Good review... I have the DX too. Actually I am not too worried about loosing bits on the trail. But my problem with it is, that I need a tool to remove the bits from the ratchet. They click in so firmly, that it is impossible to remove them. I hope, this improves over time, when the spring in the ratched wears...
I figured that you can push on the opposite side if it's really tight with your finger, and if that doesn't help you can take one of the small bits and push with that so you can get a lot of power. Yeah agree, suprised me too how tight they are. I am worried about losing bits, already lost the 2mm hex. Now everytime I open the pouch, I check if any of the bits are loose and I will push them back. Really wish the pouch was better, my only gripe with the product.
I have the DX and the newer one with the torque head. You can also put the bits and the extender into the bottom of the ratchet. I agree it's more of a faff on the trail but for touring / longer rides it is really handy.
I'm not sure I'm fully decided yet and my kit carry is in a constant state of flux. The missing chain tool isn't ideal, so it would mean adding one but I do like that the torqBits can be used with it. Its always going to be a personal thing - I do think its a neat solution.
A gift from your Wife. Very cool. Don't leave it in the car or at home. Take it with you and use it. She'll think you don't like it if it's left behind. If you lose it she'll replace it knowing you loved it.
Good run through chap, I have the same topeak tool, the ratchet looks amazing but I'd be a concerned about losing it too, I keep eyeing up the Silca version, but thats 3 x the price and even more likely to stay at home!
Silca have just collabed with Bontrager to make one with a torque setter too for over $100! Summary on Pink Bike says "it seems as if it would be right at home as a travel tool or seeing some use in a home shop" - I wouldnt want to lose bits from a tool on my sunday morning mud slog!
A round up of my multi-tools - before this one - th-cam.com/video/joZLx4gw7pc/w-d-xo.html
After getting more into bike maintenance I realised using allen keys is a right pain in the ass so going to get one of these
Nice one, Tim.
I have been considering one of these for a while. Just ordered one via your link.
Watch those pennies roll in! 😁
Thanks - I'll spend my 20p wisely...
Quality Tim. I've got the one that includes the Chain Tool but like you am scared to take it on the trail! 👍
Good choice!

@@TimFromWales The NTX+ has a chain tool and uses the extension bar as the handle (neat).,, but you lose the tyre levers. :-(
The DX+ has a chain tool.
