Some people like to put boundaries where kids and furkids aren't allowed. I believe in co-sleeping with both as you raise them as it has family mental growth benefits instead of putting them in a crate, cradle, or cage of a sort. We're social animals just as much as they are and need that closeness.

My current Eskie Koda doesn't beg to get on the bed--he knows it's already his place with my husband (who goes in earlier than I do). So there's very little room left for me! :) He's super alert to every movement of the pack leader (hubby) and will fly off the bed if his Daddy so much as puts his feet on the floor. Otherwise, he loves to sneak up to the pillow to shove his head underneath so I can rub his belly while he lies flat on his back with the pillow over his face. Really should post a vid one of these days. His predecessor Kaya (both were rescues, btw) was renamed as was Koda --since both of their previous 'owners' gave them up and I wanted them both to know they would now be loved, no matter what. Kaya's name took a long time to come up with --I wanted something to denote she was now in her forever home and found 'Kaya' from the Inuit. It means 'stay and don't go back'. I thought that was fitting. She responded to it immediately. Koda's was changed from Toby--since his owner gave him to a KILL SHELTER! because he was moving!?!! from which he was rescued by Eskie rescue only a day before his execution! What's wrong with people who could do that? A dog's name is very personal between their new family and them--so NO ONE has a right to get in the middle of it. I love my Eskies --they're THE very best dogs ever and as others have said here, are very bonded with their 'packs' (in my case that includes the cats).

I'd allow sitting on the couch sometimes if on my lap or something, very seldom my bed, more likely if he hadn't really gone out that day or had a bath lol Always gave him lots of love though, pets and cuddling all the time, and yes I would sit on the floor with him, I'm sure these owners did as well.

The American eskimoAKA spitz are one of the best breeds of dogs to own. We had one for 15 years in which he died of old age. These beautiful dogs bring back happy memories. I really miss my buddy Rebok

While I love it when our Miniature American Eskimo talks, she gets off our bed when I command her; even though she sleeps on it with us. We can see who runs your house.

LOL! I have 4, love them. You can't treat these dogs nothing less than a family member -- they love your bed, eating your food, walking by your side, playing with you, comforting you -- all YOU! They hate you making them into a junkyard dog and refuse to accept it! Love this video! LOL!
What a cute eskie! We had to train mine to get off just because he would literally push me off the bed although I loved snuggling with him all the time. Im so glad I got to see this, I haven’t met anyone else with an eskie where I’m from, he’s the only one in a group corgis and I feel like people don’t realize what how amazing they are!
I have an eskie mix that does exactly the same thing but on my coach. He will get at the other end from me and start with those vocalizations to get attention and will slowly crawl over toward me and get close enough for me to pet him.
If you own an Eski, please take professional care of their teeth! They're prone to teeth disease with lots of pain. I've learned my lesson the hard way!
