- A five minute visual and description of arriving at Steinfossen and Sautso in an Alta Canoe.
The Alta is the worlds most sought after Atlantic Salmon Fishery in the world. Steinfossen and Sautso are two of the most famous areas.
Sautso is a particular area of beauty with its own lodge separate to that of the others on the river.
Absolutely fantastic Ian, the scenery alone is stunning, but the promises in that water are enchanting 😊
Its one of the most breathtaking places imaginable which is why I wanted to share it in this way and not simply of someone standing playing another big fish. I really is an awe inspiring place and I'm so lucky to ahve had the chance to fish and appreciate it.
Now that looks like a river with big fish to swim through the water that could flow down there. I think you have one of the best jobs in the world.
Some of the biggest Atlantic Salmon on the planet. It really is the most amazing of places and Im very lucky to have a friend who has taken me here sharing his rod a few times. Extremely privileged.
Would you say that was your No 1 bucket list destination. Mine was North Harris Estates Loch Voshmid and after being lucky enough to fish that amazing loch and a few of their other lochs one of which we had fifty Sea Trout to the boat on a spectacular Saturday. I have ticked that off my list. I would say Patagonia and their famed Sea trout would be next if I won the lottery. I would need a decent Ghillie as my eyesight & hand tremor make it increasingly difficult for tying flies onto leaders. Anyone in mind?@@IanGordonsalmonfishing
Awesome! Nice wee glimpse of that river! Tell me. are those pools from the bank or boat?
Almost all the pools can be fished from the bank although the boat is really handy to follow those big ones when they take off. I'd say we fish from the boat 50% of the time but " "Most" pools can be fished from the bank.
