This is fun to listen to, glad y’all are bringing some laughs and more of your thoughts to us! Personally I play honkai/genshin and I agree genshin is specifically about charcters and honkai too. But in honkai what keeps me is the fact that there is a sense of challenge to it, there is levels I cannot clear and I’m sure certain charcters will make it easier but building is so strategic and genshin kinda doesn’t have that value for me. I also play so casual, that it takes forever to build anyone. So honkai is better because you can do more faster and makes me feel like my time is valued more
Still finishing the episode but you guys are enjoyable to listen to! That's why character-release is interesting. It makes us think how the new character compete in current meta or how it works? HSR releasing Pure Fiction is not just "another cycle of MoC", they make sure all the unpopular character usable. *Also not everyone is lucky enough to get all character, yet they can still progress with the same result and reward with everyone. No Progress Cap here, there's a feeling of security, unlike other game that has P2W-favored reward.*
I really appreciate them for taking about swarm and Gng. There is something that they can do to make it more rewarding. They can add a self modelling resin at the last boss of every run which you can exchange for 40 stamina. So that way it's not totally un reward like before but it's still tame because now you only get one relic of your choice rather than getting 2 random relics from normal SU run.
This was awesome to watch...one thing tho...we need to "bully" smack into trying pgr. i get that WW is coming and don't get me wrong, it looks phenomenal for a gacha game, but even then it doesn't look like It'll hit the same as PGR's pings + core passive system where u don't just wait for CDs to do what u want since u don't actually know what pings ur gonna get which is one of the most unique ways to tackle i combat system in general and i feel smack is genuinely missing out by not at least giving it a shot while waiting for WW. Regardless, hoping this becomes a regular podcast and looking forward to the next one.
yeah i think its gunna be hard to top PGR combat, however i do also think that PGR was made for mobile and thus i actually found harder to play on PC and so thats why i think they have adjusted Wuthering Waves to be more PC keybind friendly
@VolkinYT that is indeed true since WW is releasing on all platforms at launch while pgr took a while to get a pc client even in CN. It's also why PGR combat is mainly grounded (not a negative, imo since it's executed rly well) while WW has a seemingly complex implementation of aerial combat as well.
about the comment you made about ifrit, it comes from the arabic word عفريت or ifreet, it generally means an evil spirit most commonly used to talk about scary demons fun podcast :3
Also, I'm a mom and I've always been a gamer. Both you and GachaSmack are parents as well so it's great to listen to content creators with a more mature prospective on these topics.
Great topics discussed during the podcast! Want to touch on a topic about time commitment and WW. Personally I think content creators will enjoy WW more just because of the time that can be sunk into the game to learn attack patterns, beating the boss, feeling the rush from it, exploration and more. And unfortunately, once again personally, this might make WW a game that I (full time employee who plays 4 other gachas) will have time to dedicate to only during the weekends. Adding to that, if there is a daily or weekly grind, I hope it is not repetitive and boring like Genshin and if it is not repetitive and boring, hope that also don't take up too much time (>40 mins a day) to complete it. Praying that the WW team can find the sweet spot. Looking forward to the next podcast!
Great podcast!! Smack is my favorite creator in the space and this was my first time hearing you Volkin, I loved hearing your thoughts. I’ll be returning weekly 🫡
Ifrit, also spelled as efreet and afrit (Arabic: ʻIfrīt: عفريت, pl ʻAfārīt: عفاريت), is a powerful type of demon in Islamic mythology. The afarit are often associated with the underworld and also identified with the spirits of the dead, and have been compared to evil geniī loci in European culture.
Just got done listening to you guys podcast, and I really enjoy the topics. I’m sub to both of your channels, and been watching both TH-cam content since Honkai star rail came out. I’m looking forward to more podcast with you both, keep up the good work!
Tectone's is more of a panel style which can get overwhelming but have more viewpoints, while 3 to max 4 is much more directly conversational. Both have their merits and I'll probably tune into both
a lot of great coverage and talking points on this podcast. Hope to see more since I enjoy both of your content. - For SU, it has become more of a rogue like slogfest of trying to get lucky to get a decent setup. Tectone has mentioned this, but a mode that has just one giant boss you have to beat, no ads, could work for SU. This could be easily covered story wise as we've seen SW hack the SU and we know the Aeons have struck down the player a few times. Maybe later on down the road, Herta has an issue where a former living Aeon tries to break the SU, same as the Propagation aeon. Or maybe have 1 of a set of aeons we can challenge that is impossible to beat, but you're scored on how much dmg you can deal. It's a weird idea, but I'm sure if it's played around more the team can find something that'll work. - I wholeheartedly agree that modern gamers should definitely have some in person get together gaming with friends, because it just makes gaming 1000x better. I formed a lot of great memories with my siblings, cousins and friends because we'd play games together. I've played a lot of fightings games but the longevity of the game has always felt much longer with friends in person than playing alone. - On the topic of PGR, I hope Smack checks it out, if not for the gameplay then at least for how Kuro games has set up their gacha system and how the devs treat the players. It's like night and day switching back to a hoyo game. Anniversary they give out a 5 star selector, 100% pity on pulling for new 5 stars, their loadout system is an actual loadout system, and as a newer player there's a lot of stuff to do outside of just their standard end game, and the events can be fun to do. Most importantly they have skins that aren't just "character in sunday suit" but skins that also have cosmetic changes for said characters.
Enjoying this podcast. 2 intelligent people having a back and forth conversation instead of 8-10 people having a really broken up mess. Keep up the good work guys.
It is kinda funny,, that Smack says, "It is so important to hear an other person out, and try to understand where they came from"... but then in MrPokkes drama completly dissmises Dreamys standpoint (didn't even read), and onesidedly roasts them. What can i say - a typical hypocrite.
Love the podcast! It's actually very productive especially involving any game that Hoyo makes. Not to mention with two of the people in the industry that I respect the most. With that being said, I'm done with Genshin after Wuthering Waves' release. I'd still stick with the archon quests though since the lore-buff in me is stil interested. However, the malder in me is hungry for some action. Good thing PGR is here, but I want more. 😂
Edit: You two are excellent together! I need you two back every patch 😊 24:00 I feel Volkin on this. However, the way I play Star Rail is to login daily for about a month and then slowly tapir off until its been 3-4 weeks and some drip marketing catches my attention. I used to be daily for the first 4 months of the game but I was entering that resentment stage from being so overprepared and having to be so disciplined with jade and resources. All the gameplay incentive was exhausted and HSR was just a dissapointing checkmark in my day. That led to me taking more breaks from the game. I find that SU has been immense in offering me, a casual player, incentive in the form of jade and credits. I get broke pretty fast when I return for the newest banner and all my reserve energy is gone from farming mats. I find this is what creators like you, smack, and oters play daily and are consistently checking off the boxes, doing the new thing, if the incentive is there, and then pre-farming your next pull because content depends on it. I value what you guys bring for HSR as a whole and I hope sharing my view lets other players feel seen or heard.
In the trailers we’ve seen, sampo has sparkle’s glowing eye effects. I get vibes of game of thrones’ Arya Stark in their masked situation, where she uses different masks to become whoever she wants, with how sparkle changes masks. Idk, y’all might be on to something there lol
Oooo, i always wanted a transmog system with Genshin... but you bring a really interesting point. If they would make the Weapon skins rare drops, i be farming soooo much daily. And i dont even really play Genshin anymore.
It’s insane your synergy, keep it up boys. Loved you single. Love you even more as a couple ❤. And by the way., free to play BCM Upper League 100 is insane Volkin. I barely got into the Upper this seasons with like 250bucks invested and mostly was for Julius.
Dammit Volk. Those CRT TV Halo gaming sessions in the basement with my mates are coming back to me fast. Those were the days. Say what you want guys. Tell me I'm an outdated boomer. But that was my jam back then. That was peak gaming. And it hurts to think about what happened to one of my favorite gaming franchises. But it is what it is.
i for 1 am the guy who logs in for 10-15 min auto clearing my dailies , aka spending my energy and logging back off. till the weekend hits and i can enjoy some of the story/side quests and clear moc/purefiction, before the week resets. i barely dabbed into the golden gears and swarm disaster so far.
I really like this approach of podcast, something a little more detailed about the topics! Not something that really matters, but I would like to share my view about the topics as well, feel free to ignore all of this. - 2.0 Thoughts: I feel the hype really is over the top, but I am hyped more because it is a new region and with new lore too but I do agree that if you take that away, the 2.0 dont feel that much different from a standart patch. I am hyped too because of all the videos and teasers we are getting, like the interview we got today and the posts in hoyolab, those type of things really appeal to me. - Genshin Drama vs Star Rail: For me the difference is not about the quantity of pulls, but the context of them. As Genshin explicit said, those wishes were the representation of the travelers's support for 3 years and the HSR one's had the connotation of being present of excitement for the upcoming update. It is like getting a present for Xmas and the other simply cuz they felt happy, the later feels more personal and not an obligation. 24:00 - I do agree with your perspective about losing your build to the RNG but I view as a way to gauge new mechanics for future kits, without compromise nor expose much of future line ups. Ruan Mei, Black Swan and Sparkle seems to have some inspiration with some of the blessings, could be a delusion of my part tho. However it really is too damn long lol 37:00 YES, I really loved the ZZZ models because they didn't feel bounded to pre-made models. I do hope we get more different types of characters, seeing ZZZ designs first I was expecting something like that with HSR, given the interstellar setting and all. About Wuthering Waves, I agree 100% with you guys!
Great podcast great synergy. This exactly what i like 2 grown ass motherfuckers as myself (kids too) talking about some gacha games. Im old af so its a breath of fresh air when the drama stays out the door..gotta deal with that shit at work anyways
I agree with your take on 2.0, it feels like a standard patch aside from the new story and planet obviously. I personally get more hyped for patches that expand upon the Simulated Universe or end game modes such as MoC and now Pure Fiction
I view star rail as a side game right now..emphasis on “right now”.. HSR is probably the only gacha game story which I actually pay attention to, and whenever a new story quest comes out, I play the shit out of it - i would consider it a “main game” whenever that happens…but after that, I log in, do my dailies, finish my stamina… look at how depressing my gear rolls are.. and that’s it for the day barely even 10 mins honestly. That’s how all gacha games ends up being, it’s why I never really considered having a “main” gacha game. To me, JRPGs are still my main source of gaming interest.
Honestly I think 2.0 is too early for Himeko to kick the bucket, it feels like there's still stuff to learn about this Himeko, I also think it hits more when you kill off a character that has made a big impact on the story.
Yeah, I agree. People forget that HSR is another game, and not HI. If you look into the game, Himeko didnt appear that much to make her death meaningful.
in 41:30 ifrit or afreet in arabic is the word that usually refers to evil jinn or some sort of ghost or spirits or a powerful demon in islamic and arabic culture
New player experience is not that great though, sure you have a lot of content to do but if you pull newer character you will have tougher time to collect materials for ascension (Especially if you have Inazuma character because you need to do 2 whole regions to unlock Inazuma) also even though you have a lot of content explorations primogems are just not that great. Sure you can collect thousand of them as a new player but it will take hours and hours to get even few wishes because most of them are 2-5 primogems and one island of Inazuma gives you ONLY TEAPOT SCHEMATIC WITHOUT PRIMOGEMS it's a joke
@@VolkinYT I think the best time to start in a filler patch like 4.5 so it's easy to catch up with some story and exploration, because 4.6 will be more "heavy" with a new area , interlude chapter , and long awaited character (Arlecchino), etc.
Great first episode, fantastically accurate takes on Genshin and why 2.0 HSR is getting so much hype from Gachasmack, my opinion of him definitely improved from this (I liked his build videos but felt he was a little too argumentative). I'm glad this wasn't about that HSR CC drama I keep hearing about nonstop but do not have a single fuck to give about.
dude i just checked your channel. no way i can bring someone with that much hair on, would make me feel too insecure about my receeding hairline 😂 Keep up the grind mate 👊 feel free to DM me on discord if u wanna chat about content and stuff
I started playing Genshin as my first Gacha 3 years ago, Unfortunately the one i spent money on. For years im like it will get better but i had complaints the first 6 months and none of them have ever been addressed. When you have company that doesn't communicate with the community, give rewards that are truly awful for the amount that the company has benefited from. They make basic changes every 6 months and the character rotation gives people something to do or be happy about. But we as a community failed to hold the company accountable. So they just thought meh who cares they will pay us money anyway.
The main fun that i get from HSR is team building, the gameplay itself is kinda shallow for me. That is why i like MoC more than the roguelike mode. MoC is more a puzzle that you solve by building a team, while the roguelike is just grinding for a run and because i dont really enjoy the gameplay it gets boring really fast. It would be nice if i could change my team more freely during a run so i can try to adapte to a run, like being able to change your whole team at anytime but you only could do it 2 times per run or so.

@@araulen4820 yeah genshins devs are just so out of touch and treat their players like nothing more than a bank they can withdraw money from. thats 1 reason why when wuthering waves releases i will simply forget genshin even exists lol
ay we take extra ten pulls tho thouhg probably since its 2.0 patch but yeah nice to have.
@@MrBentalton777 WuWa actually listened to their player and made major changes!! that means more to me than free 10 pulls in any gacha game :D (free 10 pull is obvious a good thing but listening to players just makes it more special)
@@_butter.cup_ I know it's why I trust kuro more than any other company
If you want an average Gacha data point, I'd be happy to share my experience as a full-time worker with various Gacha games in my gaming history (primarily Summoner's War, Fire Emblem Heroes, and now HSR!
Will be looking forward to future episodes!
Really enjoyable! Keep up the good work. Also, on the topic of transmog farms in WoW... I remember running Illidan weekly with 2 characters or so to get Cursed Vision of Sargeras! Eventually II ended up geting both warglaives and toridal? (the sunwell leg bow) but on my druid... Still siting on my bank as a reminder.
dude that is pain
Ok I am SO thrilled the two of you got together to make a podcast. Two CC’s that I love coming together is liquid gold, and I’m here for the Volkin/Smack juicy content that I know the two of you will deliver. Way to go boys 👏👏👏 @Volkin and @GachaSmack
Love this podacast. Been watching Volkin for quite some time and Smack as well. 2 great guys and i always watch both of y'all's videos. Keep upnthe great work guys
This was really nice surprise as a viewer of both of you! :) Looking forward to upcoming episodes!
I think the podcast format really suits you guys. Very fluent conversation, great vid.
I like HSR because they don't really power creep character, everyone is usable based on playstyle & end-game content:
Bronya : Great for Hypercarry (Extra Action)
RMei : Great for Duo DPS and Break Effect
Sparkle : Great for High SP-usage Team
Tingyun : Great for Energy Regeneration
Asta : Great for Team Wide SPD Boost
Hanya : Great for Hypercarry (SP Restore)
Yukong : Great of Hypercarry (Dmg Buff)
Kafka : The Foundation of DoT Team
BSwan : Make Kafka & DoT Relevant Again
Sampo : Usable for DoT Team
Luka : Usable for DoT Team
Gunaifen : Usable for DoT Team
SWolf : Great for Mono & Single Def Shred
Pela : Great for AoE Def Shred
Dr.Ratio : Great for Memory of Chaos
Topaz : Great for Memory of Chaos
Seele : Great for Memory of Chaos
Argenti : Great for Pure Fiction
Himeko : Great for Pure Fiction
Jingyuan : Great for Pure Fiction
Serval : Great for Pure Fiction
Herta : Great for Pure Fiction
Qingque : FOR GAMBLER!!!
Jingliu : Great for SU and most content
Imb. Lunae : Great for SU and most content
Blade : Great for SU and most content
Xueyi : Generalist DPS & Toughness Dmg
Luocha : Great for Automatic Healing
Huohuo : Great for Team Regeneration
Bailu : Great for Sustainability & Reviving
Lynx : All You Can Eat Healer
Fuxuan : Great for Damage Distribution
Gepard : Great for Shield Generate
Trailbrazer : Great for Taunting
You can practically make any team and finish any end game content with ease, as long as you know exactly their playstyle.
This is gonna be a great podcast cant wait to listen to it while eating
Same, but while pooping
I really appreciate them for taking about swarm and Gng. There is something that they can do to make it more rewarding. They can add a self modelling resin at the last boss of every run which you can exchange for 40 stamina. So that way it's not totally un reward like before but it's still tame because now you only get one relic of your choice rather than getting 2 random relics from normal SU run.
Absolutely loved this first episode, you two fit so well together on this podcast formula and I cant wait until the next episode!!!
Bro this was soo fun the listen, you guys have a special chemistry.
about the comment you made about ifrit, it comes from the arabic word عفريت or ifreet, it generally means an evil spirit most commonly used to talk about scary demons
fun podcast :3
Amazing podcast! Definitely excited for weekly episodes!!
Also, I'm a mom and I've always been a gamer. Both you and GachaSmack are parents as well so it's great to listen to content creators with a more mature prospective on these topics.
I like people who know stuff just talking about stuff. So yeah, good idea
Amazing content, guys! Love both!
I love this tipe of content, hope that u guys do this way more
Great topics discussed during the podcast!
Little comment to help the algo or something like that. Good video. I'll probably not be in the Wuwa cbt2 so i'm waiting to see your video about it.
cheers🍻
It's awesome.
I don’t often see constructive dialogue on Star Rail between two good TH-camrs.
Waking up and watching this, just made my day😊 💯
nice, more podcast, the more people talk about these issue, the better.
Bro, I love this podcast meta. Especially with these two.
Waiting for this podcast to blow up and invite other HSR content creators/voice actors and even developers.. looking forward to this weekly podcast
What a great podcast love the synergy between you too
Just got done listening to you guys podcast, and I really enjoy the topics. I’m sub to both of your channels, and been watching both TH-cam content since Honkai star rail came out. I’m looking forward to more podcast with you both, keep up the good work!
Love it, you two rock 🙌🥳
I absolutely love this. It’s amazing seeing so many content creators from the same space collabing this often.
Love this, can’t wait for the next episode!
The realest, most mature pod cast I've seen and I'm loving it
The Aetherium Wars being turned into PvP is interesting as hell. Making it like collecting shiny Pokemon would absolutely make me play the game more
It is kinda funny,, that Smack says, "It is so important to hear an other person out, and try to understand where they came from"... but then in MrPokkes drama completly dissmises Dreamys standpoint (didn't even read), and onesidedly roasts them. What can i say - a typical hypocrite.
What I would like to see in Honkai star rail is team battling like in Nikki where you pick your best character and go through a mode like m o c
Yhh you guys definitely need to talk about zzz especially from smack's perspective 😂😂😂
i think we will go deeper on ZZZ once we get some more info from the game
The pokemon battle thing in star rail was so cool i used so many teams testing everything out and they just have yet to do anything with it since.....
Loved the podcast, looking forward to future episodes :)
i hope you guys didn't leave tectone on purpose, that guy is struggling enough with live as it is
haha na smack said he was busy and i didnt get an invite coz im not a genshin player
He isnt struggling. He's flourishing
@@MrBud85like his hair..

Edit: You two are excellent together! I need you two back every patch 😊
24:00 I feel Volkin on this.
Idk, y’all might be on to something there lol
welp... NAILED IT
this was great, 2 of my absolute favorite creators doing a weekly talk is 🔥
Looking forward to WW. Hope its a 7/8 in value where Genshin is 1
Amazing podcast. Really enjoyed all the takes.
Oooo, i always wanted a transmog system with Genshin... but you bring a really interesting point. If they would make the Weapon skins rare drops, i be farming soooo much daily. And i dont even really play Genshin anymore.
BRING ON @LegionzGaming91 Aka Bald Man 2.0 aka Tectone's Twin aka the Goat
It’s insane your synergy, keep it up boys. Loved you single. Love you even more as a couple ❤. And by the way., free to play BCM Upper League 100 is insane Volkin. I barely got into the Upper this seasons with like 250bucks invested and mostly was for Julius.
deff agree with most points you guys made.. and honestly after WW comes i am definitely dropping genshin!
But it is what it is.
dude im teeing it up with my mates now
@@VolkinYT Sounds like a great time. Enjoy man.
i for 1 am the guy who logs in for 10-15 min auto clearing my dailies , aka spending my energy and logging back off. till the weekend hits and i can enjoy some of the story/side quests and clear moc/purefiction, before the week resets. i barely dabbed into the golden gears and swarm disaster so far.
OGG podcast sounds good. Original Gacha Gamer Podcast.
as in you talk about gacha, but also old school games xD
Subbed, please kept it between you two. Hate it when podcasts get to like 8 people. People barely get to speak
However it really is too damn long lol
37:00 YES, I really loved the ZZZ models because they didn't feel bounded to pre-made models. I do hope we get more different types of characters, seeing ZZZ designs first I was expecting something like that with HSR, given the interstellar setting and all.
About Wuthering Waves, I agree 100% with you guys!
thanks, appreciate the input, everyone will have different perspectives and i love seeing other ppls perspective 👍
Great duo for the valuable podcast commentary, looking forward to more
I do make content some times but I am a car salesman who’s 26 and play hsr while waiting for customers at work haha.
pretty sick podcast duo here, more like this please
The talk about the jacket thing is so relatable it hurts.
To me, JRPGs are still my main source of gaming interest.
haha you got me with the depressing gear rolls😂
we all do it
2 gentlegachaaddict nahh they are lit dude 😂😂
New to the game and love the podcast. I hope Sam is playable.
Honestly I think 2.0 is too early for Himeko to kick the bucket, it feels like there's still stuff to learn about this Himeko, I also think it hits more when you kill off a character that has made a big impact on the story.
yeah earliest would be 2.3 if they do decide to kill her off. they need to develop her character first
Yeah, I agree.
Sure you can collect thousand of them as a new player but it will take hours and hours to get even few wishes because most of them are 2-5 primogems and one island of Inazuma gives you ONLY TEAPOT SCHEMATIC WITHOUT PRIMOGEMS it's a joke
interesting. maybe one day i will have to do a genshin playthrough to see how i find it
@@VolkinYTnah nah 💀💀 ain't no way
@@VolkinYT I think the best time to start in a filler patch like 4.5 so it's easy to catch up with some story and exploration, because 4.6 will be more "heavy" with a new area , interlude chapter , and long awaited character (Arlecchino), etc.
my top 2 favorite honkai/gacha content creators together again lets goooo
I watch a Pokémon channel named dads being dudes and honestly this podcast was like watching 2 dads being dudes. Keep up the great work
Great first episode, fantastically accurate takes on Genshin and why 2.0 HSR is getting so much hype from Gachasmack, my opinion of him definitely improved from this (I liked his build videos but felt he was a little too argumentative). I'm glad this wasn't about that HSR CC drama I keep hearing about nonstop but do not have a single fuck to give about.
Great podcast!!

I like how this podcast is maturity and very open to discuss things on a cool level.. also they arent selling sex like tectone is a plus too 😂
I started playing Genshin as my first Gacha 3 years ago, Unfortunately the one i spent money on.

My longest Shiny Hunt was for 18hrs for a Ponyta it still stands proud as a rapidash on that account.
Looking forward to more future podcast episode ❤

Ifrits are a type of djiin from mythology generaly described as surrounded by or composed of smoke.
35:59 this part was so gold with the synergy and chemistry
Love how my man smack just casually gets up during the video lol RL adulting shit happens and got to multitask
42:54 I was so hyped for him but didn't even notice he was a 4 star. dammm it...
Always a blast to hear smack spitting, cook more
The main fun that i get from HSR is team building, the gameplay itself is kinda shallow for me.
