I don't understand the hate? Youth is still one of my favorite albums OF ALL TIME but I can enjoy and appreciate this sound just as much. Changing sound, style, even appearance and still retaining appeal is what makes a great artist, great. Matis is GREAT.
I don't understand why people are downgrading his music, if you don't like what he's doing just keep it to yourself and get off the video. Let him do whatever he wants with HIS music, and if you are a true fan of Matis you will still support him with what he is still trying to do with his music.

I just discovered Matisyahu this past weekend. After listening to his old and new songs I can honestly say I love them all. They are each beautiful in their own way!!!
He is even better in concert! I've seen him 3 or 4 times and he is all over the stage! Dancing, crowd surfing, etc. His stage presence is phenomenal. :D
Maybe it isn't the sound that makes it remind you about King without a crown. Maybe it is the feeling or the great power in his music! The sound is just one of the feeling the music gives, there are so many more to be explored! Matisyahu will always be one of the best artist i know! I love his music!

Compared to the rest of his album, this is pretty tuned down relative to effects. Also, for everyone freaking out concerning the effects, you must not have gone to any of his concerts...they are loaded with effects! I enjoy this song: it sounds great and has a nice emotional feel to it. Keep it up Matis!

And speaking of sound, the music is more organic in King Without a Crown, it is quite an obvious fact to state that Spark Seeker is Matisyahu's breakaway from all that in the past.

Yes the message is still there and it's still positive and I still appreciate that. But I personally can't listen to this, his prior works just sounded better. And this is also a dumbed down message at this point. I still like him, it's Matisyahu. But I don't like this album. Possibly. Or maybe he realized that religious activity devoid of a true spiritual component is not worth adhering oneself to. In other words, practicing rituals and following rules with no cognitive sense of their connection (or lack thereof) to the spiritual realities they are pointing too is utterly worthless. I think Matisyahu was truthfully looking for something real and meaningful in his religious activities. What he found was but a mere shadow of that which is truly meaningful.
