I completely sympathize about the power cut!! I live in South Africa where we used to have loadshedding BUT we got a schedule so we knew when it was coming at least and could plan ahead. The worst thing was to remember to turn everything OFF at night otherwise you'd be sound asleep and suddenly all the lights would come back on, the TV blaring, the radio on.... what a shock to the system!! 🤦‍♀️😄 Oh well.... that seems to be over now thank heavens!! 😊💗

We lost our power during that storm for 9 hours and I worried about our freezer too! Luckily we had a small camping stove in the garage with a gas cylinder and a kettle to put on it so I could have my cuppa. I woke early and came downstairs and knitted by candlelight. When we were children we always had Christmas Day on a different day cos our mum and dad were divorced and lived in different parts of the country so we got used to celebrating Christmas on different days. From what I remember you’ve had Christmas Day like this for a couple of years now Davina, I hope you and Elmo enjoy a really cosy day with lots of treats, good telly and lots of crafting and when we’re all done with Christmas you will have yours to look forward to when Glen is home. Hello Davina. Fortunately we don't have many power cuts - hope not this summer with extreme heat. We bought two camping lights and a camping stove which we've had for years so we're pretty much right....don't forget torches - saves you stumbling around in the dark.
My daughter was born Dec 1973 and the miners were on strike (UK) so that was a fun time. Not!
A lovely vlog to check out - and a white Christmas, so pretty! - is Jana "Finish Knitting Stories." Just a bit different.

Hi Davina, in a way it must be quite nice that Glen is working on Christmas Day, means you can put your feet up and do some crafting while watching stuff on tv.
My Christmas is a bit different this year, usually I have Christmas Day at home then do Christmas Day 2 with brother, sister, mum and niece and nephew. But this year we aren’t doing family Christmas until 29th, because my sister is taking my nephew to Lapland for Christmas.
So I’m looking forward to having a quiet few days at home.

Davina that's a regular thing where I live Storm Darrah pulled the power lines down went out Fri night came on Monday morning the joys of living in the sticks lol I'm disabled and get notified to I always have candles batteries etc😂 😂

Sister in law works Christmas Eve each year to allow the nurses to spend it with their littles. Then those nurses work New Year’s Eve. A good trade off.
