@@daisukeitou8141 Maybe they thought they did all they could as a group. Albums, EPs, Singles, Tours, Theme songs, soundtracks, massive shows, etc... Maybe they felt like they did it all. Who knows... But at least they left one hell of a catalog.
@@daisukeitou8141 There were three factors: creative differences, waning popularity, and disillusionment with the major label system and their mainstream popularity. Hidaka Toru wanted to go into a heavier direction after popdod but the other members couldn't agree with it, so instead of going through another lineup change as he was the only original member remaining, they decided to disband and release the last songs they ever recorded on the REST CRUSADERS compilation album. A few years later, Hidaka would form THE STARBEMS, which has a heavier, more punk-influenced sound while still being melodic. There's an interview with Hidaka here that's in English where he talked about the band's breakup, the ever-changing Japanese rock landscape, and his desire to return to smaller shows after being on a major label and gaining a new audience. You could also look up some info about the band's major era music videos on THE STARBEMS' blog page.
