Yes, it's good when you hire someone, like you said it won't be overwhelming & they're decorator for a reason, they already knows which color works together & all that stuff, you don't have to do exactly what they said but you can take from their idea & suggestion.

Girl...I just can't with paying somebody to do something I can do for free. I would just join pinterest and get to work at home goods, tj maxx and marshalls. I honestly believe you can do it yourself and save your coins!

I used to have that same stance. But I realized that if I'm busy and/or unmotivated and not creative, the end product will be poo poo. So I'd rather pay!
but Gabe could cook at home daily but they like eating out more. a designer will help them merge their styles.
She doesn't have the motivation to meal prep each week. Its fine though, we all have our flaws. And her flaw is that she can't follow through on some things.
some people can do design themselves but others cant. theres more to interior design than finding pictures on Pinterest. it involves color theory, space planning, function,building codes,lighting science, etc. the last time Gabe tried to do it herself, she got the exact same kind of furniture they had before. a designer would help to take their likes in design choices to the next level.

Gabe, paint your kitchen cabinets white, paint the walls gray and use white subway tile for the backslash. Carry the gray color into your living room and get a yellow sofa. You know what looks good and you should trust your instinct!

That karaoke session looked like so much fun! For some reason I like the living room, open and uncluttered. Just put the tv on the wall and call it a day. But I like the minimal look. Every corner & shelf, in my opinion, does not need to have something in or on it.
