teachings, it should be abolished etc.

As a non tamilian, SENGOL is not what modi did, it was our first PM Jawaharlal nehru who took sengol in his hands as a symbolic gesture of transfer of power from british hands to indian hands. Hence, sengol doesn't represent any king's baton, it is the idol of religion of democracy itself, where sengol represents the people of india and their right to self determination and self rule. Sengol represents our sovereignty. This sp mp is trying to misconstrue the meaning. First he should tell why his party is in alliance with NEHRU's party? If u really believe in what u r saying, why r u holding hands with congress, becoz congress brought sengol. Modi has used it to strengthen the unity and integrity of india.
